From a botanical perspective, fruits are the structures that contain seeds and are meant to disperse them for plant reproduction, while vegetables are all other edible plant parts. That would mean that a watermelon is a fruit because it comes from a flower and contains the seeds inside. That's why a tomato is a fruit. The seeds are inside. In fact, squash is a fruit as well, but I still like to consider it a vegetable. Love the color of that jam, and I really like the idea that it's tangy. I'm sure I'd love that, especially on a hot buttered biscuit. It's funny that you talked about how pretty canned stuff looks in jars. Since my mother was a canner, I like to go around and look at how things look when canned in jars.
You make everything look easy and good! We did get snow in the Florida Panhandle! I live about 45 minutes from Destin, Florida and we got 12” . Destin got plenty of snow too. That jam looks so good! You make things look so simple to make and you’re such an inspiration to those of us that might be “skeerd” to try something! I made Chicken and Dumplings this weekend because you made it look so simple…and it basically was!! I added more flour for the dumplings because I was shooting for a bigger pot of dumplings. I could have used more broth or pot liquor. The final out come was they were a little thick but they were still scrumptious and my son really did like them. Thank you so much for being such a wonderful inspiration! I saw a short video of yours, you made peach dumplings! Oh my goodness they looked sooooo good!! Is there anyway you could do a full video on those? I would make them in a heartbeat!! May God bless you and your family, always!! I love pictures of cardinals and have never lived where they do and hope to see one someday💕 I freeze berries soon after buying cuz they never last long. I finally tried rinsing in vinegar and they lasted longer! I love how you made something awesome from leftovers!
That is such an Einstein idea! You never know what taste you'll have but you know it will be delicious. I'm tempted to make some fruit salad just to try your recipe. Its got to be so good. Ohhhh I'm so tempted. If you don't want to water bath can or steam can it, I would turn the jar upside down for a little while then turn it back the right way and let it seal. It will be shelf stable then. That how my Mama and my Granny's did it anyway.
Yes… it’s easy enough to give it a quick water bath to ensure it but with it just being 4-5 half pints I use them pretty quickly so in the fridge they go lol 😂 😍
Talli, when you said watermelon, I immediately thought of my parrot. I used to scoop the flesh out of the watermelon and put it in a bowl to eat and take the rind outside for her. She would stand in the middle of that rind and go to town! I had one wing clipped so she couldn't fly far (unless something spooked her she never flew), but she would eat & sling that fruit. Oh what fun we had.

Yep I do a lot of canning every spring I've got apricot to backed up and got blackberries backed up and I've got strawberries backed up so those will be the first things I can this year
I am in central Arkansas and had 7 inches of snow January 10 and finally was above freezing Saturday but the low in the morning is supposedly 28 but warmer days are coming

Hi Talli Faye. I am wondering if it can be kept in a plastic container like fake Tupperware? In Florida I always am happy when the weather gets chilly. I can’t say cold, but it’s been a bit “fresh” down here. IT’s now in the 70’s. In Jacksonville last week it snowed. Not in Titusville. Yes, it’s a fruit. Seeds! But the Agricultural Deptartment calls it a fruit AND a vegetable. Apparently, if you cook with it it’s a veggie, but if it is used uncooked, like sliced on a sandwich or in a salad, it’s a fruit. Seriously. Also, throw that bag full of frozen anything on the floor. I do that with frozen chicken or meat or veggies. Works every time. It may take a couple slamming to the floor, but it will break up.❤
I heard this recently : "Intelligence is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to put a tomato in a fruit salad". Tickled me lolol

That’s pretty jam. I do a lot of canning in the winter. My house is too hot in the summer. I made habanero peach jelly this weekend. Spicy but yummy.

Turn the jars upside down and they will seal for sure. Back in the day I put wax on the top of jam and jelly and it sealed it right up.
