Are u using a type of multi surface paints Steve? Because I noticed its not coming off or flaking like those cheap acrylic paints. I use FolkArt Multi Surface Paints. I actually customized my G2004. He had awful teeth paint so I repainted it a light yellow and his claws were messy too so I repainted them to a darker glossy bone color. Im not an expert but Im learning and have improved alot since my first attempts back in high school and now Im in my late 20s still customizing and improving my painting skills. Also I repainted his dorsal fins to a boneish cream color based on a references I saw from X plus and some Maquettes.
i am defo doing this to my godzilla 2021 figure when i get it since the 2019 is so expensive why not just do what you did and who knows he may look amazing to me
Ngl. I'd totally love to see how you'd do a custom set of folded wings for The monsterverse ghidorah. I imagine alot of kit bashing and some entirely new sculpts would need to happen but I would love to see it/ commission you for a set. Been looking a while and I've not found any that would be up to snuff.
I do wish I could afford 2 so I can have a normal one, and atomic ver. I have made an atomic version, but never got to making a normal.I might just make this one normal. I don’t know, maybe u can give suggestions?
he used a black and grey for the regular g19 well he did black first then did a grey wash over it then for poster version he did a dark blue followed bye a grey wash for the rest of da body
I just did a repaint of the ‘19 bootleg Godzilla to a Kong Skull island Crawler and his fins glow in the dark and the top of the head is bone off white to match in the sun
Steve, I'm curious. Have you tried doing any of these customs using Blacklight paints?? I've been contemplating doing my "Creature from the Black Lagoon" sculpt in a blacklight-esque paint motif. I figure if I use certain shading and airbrushing techniques, I could create a really cool "glow in the dark" Gillman. So I was wondering if you've ever attempted any such thing with a figure. -Ryan
I have before. I did the spines of my original comic Godzilla with blacklist paints. They work pretty well but not the best for pure coverage. I usually I'll try to get he area close to the color I want, then add the blacklist paint overtop
It's a mix of colors. The brand I use is Liquetex and it's a few of thier brown colors mixed together. The Grey wash was with Folkart Grey paint and water. The dark grey was Liquetex neutral grey with mars black.

When you painted the normal custom, did you remove the metallic paint on the spines or did you paint them over with the black primer?

I believe it was either Applebarrel or Folkart Metallic blue and Liquetex White. You can find it at whalmart.

What shades of brown did you use?
A couple of ones from Liquitex. I tend to mix alot when I'm working on these so I don't have a specific color.
