  • Terra Pomaria hostes Duchess Caoimhe (Kevva) Inhen Domnaille (OL) for a fantastic class "Lessons from the Forests: natural dyeing with mushrooms, lichens and plants"
    Talk Summary:
This will be an overview of foraging and harvesting natural dyes from the forests of the Pacific Northwest using mushrooms, lichens, and plants. We will cover how to incorporate nature into your textile interests in the SCA, as well as my collaborations with Coast Salish weavers. This talk is for anyone looking to view the forests around us in a different light and for anyone who is wondering just what is out there after the rains come.
    Speaker summary:
Zoe McDonell/Duchess Caoimhe (“Kevva”), OL, is a textile artist focusing on natural dyeing using native species. Building on a foundation of dyeing through our historical recreation group the SCA, she teaches foraging, harvesting, and using natural dyeing to a wide variety of audiences. When not running around dressed like a Viking, she is a wildlife ecologist with a focus on assessing and managing endangered/at-risk species. She lives with her three children and partner in Vancouver, BC (aka Barony of Lions Gate).
