  • ihihomeinspecti... As an Atlanta home inspector we provide Radon testing services. Here in the Atlanta area we have found several homes that have elevated readings of Radon gas. The following radon test was done in the North Georgia area in Jasper, Georgia. We recommend all homes be tested, not just by someone who is purchasing a new home, but by home owners who want to protect their loved ones that are still living in the home. Every home has some level of radon gas, the question always becomes is it elevated or not. Call us today at 404-788-2581 to schedule your Radon test and protect your loved ones. Thanks for showing a system with such a large reduction in radon levels.

    Radon is indeed around.
Check your home for radon with a digital radon detector (e.g. Corentium) to make sure you capture radon fluctuations. Results show up on the monitor

My home has a 1550 sq foot basement and tested at 16.5 pCi/L in general areas (four testing zones) and shut the tester inside the sump pump closet (with cover open) I measured a whopping 137.6 pCi/L! My home already had a passive radon system and was surprised to see such levels. Since it was already passive-- I just needed a fan and cut the pipe in the attic and installed it. To my surprise my levels dropped to .9 pCi/L and ranges on a long term test between .6 - 1.0 pCi/L. I just had one pipe going into the slab on mine though. Get tested! You can buy the Safety Siren Pro series 3 home radon tester (digital) for around $130. It is within .3 pCi/L of the pro level (loaned it to friends to try and verified on three different home tests.

Thank you so much for this informational video. We are doing a second test right now-the first was 18 in our basement. So we are concerned and we will have a mitigation system installed if necessary to protect us and our family.

As a mitigator they taught us to use as few elbows and fittings as possible because it creates deflection points and remember you're dealing with an atom.

Just air move in any fittings without problems

Would it be beneficial to have two suction fans instead of one specially when you have multiple pipes going into ground?

This home owner should be concerned about his illegal gas piping on his hot water tank along with the tank on a flimsy unrestrained stand .

Do you know which voltage of fan did they use for piping that was stretched out to be so many feet?

My basement has a level of 2.9 pCi/L. I hope to install a system like this, in conjunction with sealing the concrete.
I lived in the basement for 14 years before I knew about the radon, so if I get diagnosed with Cancer, I'll know why.

@Maxxarcade 2.9 is fairly low. I live in a Zone 1 area where the average is quite a bit higher than that.

I am in Anniston Al and having a hard time finding a local company to do radon mitigation. Does the guy you are referring to venture over here?

Radon is radiation. Exposure to radon gas is the #1 cause of lung cancer in the US for non-smokers. Homeowners may install radon mitigation themselves. For your safety and the safety of others, please refer to EPA radon mitigation system installation guidelines if you are doing the work yourself. Slab sealing and crack caulking is not considered a successful stand-along approach to radon mitigation. If you are hiring someone to test for radon, or install a radon mitigation system in your home, please know that many states require radon testing and radon mitigation/mitigators to be trained and licensed by the state's Department of Health. Contact your state's Dept of Health for more information
