I honestly like the striping it makes it feel more vintage and handmade rather than factory knit. Super impressed that you salvaged the rips on panel two instead of just starting over. Would be interested in a video on that process.
I think the fact that you have three panels makes the stripes look like a deliberate feature. I'm sure plenty of 1940s 'make do & mend' knitters would have ended up with something similar, especially as knitting was often done in the evening. My grandmother told me of situations like this where the difference in dye-lots wasn't noticed until the garment was finished & worn during the day!
I like the stripes, it gives interest and is random enough to look unplanned. Can't wait to watch watch the next one. Also my dog loves to dig on chairs and beds to😅
I like the striping. It's the kind that if you didn't tell me it was unintentional, I'd have thought it was just part of the design. Also, Nutella is absolutely convinced that there's buried treasure in that chair cushion.
I quite like the striping of the yarn. I think it adds another visual dimension to the skirt. I love how it turned out, and it looks like it fits really well!
The striping really doesn't look bad because it is so random. I think it looks great! Also, I'm always interested to learn alternative names for well-known techniques, like "blind stitch" for what we would today call mattress stitch. Do you know what year that instruction booklet was published that calls it blind stitch?
When you mentioned the guest dog I thought, from the small gentle noises he was making, that he must be a small dog… then he appeared as an absolute giant on your shoulder! Also Nutella watching your knitting machine go back and forth is too funny.
I think that splitting the skirt into 3 panels made the striping look intentional! The fact that the stripping is even across the front, then changes for the sides and back, makes it look really good. The flare and swish of the dress is fantastic, and it looks so comfortable 💚
Hello! I'm loving this series, as I am also working on making some wearables with my knitting machine. I wanted to give some advice - at 15:47 you mention cannibalizing needles from your main bed to replace broken ones. I do this also, but I suggest stealing them from the ends of your *ribber* bed since you won't miss the end ones there so much. I also loved seeing your swing swatch as that's a technique I've never heard of
I really like the stripes they look like a design feature! Especially because you also have the vertical purled lines running across. It looks very good and seems to fit perfectly!🎉
I LOVE how the stripping looks. I remember my Mum finding a skirt similar to that in my Nonna's cupboard and it was also made on her knitting machine 😊
The stripes look really good! It looks like a deliberate choice, and it adds great texture to the fabric. That little flare at the bottom is perfection!
Thank you. I love that you also show the issues you have with the knitting machine… I learn a lot from this. I have an old one myself and sometimes I wonder if I wouldn’t be better of knitting by hand, but I might need to use it more 😅
Oh my goodness the diggy paws on the chair... XD I love it when they do that! Also, I think the skirt turned out beautifully! I really like the striping effect, particularly because it's so varied down the skirt rather than all the same, so it makes it such a unique piece!
I like the stripes. They look intentional. And OMG, to make a knit skirt out of other sweaters is sensation! Now I really want to see a capsule wardrobe made out of knit. (You know what I mean.)😊
Nutella is the sweetest dog on RUclips and now she has a visiting friend - cuteness overload!!!! I'm not only here for Nutella, I enjoy your knitting adventures too lol
This was a fun video. I hate ever making suggestions to makers cause I know y’all work hard and I don’t like stepping on toes but I think you’re looking at a screen on your camera instead of into the lens while filing and so it feels like your never making eye contact while watching the video. Hoping that was taken as it was meant with kindness and sincerity. Thanks for all your awesome content!!
I love that skirt. I like the effect from the striping and the silhouette is perfect. You can see the room for improvement and still love your finished object for what it is.
I like the striping effect. Sure, they're not even all the way around because of the panels, but they are a neat look, and it plays well with the 40s style, the era of "make do and mend". I call this skirt an absolute success, and can't wait to see what the other pieces will look like!
I actually love the striping, it gives it more dimension. Such a beautiful job!!! Such a pretty color as well. I'm not a knitter, but I just love watching your videos. I find them very cozy and relaxing. Nutella was so cute watching you go back and forth! Such a good puppy. ❤
One of the benefits I find with imperfect clothes that I have made, is that I am not so afraid of wearing it in my everyday life! It's already not perfect so if I snag or make a hole that needs mending, it fits right in with the rest.
You took me back more than 50 years. Back in the 1960's my mother had a knitting machine very similar to the one you have. It was a big, heavy, cast iron thing. It was on the floor once and I tripped over it and broke a rib. Mum paid for the machine by knitting for other people. I think I still have the book she used to keep her accounts. I love the skirt it kind of looks like tweed.
I love the striping - it adds a depth and richness It's lovely and will go beautifully with the vest. I think this pattern will look nicer with the vest cables.
Personally I love the skirt. Even the marbling is really beautiful. Be proud, you even fixed your problem areas so well. I would like to know how you handle working that machine. It looks really hard to me. I know hand knit is slow but wow. You do beautiful work. I enjoy your videos so much.
I love the striping!!! It reminds me of malachite, and honestly, if I didn't know better, I would think that it was deliberate! Definitely a feature, not a bug, in my eyes 😁
I like the string with the three panels. It gives it more interest. If it were only two, I would question it, but this looks very intentional and lovely.
I really like the skirt. I like the effect the yarn created. I’d love to knit a vintage skirt, don’t think I’d be able to manage over 400 stitches tho. Mind you right now I can’t knit at all due to two cracked bones in my hand so I’m going to enjoy your videos even more.
I have to be honest..... I looooooove the striping. I love it way more than i think the plain green would have looked! I mean of course the plain green would have been nice but the stripes are honestly just my jam. seriously 😍😍😍
I understand being disappointed that things don't look as planned, but I personally I think the subtle striping actually looks both cute and fancy, it gives complexity to the fabric. And the shaping looks great!
I really love the stripes! They’re so lovely and I love love love the skirt! It’s so cool watching you use this gorgeous vintage machine, but I could never have the patience for it. I’ll live vicariously through you while I hand knit 😜❤️ can’t wait to see the entire capsule wardrobe
I like the stripes I think it adds a depth to the knitted fabric, all one colour might have got boring to look at after awhile. Your skirt looks great! Congrats
Oh I just love the striping, it's so perfectly random that it looks deliberate!! You have the patience of a saint with that machine! Be proud of yourself ❤
I honestly like the striping it makes it feel more vintage and handmade rather than factory knit. Super impressed that you salvaged the rips on panel two instead of just starting over. Would be interested in a video on that process.
Agreed, I would love to see the process of salvaging machine knit issues
Most definitely!

The striping adds so much beautiful texture! I love it! 😍
I really like the stripes! It's like a hand dyed effect or something. Looks great! 😊
I like the striping. It's the kind that if you didn't tell me it was unintentional, I'd have thought it was just part of the design. Also, Nutella is absolutely convinced that there's buried treasure in that chair cushion.
I like the stripes! They make the skirt even more unique 😊
Super cute! I love the flair at the bottom. The stripe effect is subtle, doesn't detract at all from the overall design beauty
I quite like the striping of the yarn. I think it adds another visual dimension to the skirt. I love how it turned out, and it looks like it fits really well!
This is the best skirt i have ever seen!
The striping really doesn't look bad because it is so random. I think it looks great! Also, I'm always interested to learn alternative names for well-known techniques, like "blind stitch" for what we would today call mattress stitch. Oh wow! I love the way the skirt moves. It's so bouncy!
The stripes actualy look good.
I totally agree, the strips look good
13:00 just me sitting here watching the little yarn ball in the back dancing to the swing music. 😄
When you mentioned the guest dog I thought, from the small gentle noises he was making, that he must be a small dog… then he appeared as an absolute giant on your shoulder! Also Nutella watching your knitting machine go back and forth is too funny.
Your pup watching you move the machine back & forth was soooo cute 🥺
The stripes give the skirt so much caracter, such a happy mistake !
I love the striping effect, I especially like how organic it is. Your videos are so inspiring - Thank you!
I agree! Looks kinda like chromosome stripes, doesn't it?
I think that splitting the skirt into 3 panels made the striping look intentional! The fact that the stripping is even across the front, then changes for the sides and back, makes it look really good. The flare and swish of the dress is fantastic, and it looks so comfortable 💚

This is fantastic. I love the stripping, it gives the piece character and a handmade/custom feel. It looks great 👍
The stripes look really good! It looks like a deliberate choice, and it adds great texture to the fabric. That little flare at the bottom is perfection!
I love the stripes I think the randomness of them is truly lovely.
I like the stripes, it’s a design choice
Thank you. I love that you also show the issues you have with the knitting machine… I learn a lot from this.
I have an old one myself and sometimes I wonder if I wouldn’t be better of knitting by hand, but I might need to use it more 😅
I like the stripes, they are all different so it looks deliberate. Flare at the bottom is nice too👍well done you😊
I totally think the striping gives the skirt character!
I LOVE THAT SKIRT! It came out absolutely stunning 💜
Oh my goodness the diggy paws on the chair... XD I love it when they do that! Also, I think the skirt turned out beautifully! I really like the striping effect, particularly because it's so varied down the skirt rather than all the same, so it makes it such a unique piece!
The stripes look intentional, i like the effect.
i think the striping looks really unique and makes it pop in a way a solid color couldn't do
I love your dog watching ♥

I love the slightly mermaid-y shape of the skirt and the stripe effect and the colour match a sea vibe..
I like it the striping gives it character and interest. You did a great job on the skirt don’t sell yourself short 😊
Striping is lovely. Makes it look very modern!
I love the swish at the bottom! And the purl stitch “stripes” give it a unified look and minimizes the horizontal striping. Beautiful skirt!
I love the stripes, it gives more interest and feel it suits the 40s well being the make do and mend era.
Everyone loves the stripes! I think theyre perfect and will help distract the eye from any flaws that occur from being worn ❤
I like the variegated stripes a lot!! I think it gives the skirt more texture and interest. No one would know it wasn't on purpose ;)
I love that skirt. I like the effect from the striping and the silhouette is perfect. You can see the room for improvement and still love your finished object for what it is.

Hi from South Australia. You give me hope that I can learn my machine
I love your channel
I actually love the striping, it gives it more dimension. Such a beautiful job!!! Such a pretty color as well. I'm not a knitter, but I just love watching your videos. I find them very cozy and relaxing. Nutella was so cute watching you go back and forth! Such a good puppy. ❤

I love the stripes. They give a low key Missoni vibe to the skirt and vest.
That skirt is FANTASTIC! I don't have a machine so would have to do it by hand but wow...just wow!
I actually love the striping and with the stripes not matching up bc of the panels it looks even better
you may want to look into a plaiting yarn feeder/plate for your machine. it force one strand of the yarn to the back so it's consistent.
The fit and drape are fantastic! Very flattering.
The skirt is gorgeous! Great job! 👏
I like the striping. It looks cool.
I love the striping - it adds a depth and richness It's lovely and will go beautifully with the vest. I think this pattern will look nicer with the vest cables.
I LOVE the striping effect! What a beautiful skirt!
Love this skirt ! ❤don’t mind the stripes at all . 😊

I personally think the striping looks really nice.
I love the striping!!! It reminds me of malachite, and honestly, if I didn't know better, I would think that it was deliberate! Definitely a feature, not a bug, in my eyes 😁

I LOVE the striping! It looks very organic and intentional

Thank you little husky-friend for visiting! And Nutella of course, any video without Nutella screentime is upsetting.
The striping looks like it’s supposed to be there! Great job 😁
I think it looks fantastic. I think the way it catches the light is going to be very special!
I like the string with the three panels. It gives it more interest. If it were only two, I would question it, but this looks very intentional and lovely.
The striping looks like a design choice to me, I quite like it!
I like the stripes! They look intentional and add visual interest to the skirt.
I think it looks cute as heck. Yes, I would have liked to have seen the zigzag but, still, this one is wonderful. Well done.😊
I quite like the striping and the skirt fits you beautifully. It’s a lovely skirt!

I think the striping looks good. It gives it some visible texture.
The stripes are actually pretty cute!
The skit looks wonderful. Don't mind the Strips, they make it more interessting and unique.
I love the stripes! It’s very reminiscent of a Chanel tweed!
I like the skirt. The stripes look fine to me. And it looks great on you.
I am sure that after bathing the skirt it will be perfect - even the stripes!
The skirt looks amazing! The striping works 😊

I think it turned out well, I'd be thinking about making more if I were you.
Wow! I think it's beautiful! Especially since you made it on that contraption..from ye days of olde... 😘💞💝.
