Awesome! Thank you for watching! Yeah, they’re incredible animals! We’re thankful to be dipping our toes into the mule world- it’s super fun to be around a bunch of different mules and mule people! 😊
Let me state the obvious, that was an awesome time and I really appreciate that you shared it with us. I really enjoyed seeing Squirrel do his tricks, the kids on the mules, and Alyssa looked way good in the clinic. Again, awesomeness.
WOW!!!! Just when think I can’t love the channel any more, you drop a Drew Holcomb tune in there. I grew up with his brother Sam, and his late brother Jay. Full on goosebumps!
Mules are lovely. I never realised how sweet they are and how responsive to people. I always thought they were difficult, "stubborn as a mule" etc, but on an earlier video they are more hardy and sensible than horses.
They are great! I feel like the folks that say mules are stubborn, are impatient and hard handed or heard that rumor from someone who is lol If you try to force a mule they will shut down and refuse. But if you build a solid relationship with them, they are very very willing! ☺️ They are versatile and really can make some great all around mounts! ❤️
The Old 'Drunk in charge of a Mule' geezer was a crowd pleaser, huh? And his Mule was a kissable sort too. Worth his price. I was never drunk in charge, but giggles would see me slithering off sometimes to the astonishment of my pony. He was such a sweet safe boy.
Haha! Yeah, he’s a well known mule trainer in our area… he trains and sells SUPER broke mules 😊 That’s so cool! A safe equine is SO worth their price 😊
I really love mules but I'm impressed to see that a mule is sold for $30,000!! I live in France near the German border and the Swiss border and here at this price we have a sport horse with very good origins, I find that a little excessive in fact.
No, one came from a north Idaho broker who sold him for a client and one was acquired from a mule packer/dealer in Weiser. They are both older mollies but great trail mules. We love your videos. Hope to meet you guys some time.
@@MTN_BUILT thank YOU! Have been riding all day (ok, sorry it’s been on horses hope you don’t hate me) but my husband and I are thrilled to sit down to see your video over dinner in Kentucky. (And picking out multiple mules we liked!)
@@ShelbyHume haha! That’s awesome! We love horses too! We both fell in love with horses before we ever even gave a thought to mules 😊 I think they’re equally as good for the soul! 🙌🏼
have been watching some mule videos lately. i am liking mules more and more. one thing i don't understand is that the sale prices seem kind of high when you cannot breed mules for offspring. mules don't seem to be as prevalent around the country, is why they are more expensive than horses?
They have skyrocketed in the last several years. I think people are becoming more aware of them and the benefit of them. The Amish buying draft mules also drives the market and it sounds like there was a shortage of them. So simply supply and demand. But it’s crazy regardless of what’s causing it! 😂
Greetings from Canada. I absolutely love mules! We have one female at a nearby donkey sanctuary, her name is Gina.... She's absolutely gorgeous, looks to have some Palomino in her, circles around her tail. She's the boss, over 80 donkeys, including 1 Mammoth female donkey.
Greetings! 😊 That’s awesome! Mule’s are such incredible animals. And that’s great that you have one and get to be involved with a donkey sanctuary! Gina sounds like a pretty mule 😊 Thank you for watching and taking time to leave such a nice comment!
Very good work from you guys. Thank you! Only one question, it is possibile to adapt to a mule a classic saddle for horses, cause of the back of the mule... How do you handle their tricky backs 😍
Thank you so much for the kind words! That is a GREAT question and it’s something that we struggle with. Our white mule is more horse-shaped, so he does decently well with a horse saddle, but our dun mule has a super flat back, so we bought a saddle with mule bars specifically for her. Unfortunately it still doesn’t fit her very well 😕 So whenever we get a new saddle, I think we’ll take the time to haul our mules to a saddle shop and have different trees and bars tried on the mules to be sure we get one that’s a good fit. You’re definitely right in saying their backs are tricky! 😊
Oh that’s so cool! Alyssa wants a mini mule super bad! We need more acreage 😅🤦🏻♂️ That’s awesome that you brought him out of a kill pen and to a good home!
Yeah, there’s really a difference! Mules like to be able to process things mentally 😊 That’s super cool that you guys raised mules. We would love to do that some day- we’d have a hard time selling them though! lol
There was a really nice one at this sale! It’s the dirty palomino toward the end of this video… he was a nice one and I think he sold for around $20K 😬
@MTN_BUILT thanks for your reply! I'll watch the video again and take a look. I've been thinking that I'd like a gaited mount when I retire, and the more I know about mules, the more they seem like what I want. Thanks for offering this content!
@@lsieu oh that’s awesome! A good mule would be a great choice 😊 I just checked and the gaited mule is at 21:42 in the video. I’m excited for you- retirement AND a new equine would be a heck of a year! 😊 Don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s ever anything we could help with!

Ok was this sale just a couple days ago why are mules afraid of cows and is that true of other animals they come into contact with where did Alyssa get that hat it's becoming and different from any I saw at the event are the mules that race considered race mules or is that everyone that wants to race can as far as which mule I would pick I have no idea what to look for but assume that those people breed them train them before any auction how much would your mules sell for just curious not that you would your dog doing tricks was cool I noticed during the race that some riders had poles prodding the backsides I know in horseracing they do that and where is salmon is it close to you and who cares for your other animals when you're gone thanks kray
It’s fairly common for mules to be afraid of cows, but they generally get over it once they’ve pushed cows a few times 😊 Alyssa’s hat is from Rapid City and her friend made her the pretty hat band. No, most the mules are just regular riding mules, but the owners sure want to win the race for some reason! lol You’re right that most these folks train and sell mules for their living 😊 I’d say we could sell Clyde for around $10-15k, Reata for $15-20k, Cedar for $5k, and Josey for $10k, if we spent a couple weeks getting them ready for a sale 😊 I pray we never have to go that though! That would be the worst day ever. Clyde is by far our best mule, but Reata would probably just go for more because of her unique color 😊 Yeah, Salmon is pretty close to us, thankfully. It’s close to the Montana border in Eastern Idaho. But we have a neighbor or a local friend feed for us when we’re out of town 😊 Thanks for watching and asking fun questions! Have a great day today! 😊
Actually as some of the best horseman said, “a mule is like a horse but more so.” Meaning you teach them the wrong thing or get impatient, they are going to remember that. Mules are very smart and it takes a lot of good horsemanship and patience to train one well. ☺️👍🏼

Yes I am impressed with mules. The fact that they are sure footed and don't spook as easy as opposed to horses. And the ears...❤
We took the two year old to a petting zoo and they had mule rides for the kids, such cool and gentle animals.
Oh that’s so cool!! They are ☺️
