And thats just the problem. Bob Castelli is the James Dolan of the MLB. He's a billionaire cheapskate notorious for underpaying his players because hes only interested in making money and not winning games. The Reds are a fantastic business investment (because of the low overhead), and they dont need to play well for Castelli to make money. That's why all the talent the Reds get eventually leave. Enjoy de la Cruz for now Cincinnati because the second he's finished with his current contract he'll be wearing Yankee pinstripes.
Jumped on the Reds bandwagon as soon as he debuted. This kid is absolutely insane. The speed, IQ, arm, fielding ability, power, contact are astonishing to witness. To top it all off he's having so much fun on the diamond. The MLB is going through a renaissance, I'm so excited for this second half.
Being a reds fan my whole life, (only 24) I didn’t get to see all of the amazing teams of the past. But man, watching this kid play is something special. He’s been in a bit of a slump, but my goodness is he unbelievable. This whole team is young and just full of energy and excitement. Bunch of dudes who just want to play baseball. Reminds me why it’s always been my favorite sport.
dodgers fan here. cruz is amazing. i have been watching the reds recaps just to see him play hes amazing. a player baseball has been needing for a little while now.
The Reds next Joey Votto… and he’s already got a batting average that hovers around .300, generational power, an arm of a starting pitcher, and track star type speed… Votto made his debut six days before his 25th birthday. *Elly is 21.*
Him and Votto are two totally different players. And Elle is way more physically gifted. Votto on his best day vs Elly on his.. I think you'd see a significant gap. He's not the Red's next Votto, that's kinda underestimating this kid. He is the Red's FIRST Elly De La Cruz
Never been a Reds fan. From the PNW so I was always a Griffey fan. When Griffey went to Cincy, I bought a Cincy hat. Watching Elly is the closest I have ever been to following the Reds since Griffey went there. He's just exciting to watch no matter what he is doing.

Big pimpin! No wonder Pete Rose is fired up. He is some sort of demigod. I heard a genetics lab had been acquiring hair samples from various top atheletes. Unknowingly, it was rumored, One was a success, a Rickey Henderson and Griffey jr.clone was created, before the lab was closed. Could this be? I could almost question a Jordan possible presence, only, if the hair factor wasn't such an obsticle. Amazing talent!
