  • Good footage worth watching of beautiful racing yachts framed by the Toronto skyline.
We observe that the boat on our hip, NORSEMAN, headed up too early before the starting signal, but still dialed up better than us, creating that gauge to weather, preventing us from poking out our bow and disrupting his airflow with our leebow, hopefully forcing him to tack away to the unfavored port tack and having to duck behind crossing competitors. Notice LAFAYETTE behind him quickly dialing up to optimal point and speed quickly disappearing behind his sails. A bit of that was our perspective, as we had pointing issues and kept falling down.
Prestart, we could have come up into the wind and forced NORSEMAN to do the same hoping to run them over the start line early, but playing bumper boats is not an option, and gentlemanly behavior and concern for safety is one of the great things about sailing.
    It was a beautiful day!

What kind of boats are those? I mean what kind of sailing design? The one with the brown hull doesn't seem to have any cutting edge. Is the hull's cross-section circular all the way to the bow?
