At this point the high price isn’t because of the value of the hits, but the age and rarity of the booster box. You’re pretty much paying 300 for the experience of opening the packs.
Try looking up Double Crisis, that set is four pack only at least to my knowledge but it's also ridiculously expensive. Granted I believe it's because it's older than the Sun and Moon, but seeing how bonkers the price is will floor you for just a single pack alone.
@@richardquinata76 i have lots of them 4 pack blisters :P they used to be 30$ for the longest i felt they where underpriced, but yeah theres not much interesting in that set
Me and all of my brothers used to go to the local card shop and always buy some Pokémon packs. I remember how low the pull rates were, it was crazy, but it was so hype when we would pull something. Good old days.
Sword and Shield pull rates are the same as Sun and Moon pretty much. Especially the first two years of Sword and Shield and the only reason you would get slightly more hits was because two base Ultra Rare(V and VMAX) where Sun and Moon only had GX. Even Sword and Shield year 3 was similar to Sun and Moon 3rd year except the trainer galleries gave you an extra 3 or 4 hits per booster box. So if you take away trainer galleries and account for there being two base Ultra Rare types they are pretty similar. The real change was in Scarlet and Violet and they've already started tinkering with pull rates for S&V because they made them too easy and pushed them back some but they are still nowhere as bad as S&M and S&S.
@@poke_wounds9175 You’re not wrong about the first couple years of Sword and Shield. I just felt like overall, mostly due to the Trainer Galleries, you got more pulls more constantly from Sword and Shield. But I didn’t get to open up a ton of Sun and Moon to compare, I just have to go off of videos like this one
That's some horrendous pull rates. Just glad I came back recently where the pulls are good. The only sad part is I missed some of the cool sets from Sword and Shield era.
I feel like sealed boxes should reflect the highest price of a chase card in the set. No shot id spend that much on this set when I could probably buy the whole set for around that price
Sometimes it’s too bad the sealed product for some sets is so expensive compared to the cards. This set is a perfect example. I like a handful of the chase cards, but it would be crazy to buy a box and rip them.
7 year old box and it's only 300 bucks, you can tell the price is only for the fact that the box is old and rare. Rebel Trash is at 200 bucks, and that set freaking sucks, but it's 2/3 the price for a way newer set.
Seems to me what's changed with these boxes is the regular holos are just devalued. Boxes since basic contained 12 hits per box. Hits were holos. With odds 1 hit in 3 packs since the beginning. I sold packs at my retail shop since they were first released. You used to get 12 holos per box, and up to the last several years holos were a hit. Sun and moon only 6 holos per box but nobody values holos anymore even though they are more rare than before. . Maybe in 20 years these holos will be valuable like days of old. Sun and moon base beats the heck out of Black and White Emerging Powers where the most expensive card in a $1500 box is $7.
I'm not sure how to feel about the Sun and Moon era. I never really latched onto the games, and there's some cool cards, but not as exciting to me as newer sets and Diamond/Pearl and Black/White eras
I think the reason Sun & Moon base boxes are climbing is because the very first/early prints of booster boxes were found to have a guaranteed gold Secret Rare card inside one pack.
I always loved the game, but the 151 set recently got me back into collecting the cards. It all started again with you, then I saw a live stream raiding Real Breaking Nate. I was sold. Now I watch a bunch of different Pokemon RUclipsrs and I couldn't be happier.
0:54 Love what you do, just started collecting again after I bought my boys their first tins. Started back in 99 and stopped around 07. Keep the content coming and looking forward to the journey.
I have a rule. If a sets main chase card is not worth close to the booster boxes value there is no point opening it. In many cases if the top 3 or 4 cards in these older sets equals the box price I don't open.
Sun and Moon era had rough pull rates, and to think 6 pulls was normal to us back then. But at least the code cards had more value to help you gain some money back lol
back when sets were still manageable. I completed SuMo base set, guardians rising, burning shadows and Crimson Invasion no time at all. Now sets are crazy big
Sun and Moon was when i began colelcting and as a 12 year old, it was always so frustrating not getting anything in ETBs, especially since they were 50$ and i had to pay with my own money. Definitely dont miss the pull rates nowadays
seeing openings like these makes me appreciate even more the newer packs, where you are guaranteed at least two reverses and one holo... I can't imagine going through a whole box to find so few good pulls
Even when I’ve gotten Sun & Moon base set packs in collection boxes, I’ve never pulled anything good from the set. That era had crazy rough pull rates.
It's kind of crazy to me how the value of cards is low on sets with lower pull rates. And then sets with higher pull rates have high values. I'm glad they did adjust pull rates though.
Yeah, most old stuff is only valuable because of the booster boxes being rare. Price plummets when just buying packs, and then plummets again when getting rares.
What are your thoughts on products that are more than the potential of what's in the box? I mean I get that sealed product is one thing but at the same time it's weird and hard to understand how something can be worth WAY more than the potential cards pulled from it.
Sun and moon was the booster set that I opened up the most during that era thanks to Costco exclusives, although I wish I bought more other sets from that.
Love to see you opening these old booster boxes Rev! I know you've done them before, but hope we can see another Evolutions booster box opened here! They're my favourite :P
I remember when I was younger and I would find Sun and Moon in dollar trees for a $1.25 and would have so much fun with it-definitely miss it, I still play Ultra sun to this day :)
Underrated set for sure. Love my sun and moon. Picked up a couple etbs recently of it. I actually had my best luck ever with etb sun and moon base and profited $2 lol.
Never understood why booster boxes of old stuff go for so much. I get why, print etc...but for the cost of a box, I can go buy some banger psa cards. Just this box alone, raw, I could get a 151 zard and blastoise, paldean fates zard and mew, and been much much happier.
Cosmic eclipse was the best in my opinion i remember my first 3 packs of it from a pokeball tin i pulled one of the rarest cards. A mallow & Lana tagteam Rainbow rare.
Pokémon used to be a harder hobby to have. I would only open like a pack every week to trade with friends in elementary school and I would go 10 weeks at a time without any pulls at all.
At this point the high price isn’t because of the value of the hits, but the age and rarity of the booster box. You’re pretty much paying 300 for the experience of opening the packs.

Beautiful set but kinda rough
Nah you’re paying 300 to make a video. No one is paying 300 without filming it and putting it up. Lol

Thanks for the forewarning! I started collecting in 2016. So I may not know everything about stuff before like Black and White era...
Bro could probably heat a house for a couple years just by burning all the extra bulk and energy cards he gets😂
It’s crazy that Sun and Moon is 7 years old and that was the era I started collecting
Danggg time flies... 7 years?!?
we old

We REALLY old
This was nostalgic. This was the first set i ever openned and managed to get a GX. It will always have a place in my heart.

This box makes “chilling reign” look like, Paldean Fates…😂😅
It still feels crazy to me that Sun and Moon is 8 years old now
Edit: Sorry guys, I meant the game
7 years not 8
Yeah if you watch the first 2 seconds he says 7 years lol
Yeah it is
Love those GX, so nostalgic
Sorry for the confusion everyone, I was referencing the game, which was released on Nov. 18, 2016. Didn't mean for the error
It's wild that Sun/Moon was that long ago. Feels so much more recent.
Thanks for the forewarning, I'll grab another box if I feel like cracking a bunch of packs!

Cool looking set but definitely not worth ripping; Youd need to hit 8 of the biggest pulls to break even
Kind of glad the fomo is unfounded with some of these sets. I’d rather buy singles than boosters at this point.
I think the reason Sun & Moon base boxes are climbing is because the very first/early prints of booster boxes were found to have a guaranteed gold Secret Rare card inside one pack.

That Solgaleo GX was one of my first big banger pulls back in the day, it may only be worth $3 but it was part of an unbeatable deck.

Tough set, we're spoiled with scarlet & violet 💜
SM base may not be my favorite, but the SM era cards is definitely one of my favs.
That card cost vs. box cost ratio is truly absurd. Gives a whole new meaning to “fun cost.”
Lillie is probably my favorite. So far, I've only collected two so far. So much more to go.
This is nostalgic for me, I remember opening these when I was so young

Love seeing older sets open. 2017 doesn't feel like 7 years ago though😅
It doesn’t help that SM Base was printed to oblivion keeping Singles down. Makes it that much tougher when trying to justify opening the set
Such a fun set to open. Bought a case to try pull a Full Art Lily at release. Didn't get her but the experience was worth it.
What are your thoughts on products that are more than the potential of what's in the box? I mean I get that sealed product is one thing but at the same time it's weird and hard to understand how something can be worth WAY more than the potential cards pulled from it.
The best card in the set is the Alolan Dugtrio 😂 (Sorry Pokerev)
Sun and moon was the booster set that I opened up the most during that era thanks to Costco exclusives, although I wish I bought more other sets from that.
That’d be a cool series, trying to complete the set by purchasing the cards with the price of the box as a maximum
That’s a rough box. I’d hate to have that happen. I’m actually lucky that I got in after the sun and moon era.
Sun & Moon base set is one of my all time favorite sets so it's awesome to see someone still making videos opening it!🤩🤩
Love to see you opening these old booster boxes Rev! I know you've done them before, but hope we can see another Evolutions booster box opened here! They're my favourite :P
The character cards improved a lot the pull rate
Not that rare, but way better than bulk
I have a lot of this set but still missing a lot of the set. I have them in a Go tin till I can place them into a binder
Box prices of some of these old sets are scary, but you get the fun of opening old packs.
Sun and moon is only of the only newer games I’ve actually played! Cool to watch
Just got my hands on one of these boxes, I think I will keep it sealed for now. I didn't realize the pulls were so low.
I'm terrible at keeping stuff sealed. I'd love to hang on to some stuff like this even if I just open them several years from now.
not worth tbh. any of the sun & moon is worth it except the base set
Rest in peace fairy energy! Love this set and love watching the videos! Keep it up!
Just about impossible to justify opening that box, glad I started in Sword & Shield. Thanks for doing it for us!
Sun and Moon sets have such nice artwork. Have a great day everyone!
I remember when I was younger and I would find Sun and Moon in dollar trees for a $1.25 and would have so much fun with it-definitely miss it, I still play Ultra sun to this day :)
Definitely a slept on set imo….kinda like the steam siege of the sun and moon era😂
Underrated set for sure. Love my sun and moon. Picked up a couple etbs recently of it. I actually had my best luck ever with etb sun and moon base and profited $2 lol.
Beautiful artwork on the commons though. That's something at least 😅
That was rough Rev. Thank you for taking the shot for us.
The only thing I really remember of sun and moon is crimson invasion. I opened so many packs from crimson
Always fun to see the sets I've skipped over the years opened!
Damn; I openend some packs and though that it had bad luck, now i realize it's just horrible pull rates for this set xD
That was pretty brutal, man. Keep your older booster boxes sealed, folks. Haha!
The whole Sun and moon set was my favourite set ever released
Favorite cards from this set is what made this set great for me and will forever be.
I would try cosmic eclipse or ultra prism. The best ones🎉
Never understood why booster boxes of old stuff go for so much. I get why, print etc...but for the cost of a box, I can go buy some banger psa cards. Just this box alone, raw, I could get a 151 zard and blastoise, paldean fates zard and mew, and been much much happier.
man didn't know Sun and Moon pull rate was that bad, i pre ordered Temporal Forces and looking forward to that box set.
Cosmic eclipse was the best in my opinion i remember my first 3 packs of it from a pokeball tin i pulled one of the rarest cards. A mallow & Lana tagteam Rainbow rare.
sun and moon!!! I love this set! It brings back so many memories!
Pokémon used to be a harder hobby to have. I would only open like a pack every week to trade with friends in elementary school and I would go 10 weeks at a time without any pulls at all.
Meanwhile in S&V era, people complain that there's too many hits, so its not special enough when you get a good card. lol
Haven't even seen a pack of S&M Base for a while. I wouldn't mind adding one of these to the collection.
Only opened one box of SM base but feel like I did pretty well on it. I pulled the Lillie, rainbow Umbreon, and full art Umbreon.
I opened a few packs of S&M base last week, didn't pull much, but was still fun to open!
i have a lillie full art, i dont remember where i got it, but i really wish i had kept it in better condition, its probably a 7 or 8
sun and moon base and xy evolutions will always be the most nostalgic to me
I love opening the packs it’s excitement of seeing what you haven’t seen yet and I appreciate the artwork ~ they’re all amazing 🥰
So great you give so many Pookemon products away to viewers. Ive been giving my doubles to neighbor kids and it def makes their day.
I'm still waiting for Scarlet and Violet to turn a corner like Sun and Moon and Sword and Shield did. Other than 151 that is.
I think there are some GREAT cards in this set.. not sure why its so slept on
Sun and Moon feels oddly old! Doesn't feel like it's been that long!
Man, I cant believe I missed out on so many good eras of Pokemon. Back in the hobby after 151 dropped after taking 20+ years off.
The XY and Sun and Moon generations were my favorite era of sets
Wasn't collecting yet when Sun & moon came out. They have amazing sets though
I hope to be able to open up some Sun and Moon era packs.
Hi Rev! It's always worth it opening vintage boxes...until it isn't...
Can't believe that 2017 was 7 years ago, time flies by. BTW love your channel.
Sun and moon was pretty good for me, I got a full art out of 2 packs. I would love to open some more though!
Sun and moon was tough, even the tag team sets but damn when you hit it was a great feeling, like you achieved something.. Lol
Gosh I didn’t realize how old the sun and moon set is makes me feel old :( one of my favourite sets though :3
i miss back in that day when i would open sun&moon packs and being excited when i pulled a full art or a GX
The pull rate is brutal, compared to the modern sets. Can’t believe it’s already 7 years.
Where do you annouce give away winners
