Since you're consistently surprised that a large chunk of your audience has little to no experience with D&D I'll tell you my experience. Living in a country with a non-existant nerd culture, D&D and other TTRPGs were just things I'd hear about online, I can't tell you how envious I was. It just sounded so fun and... engaging I guess. I was most envious of the stories that came out of it. Most just don't have the opportunity to play irl and are too shy for online. Now, since then I did try online D&D a few times, as well as WFRP... But the result was the same all times. I'm a nervous wreck when it comes to roleplaying, I stutter a lot and I'm just a mess in general. On top of that I tend to get unbearable bored when I don't have anything to do (mostly happens when it's not my turn in combat) I have attention issues anyway so even though it makes me feel bad, I tend to browse reddit when I'm not doing anything. So yeah, wasn't what I was imagining every game I joined died someways in too...
D4 are basically Caltrops, that's why. Also my DM still uses EXP; he says it's because it gives us a better idea of when we're about to level up, which works for me because there are some interactions I want my Ranger to have that only make sense closer to leveling up. He did say that if we used milestones we'd be at about the same level we are now anyway.

That wasn't a vote, it was a quiz. It wasn't asking for opinions, it actually had a correct answer (based on what people have made on D&D Beyond, which may mean it isn't *actually* the correct answer).
"Dragonborn, a descendent of dragons" And that, if I recall correctly, is the lore reason; Dragonborn aren't descended from dragons, they were made by dragons. Sort of in their image but with the idea of being good at manual labour, which obviously means being humanoid, in mind.

I like to allow my players to choose either to start at level 2, or to roll (d4-1) to choose their level, for a potential of starting at levels 1, 2, or 3. As for me, the highest level character I ever had was an 17 wizard/cleric/true necromancer, back in high school. Never made it to 20.... Maybe I would have but I've been the forever DM for 16 years now. Ended up boosting my old lev 17 necromancer to 19 and using them as a villain in a campaign to kill them off ad they hadn't been touched in years. It was bittersweet but a very memorable portion of the overall campaign.
I have never played DND before. I will now play a one shot where my character is lvl 20. Also at the same time I will play a montage where my character spends decades grinding XP and going from lvl one to lvl 20. That was fun. I'm going to imagine more now. Cut to the scene of me alone with no vr headset and instead my eyes are just closed.
The best starting level is level 3 as it's the best to give you room in your back story on how you got your basic training of your subclass and it makes combat more interesting and rp
It always seemed dumb to me that some classes don't get their sub class until later levels. Want to be an artillerist artificer? No gun until level 3. Wizard who studied X in school? No, you learned your school of magic by killing a slime. Trained to be any of the interesting fighter subclasses? Too bad, your cavalier doesn't have a mount, your psi warrior forgot his Jedi training, your arcane archer only gets his years of training on the walk back from a cave. Many classes are written like they expect a time skip between level 2 and 3.

1:34 Anyone else feel it that one should have gone more like: "1. Lawful/Neutral/Chaotic Good/just Good 2. Neutral Evil/Chaotic Neutral 3. Neutral Evil/Chaotic Evil, Neutral 4. same as in the poll 5. same as in the poll"? The first answer would be the most "right thing to do" out of these (in my opinion), so I fail to see how it wouldn't fit any given variety of Good, albeit with a difference in the exact reasoning as to why you would do it depending on your stance on the Lawful/Chaotic axis. The second doesn't strike me as good at all; you are bargaining with someone's life here - if your character demands compensation for saving someone, they're either an opportunist or out to spite whoever is affected: What is 'Neutral Good' about that? Lastly, I can see the point of the third answer being considered Neutral in a "not getting involved" sense, but the _"and see what happens"_ bit conjours up the image of onlookers rather filming the scene with their phones than call an ambulance, which I wouldn't really call neutral, so much as gross negligence. I know D&D's (and Pathfinder's) alignment systems are neither to be taken too rigidly, nor should they be compared to real-world morality as there is no universal definitions of good and evil in the real world and everyone's opinion on what should be considered what will be different, but within the confines of D&D, would this take make more sense? Less? I'd like to hear your thoughts on this _completely non-controversial_ topic. Edit: Formatting was all messed up.
I had a character who used your isekaid background as a dnd loving shut in who became a rouge. He used d4s as caltrops, d12s for catapult, ect. He also had a paper sword which somehow magically turned into steel whenever he yelled the words I have the power of god and anime on my side. Super fun

Well no, you’re never gonna reach level 20 if you don’t at least use milestones, since the XP system is totally broken. I guess you could track down a tarasque and cheese it which is easy, but otherwise your campaign will take years to reach level 20. Just do a level 20 one shot, it’s super fun. Dnd beyond made a video on it recently
Here in my city they play every other thursday in a game store and everyone is welcome. It's only during summers and the last 18 months they have been canceled, but they just re-started last week.
I think everybody should play a level 20 one-shot at least once if they're already experienced in D&D. It's a lot of fun! ...as long as the DM doesn't think theyre going to be able to challenge you in any form of combat
“Dragonborn should have tails” Well they don’t have wings either the point is that they’re mutated dragon children, not half dragons, which do have tails btw.
my party tried using fire against some angry zombie ants. we ended up causing a massive forest fire and only saved it cause one of the druids contacted a water spirit
Personally, I like the d4 least not because it has the fewest sides, but because it doesn't actually roll, it just bounces or flops. As for leveling up, I like a hybrid XP + milestones system. That way you can get XP as normal, but when you reach a truly important milestone in the overall narrative or a specific character's storyline you give them bonus XP to help them level up faster. This also makes milestones more significant to the players, and the events associated with them more memorable.
A regularly meeting dnd group would be nice. The group I play with is supposed to play once a week, last time we played was August, fingers crossed that today's session won't be cancelled 2 hours beforehand.
2:27 the clear answer is infinite wealth. Among the other obvious benefits, you can share it with your friends so they can quit their jobs therefor ensuring work will never get in the way of DnD seasons. Now you're rich and can play more frequently than before.

Well I can argue that artificer is the best class as they can literally do anything. Like you need a healer, boom you got alchemist. You need a fighter with smites, boom battle smith. Actually, a one sided die can be good for percents. If it’s ambiguous, the dm can roll and decide if it is close enough. Like a sixty to ninety percent, have all the number up, or perhaps have lines around.
Do you make more characters then you’ll ever play? (Including concepts) - yes and I don’t know why?! - no i never plan more than one character ahead. - i’m doing it right now!
in my first campaign (with this group atleast, however the other two I had first were only like 3 sessions each so yeah) one of our members was a warforged paladin. his dice are really good at getting high rolls (or more average rather since they are metal) and when 3 of us were fighting a giant rat, me and the other guy dealt, in our dm's words, "less than half of its health" while our paladin dealt, again in our dm's words "over half of its health" me and the other guy had enchanted weapons, our paladin didn't and we were level 3 thats what happens when you minmax I guess our second campaign (which started a few weeks ago, in the same world, just about 60 years after) he said he wasnt going to minmax and then proceeded to have 28 passive perception at level 5

"The alignments I wrote on this one were sort of off" and the sun is sort of hot. Top to bottom the alignments are neutral good, true neutral, neutral evil, either chaotic neutral or chaotic evil, and that last one is actually fine.
The Human Fighter poll is unfairly weighted. I would have liked to see a Teifling Warlock on there, Half-Elf Ranger/Rogue, and a Dwarf Cleric. This coming from a guy notoriously known in friends circles for being the Human-Fighter player. I just tend to see the others way more.
That wasn't a vote, it was a quiz. It wasn't asking for opinions, it actually had a correct answer (based on what people have made on D&D Beyond, which may mean it isn't *actually* the correct answer).
"Dragonborn, a descendent of dragons"
And that, if I recall correctly, is the lore reason; Dragonborn aren't descended from dragons, they were made by dragons. Sort of in their image but with the idea of being good at manual labour, which obviously means being humanoid, in mind.

2. Immovable Rod
3. Decanter of Endless Water
3: endless bag of holding, just more wet
gimme that endless water supply
All 3 of which are surprisingly deadly in combat.
Depends. Are we playing Dark Sun or any other world?
Bag of holding.
If I need water i just go to the nearby lake or ocean and submerge the bag.

“Save the dying child after ensuring you will be rewarded” (Chaotic Good)
Very chaotic good indeed, srsly that’s neutral good at best
I wouldn't even say that's good. I'd put that in the chaotic neutral at best. If you want it bumped up to good, save the child first, then demand a reward. At least that way you're doing a good deed first, and not potentially committing manslaughter via dickish negligence
Watching a child burn because your wages weren't paid isn't neutral good. I would actually consider it rather evil
@@notoriousgoblin83 lawful means you care more about rules than people
Good means you care more about others than yourself
Lawful good means you want justice to triumph and chaotic good means you want people to be well

We all have a reason to pick slime. Dragon Quest for the old school gamers, Slime Rancher for the new school gamers, slimesekai for the anime watchers, etc. There's a slime for everybody!
That being said I think that dryads are pretty cool because literally being the manifestation of a tree's soul is freaking sick.
1:45 That second option DEFINITELY isn't good. At best, it's neutral.
He did mention that the alignments on that poll were skewed.
"If you don't have any friends," *sobbing* s-shut up... i-i have fr-friends!
@@amirabudubai2279 absolutely how I feel about it. I wanted to make an eldritch knight for a campaign but we start level 1 and idk how my knight all of a sudden decides to be big brain and do magic over a long rest
Poll idea: What are Dragonborn?
1. Evolutionary offshoot of Dragons
2. Created by dragons, for dragons
3. Breeding between dragon and humanoids
I make all of my characters chaotic neutral because they are unpredictable, in my current campaign the character I am playing is a motherly murder hobo

Yes finally a video I can watch in 2160p, its probably gonna take a week to load the first third of it. I sure hope its worth it.
I was literally just debating with myself what my favourite die was. I agree with the D12. For me, the shape just looks the coolest for some reason. Looks really great with the steampunk themed dice I recently got as well.
1:34 Anyone else feel it that one should have gone more like:
"1. Lawful/Neutral/Chaotic Good/just Good
2. Neutral Evil/Chaotic Neutral
3. Neutral Evil/Chaotic Evil, Neutral
4. same as in the poll
5. same as in the poll"?
If you play savage world with the d1, you'll probably win all the winnable, considering the fact that you can literally only make the dice explode

The monotone tone this was said in us perfect
Long bows have the heavy property and I love Kobolds, Gnomes, and Goblins.
I had a character who used your isekaid background as a dnd loving shut in who became a rouge. He used d4s as caltrops, d12s for catapult, ect. He also had a paper sword which somehow magically turned into steel whenever he yelled the words I have the power of god and anime on my side. Super fun
here's an idea for a poll:
you are a level 0 mosquito, your facing off against the bbeg dark lord of darkness and evil, all of your party members are dead...but there is a shimmer of hope because you rolled...A NAT 20 AND YOU HAVE WON, how would you like to end this amazing campaign
1. go home and be all sad and gloomy that your friends died
2. take the dark lords cloak but before you go to try and heal your friends you stop and think 'do i really need to heal them...i mean its not like i need them anymore because im a bloody spellcaster now (yes the mosquito British) i can do whatever i want...' and with that single thought your character has became the next bbeg
Not gonna lie, I love the background music.
5:20 to me chaotic evil doesn't want to rule the world thats more of a lawful evil thing
Dnd beyond made a video on it recently
i mean i won't let you break level 12 if we are using milestone but that's my dm style
Here in my city they play every other thursday in a game store and everyone is welcome. It's only during summers and the last 18 months they have been canceled, but they just re-started last week.
Do you even know that pain of stepping on a lego? The D4 is that times 100
My DM: *listens to the the pick a mimic poll* *sees all these small to medium sized mimics*
Her: *laughs in more than a 100 ft long ship mimic*
I think everybody should play a level 20 one-shot at least once if they're already experienced in D&D. It's a lot of fun! ...as long as the DM doesn't think theyre going to be able to challenge you in any form of combat

Well they don’t have wings either the point is that they’re mutated dragon children, not half dragons, which do have tails btw.
Don’t the Dragonborn subraces in explorers guide to wildemount have tails?
@@allerasthesphinx7184 The draconblood one does, but that's setting specific so whether or not it is allowed at the table is up to the DM
6:15 we hate the D4 because if you lose then find it with your foot it makes a Lego look like a pillow
my party tried using fire against some angry zombie ants. we ended up causing a massive forest fire and only saved it cause one of the druids contacted a water spirit
The group I play with is supposed to play once a week, last time we played was August, fingers crossed that today's session won't be cancelled 2 hours beforehand.
you are very entertaining with a soothing voice so I can see why people might follow for just that.

2:27 the clear answer is infinite wealth. Among the other obvious benefits, you can share it with your friends so they can quit their jobs therefor ensuring work will never get in the way of DnD seasons. Now you're rich and can play more frequently than before.

Dude. Using a hawk and snek would be awesome. You can have a horde of both, using the hawks to drop the sneks (like deploying them) into enemy ranks. That would be hilarious!
Well I can argue that artificer is the best class as they can literally do anything. Like you need a healer, boom you got alchemist. You need a fighter with smites, boom battle smith. You need a wizard, boom artilerist. And best thing is they can make magic items. Also who else is actually chaotic neutral in the sense that you do the best for yourself and others even if it goes against rules

And seeing 24% of people on the channel haven’t played is interesting
Actually, a one sided die can be good for percents. If it’s ambiguous, the dm can roll and decide if it is close enough. Like a sixty to ninety percent, have all the number up, or perhaps have lines around.
Do you make more characters then you’ll ever play? (Including concepts)
