Hello Theodora! Would you do a sewing zoom consultation for a fee? I am struggling with a wedding gown and would really appreciate some guidance! Thank-you
Hi Kristen! Sorry for your troubles! I did just start a Patreon and the apprentice level has livestream, I could do a Q&A there, if you’re interested. I just currently do private lessons of my patterns. patreon.com/threadoragowns
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I would love any tricks you can give me
@Jonah Princeton I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
So helpful! I'm doing the same thing, making a lace overlay on a wedding dress bodice. Ran short of lace, have to stitch two pieces together to cover the bodice front. I made a thick ugly seam at first, but now that I've seen a better way to do it, that's what I'll do next. Thanks so much!!
This is very helpful thanks! My daughter has asked to use my wedding dress (which I have completely cut and revamped), but I am short some pieces for the sleeves. Im using this technique and it’s working a treat 👍
Regular everything! Foot, needle (12/90), normal tension (my machine doesn’t have number just a dial to adjust). My regular stitch is 2.5 I go to 2 for this. Machines are so different, test first!
Hi I loved your video, it was really helpful. Will you make a video on how to put boning into a sheer bodice such as this one? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks :) keep up the nice videos
Could you tell me the name and/or source of the lace you are working with? It looks very much like a lace I found online called "Delmira", but the Delmira is sequined...I would like to find the lace you are using which does NOT have sequins! Thanks in advance. Thanks also for this very well done tutorial. I will be making my daughter's wedding dress for a summer 2020 wedding!! I've sewn for years but never attempted a wedding dress with lace overlay and lace applique, so this is quite the learning experience!!
Martha Youts good for you! I know it can look daunting. I’m so sorry I do not remember the name. I purchased it at a place called Fabricana. You can ask there, but it’s been a few years.
@@ThreadoraGowns Thank you for your response. I found the notation about Fabricana in a post further down the page after I sent you this message...sorry to be redundant!! I live in New Mexico and there just are NOT any bridal fabric stores here. The closest is Denver, CO, so I'm going to try to send a picture of the sample I obtained from a company in the UK to them and see where that leads. Again...thank you so much for this tutorial, it will be VERY HELPFUL when I begin work on my daughter's dress!!
Juliana Ewusi-Essel hi! Thank you! The easiest way to do princess seams is to turn them into a dart by joining the tops of your pattern pieces. I show this in my pattern course Prima Ballerina on Threadora.com. You also might see some of it in my raspberry tutu prom dress video but it’s just a showcase.
Don't know how lucky I'll be for you to answer this question. But what if you're making a lace bra and it need to be like a pocket how can you eliminate the seam?
Hi Elise, Sorry to be stupid, but I cannot figure out how the black seam lines are accurately sewn if you are sewing around the lace motif. I keep watching it, but don't know how you make it fit correctly by doing this? Thank you for your reply.
judy holman the basting marks your seam line and all you do is match those up between your two pieces. It depends on the motif but sew the new seam as close to your basted line as you can. Trim away excess at the overlap edges. You can pin and baste around the lapped seam and test until you're satisfied with how it looks.
Hi Elise, do you have a video or any instruction on line of how to sew sequin & beaded lace overlay onto a low"ish" V neck bodice that has a princess seam for the bust? Waistband on the dress fyi. Would you seam the lace at the centre front line- or not? Or would you have the front bodice all in one piece (ie centre front cut on fold) and shape/seam/piece the lace around the princess seams (so the seam doesn't show, as you taught in a separate video)? Wondering what you might think best pls. Thanks in advance! Love your videos btw. They are excellent.
Dorian jon do you mean cutting on a single layer? Instead of doubling up the fabric? I just find it more accurate in this case to see the motif right side up and plan the opposite garment side so it matches well.
Lovely but why not to use a darting foot for free style stitching which allows making a foot as you go rather than stop and lift all the time ...hope the dress turned out well.
Do you mean darning foot? I should see if there's a foot available for my industrial. I don't mind stopping all the time, the knee lift makes it pretty effortless. I also try not to use so many "advanced" or optional accessories, just basics for everyone to follow.
That’s because I was still making the dress at the time. You can see it here: ruclips.net/video/uutaK8hhRJc/видео.html and I also use the same method for the lace bodice on the tutu prom dress that is now offered as a course on my site.

Thank you, your demonstration was quite helpful! Making my first wedding dress for a bride who has a full lace overlay of the entire gown.

I love your work and also your cutting matt
That is beautiful lace..
Where did you buy it from?
Loved how you did that! Beautiful lace and the effect you get once you are done. So worth taking the time to do all that cutting.
Excellent tutorial! Best I've seen about this so far. Thank you :)
This is gorgeous, thanks for this tutorial - now I'm LOOKING for an excuse to use lace haha
Awesome tutorial
What presser foot are you using? What size needle are you using? What is the tension, width, and length settings on the sewing machine you’re using?
Regular everything! Foot, needle (12/90), normal tension (my machine doesn’t have number just a dial to adjust). My regular stitch is 2.5 I go to 2 for this. Machines are so different, test first!
That looks splendid! Thanks.
Thanks a lot for this great video❤
Thank you so much for this!!
I first learned how to sew at age 7, and been sewing for DECADES now, but THIS is MIND-BLOWING!!

That looks really nice. You did a good job. 👍🏻
those little violet heavy things are great to put on a tissue to keep it in place! thanks!
Ira Happy Yes they are! I haven't used pins for cutting in forever.
EXCELENT VIDEO!!! ✨
Where did you buy the lace?
very helpful! thanks for the video!
Is there a way to do this with a lace that has flowers of various colors? Would I just keep changing thread or use invisible thread? Would that work?
Yep, you got it. Either of those would work.
Do you mind sharing with me where you got that lace? It's very beautiful!
Got it at a store called Fabricana in Richmond, BC (Canada). They have a beautiful bridal section!
Wow. Impressive. Please can u show you do it on princess seams?

Would you have the drafting part of the dress? Would be good to know how to draft. Thanks Rosie
You can see some of the process in this video: ruclips.net/video/uutaK8hhRJc/видео.html
Can this work for thin Chantilly Lace?
Did you make your weights for holding down the pattern piece
They are Dritz pattern weights, I think they are available on Amazon.
Great tutorial
Finally an industrial machine on RUclips 😭
Hi is there a special stitch size I select for this
I would use a shorter one for sure!
thank you for this excellent video
Would it be straight stitching?
very helpful indeed.
Thank you.
Very helpful video.
Very helpful to me, thank you.
Beautiful! Thank you!
Nice,thank you
Hi! Would you apply this method to a fully laced gown mermaid/trumpet style gown?
God bless you...it's so helpfull but above all it's so clear and very well explaned 😍❤🔝adore you and your videos
Thank you so much
Can you make slip full and half slip. It's hard to find video on slip.
You can try using a soldering iron to burn out designs of the embroidery off the net fabric
Bless your soul omg

Oh my god, thank you so much for this tutorial! :D
can you produce full dress please...
sajjad ahmed I did. And you can see it in this video: ruclips.net/video/uutaK8hhRJc/видео.html.
Educative. Thank you.
Did this allow work for the front bodice?
What kind of the thread and foor presser ?
Erin Mutika regular polyester thread and foot. Unless you are basting then I like embroidery floss (separated) and a wide-eyed hand needle.
Where did u buy the rotary cutter? I need it
Yoghi Yukibana it’s an Olfa brand. You can get it at any craft or fabric store. Or online!
@@ThreadoraGowns thanks a lot! 😉
Great tutorial. No wonder my lace dress doesn't look right....the seams don't blend nicely. Thank you

What is the name of the song in the background? It's very pretty!

You can actually in another video! ruclips.net/video/uutaK8hhRJc/видео.html
I'm a sewing newbie.... Why didn't you use white thread please...?
Vernie Ren you mean the basting? It’s so it’s easy to see. To sew the edges of the lace together it would be white.
@@ThreadoraGowns OK get you... Do you remove the basting in the finished article?
Vernie Ren yes exactly. They’re only there to mark seam lines or darts.
@@ThreadoraGowns OK, thanks, I'm new to this!
Good

What are those funny purple bumps?
My pattern weights? They hold fabric so I don't have to pin.
There wasn’t a picture.
