@@francescobruno418 still one of the best in Italy, oscar winner, respected internationally and knows how to direct and writing beautiful screenplays. He's not the top of the top but surely his films are good, entertaining and intelligent. Also the photography in this one is brilliant.

A quality director who has always made use of the precious artistic complicity he has with an actor of the caliber of Toni Servillo.

yep yep, other folks commented it already but ‘wolf of wall street’ vibes was definitely my first thoughts. Not being able to speak Italian nor Spanish (I thought they were speaking Spanish initially), I had not the slightest idea that it was Berlusconi. But I was laughing anyways, even at the trailer, because even as an English only speaker, I could see how crazy and silly this movie is! I will like to watch the whole thing with English subs.

LORO sono quelli che contano (almeno dal 2006 e il 2010, periodo tra III e IV governo del Cavaliere, prima della caduta... e possibile rinascita!? sembrerebbe) LUI è la guida, il capo (IL TORERO): “un uomo nuovo perennemente antico” - secondo il regista - “in una specie di purgatorio moderno”.
Il film è tronco, appositamente spezzato in divenire per raccontare e ammaliare lo spettatore in scena pecore morte congelate, un rinoceronte a spasso per la Città eterna, un dromedario a una festa, un ratto che fa sbandare un mezzo della nettezza urbana a spargere rifiuti su di LORO!: allegorie sarcastiche e malinconiche dei silenzi in piano sequenza sorrentiniani.
Una storia verosimile e inventata con tanti riferimenti espliciti a personaggi veri e figure se non figuri... reali. Un melodramma farsesco “amorale e decadente ma straordinariamente vitale” con tanta gente “prevedibile ma indecifrabile” secondo il giudizio tenero e in parte assolutorio del premio oscar napoletano, che si chiuderà in un MISTERO (di contraddizioni).
LORO è fatto di due LUI in un Servillo sdoppiato nel dialogo iniziale tra il CAV e il DORIS (quello vero delle assicurazioni) tra piazzisti... venditori soli col proprio EGO destinati alla SOLITUDINE (“l'uomo più solo è chi vende perché parla e non ascolta mai”) della GRANDE TENEREZZA cifra di SORRENTINO per un BERLUSCONI lontanissimo dai fasti del suo DIVO andreottiano (buonanima). Poi c'è il rapporto con la prima moglie, VERONICA, il terremoto dell'AQUILA. Il finto vulcano finale in giardino e i pompieri stanchi dopo il CROCIFISSO felliniano emerso dalle macerie sui titoli di coda stampati sulle facce vere degli eroi del terremoto.
Un film senza DIO ma con un dio (scritto con la d minuscola in corsivo) di potere, strisciante dietro, che ha una faccia sporca e una pulita, o meglio, una meno sporca... da scoprire.
Ma c'è Proto nel cast? O.O

Vedi un servillo - purtroppo tagliato dalla versione finale grande bellezza che in tutta serietà approccia Fanny Ardant in un francese che subito sfocia in una specie di dialetto barese e che lei, gran signora dentro e fuori dal personaggio, non gli fa pesare minimamente e anzi gli sorride benevola. Situazionismo puro.
