You're the one catalan guy that has also ran If... PSX! It's so cool to see you coming back and running SMT1 too! We've been wondering how the game would run with english patch so this will be a great reference. GGs on the run!
Thank you so much! I'm always interested in the strategies behind speedrunning, that's why I wanted to record and upload those videos and at least have a reference about what can work to beat the game efficiently. I know my input is definitely not the best, but if I can contribute to the community with a sample, I'm more than satisfied. Your speedruns have also been an inspiration to finally try to upload mines, I greatly appreciate your support! :)
Why did you invest in Magic? Does the ItemDMG Scale off it or something? And its interesting to see that you can actually skip the Basilica Bossrush and aim straight for Ashura and Michael, always thought it was mandatory
Precisely! Hama beads deal magic damage based on your magic stat, so it's actually quite useful to deal significant damage to bosses and enemies. Eventually, it's not enough to keep up with endgame bosses but it gets the job done for 70% of the game.
Yooooo nice speedrun bro I'm planning to do an SMT 1 video and I'm looking for some Ps1 footage of it, can I use yours? of course I'll give you credits for it in the video. c:
@@sagitariog9g9g9g9 YOOOOO man what's up? I uploaded the video today, and as I promised I mentioned your channel on it and in the description as well c:
Not at all! At the beginning, I dump all 18 points into speed for the MC, as it is a crucial stat in order to escape from as many random battles as possible. Additionally, it increases the chances of surprise attacks, even in bosses, which is also important since turn 1 actions are the most important in a battle. Of course, being able to attack before the enemy does it is also relevant! As for the Chaos Hero, he needs to learn estoma ASAP and the only way to learn that spell earlier is to increase his magic proficiency, an invisible stat that is increased with higher levels and higher magic stat mainly. Continously increasing his magic with every level up allows the player to have an early access to estoma, which is extremely relevant for the speedrun. Also, having an absurd damage output with his fire spells and hama beads is important as well. Regarding the Law hero, he also gets a lot of magic level ups, but I also invest some speed on him since the PSX version of SMT1 no longer gives priority to magic, so now you actually need to outspeed enemies naturally. Just like the Chaos Hero, dealing high damage with spells and hama beads is an efficient strategy against most enemies in the game. Finally, as for the Heroine, she also needs magic to deal significant damage, learn spells quickly and increase her MP. Just like the Law Hero, she needs to outspeed enemies to stun them with Mazio or Zionga, but we also increase her INT since it mainly affects her magic accuracy which is extremely important since we don't want to miss a thunder spell and let the enemies act. I hope this explanation clarifies your doubts!
Not necessarily. Your alignment will shift towards law, meaning that you'll only get to fight one of the Phantoms, but you can still revert it to neutral or even chaos.
@@phillemon7664I'd argue that Chaos is the worst one from a gameplay perspective. It has the most backtracking and also the least amount of bosses, making it feel pretty underwhelming.
The Hama arrows really put an emphasis on the word "Ham" in the name

Cool vid! If you don't mind me asking, what was the rationale for the stats you chose for each character in the beginning?
Not at all!

Wait, you can skip all the boss in great cathedral with no consequences other than a few level under ?
Correct!
im sorry. 1 hour what?
Nice vid.
How are you moving so fast in the overworld? That and I noticed you can skip the transport animation, how’s that?
Press X while moving in the overworld to speed up the movement
Press start when the transport animation triggers to skip it
I have a question, if you say yes to thor does that lock you up to law path completely?
Not necessarily. Your alignment will shift towards law, meaning that you'll only get to fight one of the Phantoms, but you can still revert it to neutral or even chaos.
@@sagitariog9g9g9g9 Thank you
Nice. Screw that jack o lantern.
Ah yes… the sucky path…
The best narratively and philosophically but the worst gameplay wise because you have to jump through so many hoops
