What a fonkey suit, you have there, good man! As usual your videos are not only highly appreciated but an integral part of any good DCS Library. Cheers*
Why would someone use RWS over TWS? I’m a fairly new DCS user but it seems like TWS has all the good stuff including not sending a lock notification or fire indicator.
RWS will generate a return at longer ranges and will update contacts quicker in general. If you are trying to generate a picture at the longest possible range or wan't to scan a larger area more quickly then RWS is the way. TWS provides better situational awareness and is useful in complex target environments if you don't mind loosing some range and update speed.
I wonder what these radar screens looks like in the real world. In DCS they're small and I'm always zooming in to distinguish all the data and symbols.
They are small IRL, keep in mind though that the human eye has a much better resolution than whatever monitor you are using the play DCS. I suspect they are much easier to read IRL.
@@deephack thank you, I've been playing multiplayers and I don't see the numbers although there are awacs. maybe I should set something else. I have to move the cursor to see the angels altitude
Like Denis said, NWS is a multifunction control as most of the F-16 ones are. In A-G bombing mode it switches between weapon employment modes, in MAV mode it cycles between hardpoints etc.
@@ArchOfficial huh. These sims have come a long way since I played F/A 18 Hornet 3.0 as a teen. That’s for damn sure. I have DCS on my computer but I haven’t been able to put in the time to learn it because I’m a filthy casual.
It is also what you use to disconnect the boom when air to air refueling! Only to stop it early though, if you always fill to full its not really useful.
Hello Deephack! Just went through the vid for some refresh and memorization training and I realized that on the right MFD it says XMT OFF i. e. the data link 16 does not emit, if I remember correctly. This in turn would mean that you can still receive Link 16 info from other donors, while your own aircraft remains L 16 muted. Do I get this right?
Thank you for updating this kind of stuff, your tutorials, is helping me a lot.

Thanks mr deep! That answers a tonnage of questions on the new symbology! Was really curious about those chevrons.
Excellent content as always!

how to show altitude of radar contacts(number below them)
In this video that information is coming from the datalink and so you would need to have an AWACS aircraft in the mission.

OCTAGON! IT'S AN OCTAGON! 🤣
lol, I need to brush up on my geometry.
Why would you press nose wheel steering in the air? Isn’t that a landing gear setting?
It has multiple functions...in this case, it is the missile step switch in A2A mode

I actually don't know the effect of having this off.
