In his fascinating presentation Marc Reddy, currently Managing Director of Stagecoach South, recounted the period 1987 - 1997 when the Bournemouth and Poole area was a focus of competition in the local bus market. The use of minibuses enabled "side road" services to be created that reached residential areas unserved by the incumbent operators, Bournemouth Transport and Wilts & Dorset. The rise and decline of operations such as Charlie's Cars, Badger Vectis and White Buses were described along with examples of publicity that they provided.
