y'all have got to get working on a heat pump model. it's not that much more complex and is a lot more efficient than electrical resistive or fuel-generated heating
Unfortunately not. While it would initially be more efficient, it would quickly be underpowered in colder climates. We are doing testing but the limitations of automotive refrigerant is the issue.
Very interesting. Is there a kit with just the compressor, and would I (relatively easily) be able to use my stock heater core/evaporator/climate controls? Of course custom work would need to be done. I can easily find all the A/C components for my system that I need, but I would really like to have something that I can relocate elsewhere and won't draw on my engine.
Looks like this is the ticket for keeping the dog van cool in 100+ Texas summer heat. I don't see where roof mount 12v systems can even come close to your BTU to power ratio.
That is exactly the idea. Because our split system uses the most efficient parts we can source, combined with large surface area on the condenser, we get the most BTU/hr out of the system.
Really tidy looking kit! How much power (Watts) does this pull on a hot day? I saw you answered that the refrigerant is the limiting factor for making a heat pump. What refrigerant do the EV's that run heat pumps run? Thanks for all your hard work creating this product!
The system does not draw any additional wattage on a hot day, it stays peaked at 1100W. Refrigerant is a limiting factor at 12V. EV's run 400+ V and just run heat pump's at 3X the capacity. At 400V that is only an increase of 6 amps, but at 12V that is a increase of 200 amps.
Would it be possible to use only the compressor with stock AC parts (condenser, evaporator and control) ? I'd like to add a supercharger on my car, but that mean I would lose the AC compressor. So I'd like to swap from belt driven to electric driven compressor.
You can do it but you'll need to figure out a lot of details to make it work for your car. I did an engine swap and didn't have space for anything other than an alternator.
Really GR8T video on what looks to be a very stellar product. I get chills just looking at it. Goodyear, Bussman etc.. 'we are not worthy" Thank you. Cheers from So.Ca.USA 3d House On the Left
@@starfirerider You have voltage and you have amprage in every circuit. Amperage is the strength of a current of electricity carried by a conductor or generated by a machine, measured in ampères.
Warranty length is not a indicator of quality. We take care of our customers long after their warranty has expired if its a manufacturing defect at no charge. 1 year is industry standard.
I would like to see a db rating on the compressor. think the compressor would bring in a ton of heat which would be problematic but some applications there just isnt room.
We don't recommend mounting the compressor inside as heat is a byproduct and the compressor and lines leading up to it will sweat from condensation. It's not loud, its several dB quieter than the condenser fans.
The 48V system will be exactly the same as the 12/24 systems, simply different input. You would need to do a BTU calculation but I suspect 16,000BTU/h is not enough for such a large vehicle unless you are in a very mild climate.
With the condenser mounted under the vehicle, would it be safe to hose it down after a long camping trip to remove dust? if not what would be the procedure to minimize or remove dust? thanks.
Yes, absolutely. Treat it exactly like you would the rest of your vehicle. Everything is rated for water/dust ingress. Hose it off after a particularly dusty or muddy trip. Keeping it clean will make the system most efficient.
Flash to 1978! Our volks wagen bus had split a/c unit. Had the condensers mounted underneath floor board. Center mounted plenty of room since no drive shaft. Never had a problem with rocks/stones/pebbles...but that vehicle was plenty high off pavement. Submerged those fans several times during hurricane seasons..never hurt them...
It will shut down when voltage reaching the compressor hits 10.5V. However most of our customers use LifePO4 batteries which have. BMS that would shut down when the battery nears 0% SOC.
it can be run off of your 12v battery without the engine running, solar would depend on how many watts/amps you have available, their page says it'll pull 1100 watts about 85amps at 12.4v
Good afternoon. I am building a custom car and want to use your system in my right-side body pylon air intake. Is your V3 kit adaptable for a 2-seat cab?
We absolutely wish it was less as well. Unfortunately quality components are expensive. I promise you, you get what you pay for with our kit. If we could make it for less we would definitely sell it for less as we would sell quite a bit more! Hopefully in the future as supply chain issues settle down we are able to get better pricing and produce these for less.
Why? We have hundreds of kits in the hands of customers and each kit has 8 Burgaflex connectors installed and rarely is there an issue. Burgaflex sells millions of these worldwide, its a proven product.
How much electric current does it draw ? can the existing alternator handle the extra power? And i cannot find the cooling capacities from the ad of such systems.
How it can be installed in old cars ...1960 to 1989 models ...any video for conversion or installation vidoe plz aharw

the huge alternator mandatory with its 50% losses put more draw on your engine then the typical ac compressor on a belt drive. 😂
