  • The latest results are back from my submission to get rare collectible stamps certified.
    Unfortunately there are a lot of fakes out there. Learn about what specific stamps are required to have a certificate of authenticity by serious collectors and buyers.
    Plus I find a very rare and valuable stamp that unfortunately is in horrible condition, but can make a nice space filler in someone's stamp collection.

    Your content and the information within is unmatched. I've been watching stamp collecting videos on RUclips for the last 4 years and I've learned so much and continue to learn more with each video you make. This one in particular. Some things I'd love to see in cert videos like this: 1. What you plan to do with the stamp based on the cert? Will you keep it, sell it? If you do plan to sell it, how will you interpret the info in the cert to determine your price point? 2. Leave the stamp's Scott info and value on screen the whole time you discuss the stamp. Thanks for all the hard work. Content creating can be a very stressful chore. Just know there are people like me getting a worthwhile education from your effort.

      Thanks for your awesome feedback and suggestions! I especially agree with leaving the info up longer. I thought the same thing when I watched it back. I also may try a third camera next time to only be closeups so I can set the stamp down to make it more stable and without having to focus it in. I’m new at this so the videos should improve over time. All the stamps I review are sold in my Facebook group U.S. Stamp Shop. As far as determining the sale price it’s usually a factor of face value depending on the issue, grade, and condition. And just knowing the market from studying it over time. You can see prices realized on the Stamp Values page on my website stampcollectors.us by entering a Scott number and seeing the sold prices based on grade and condition.

    Thanks for a great video! It was interesting to see the information on the certificates and your showing the different defects and also the excellent characteristics of the stamps themselves. I am learning from your videos! Love that!

    Even though I don't collect US stamps I can appreciate looking at the stamps, especially with the identification of stamps with common designs but scarce due to watermarks and printing. I specialize in Austria and have a rather substantial collection, from very common to scarce.

    @Ryan Which watermark detector do they use for the MNH stamps? Also, what is the process of submitting a certificate to Crowe? Thank you.

    • @ThatStampGuy
      @ThatStampGuy  22 дня назад

      I use Ronsonol lighter fluid for watermark detection. Best way to contact Crowe is by email. wtcrowe@aol.com

    I don't care for e grading what do you think?

    • @ThatStampGuy
      @ThatStampGuy  Месяц назад

      I don’t use it. Mainly because I use a Mac and it’s not available. But also because ive seen results from it that I didn’t agree with probably due to it not knowing specific issues. I tend to do better with just my eyes. But if you’re new to grading perhaps it could be useful. But I wouldn’t be suprised if its results didn’t match the expertizing services results.

    Why not use APS or PF for certification?

    • @ThatStampGuy
      @ThatStampGuy  13 дней назад

      For identification they cost a bit more so I go with Crowe. Like I said he used to be with PSE and still is an outsourced expert for certain issues.
