I'm going to try to shed some light on this from my perspective, but I'm still not sure either. I also come from a very different angle than some. A) The pansy represents SHAWOLs. It is the flower that signifies the birth month of May. Taemin mentioned this during his NGDA Live saying this is why he wrote the song, "Pansy", for SHAWOLs. B) We have to keep in mind that Taemin is a devout Christian (Catholic). I am also a Christian (Protestant). This is why I say I come from a different angle than many. I see so many biblical connections throughout Taemin's music, some of which has been verified through Taemin's other lives and interviews. With that in mind, here is what I have seen so far: 1) The rooms are set as one building in separate parts -- Light and Dark. Within the Bible, darkness is not good. Along with seas and water, darkness creates chaos, the unknown, and is, therefore, bad or harbors evil. Light however dissipates darkness and is revealing. Nothing can hide in "the light." This is why from Genesis 1 onward, God/Jesus is always depicted as the "Light" and the "Light of the world". In addition, no one can look at God due to his "Shekinah Glory". God is the ultimate in banishing & revealing evil. As we are all sinful, (yes, even Christians), we would be consumed in God's shining glory. As Christians, we walk in the light of God due to Christ's sacrifice. 2) As I mentioned above, seas are also considered metaphors for chaos agents. Again, in Genesis 1, as God's spirit (Hebrew word for "wind") hovered over the waters, we see God start to bring order out of chaos. The entire theme of Genesis 1 is how God brings order to earth from chaos and establishes the functions of the world: time, climate, vegetation, human and animal life. How does this relate to what we see in the trailer? 1) Taemin in white is light - A Christian representative on Earth who loves Shawols and wants to protect them (Pansy). The veil he's wearing symbolizes the fact that he is a bride of Christ. (The "church" [believers] is called the bride of Christ in Scripture.) 2) Taemin in black is his sinful, alter-ego (we ALL have one of these) who represents all the negative, evil thoughts we can dream up = a chaos agent. This Taemin is jealous of Shawols, as they take the attention away from his desire to control light Taemin and tempt him into sin or convince Light Taemin through victim shaming he's already been compromised with sin ("Guilty") or tries to further shame him through social media as everyone does these days ("The Rizzness" MV ) 3) In the Bible, the number "8" represents a new beginning (Taemin's new journey with BPM), a new order. I believe many of the restrictions Taemin as been under with SM have now fallen away, essentially freeing him to do what he wants with his music. 4) The number 4 in the Bible symbolizes creation. On the fourth day, God created the sun, moon, and stars. He separated -- get this -- the light from the darkness. In both Trailers, the "one" unit was separated into light and dark representing: Day vs. night Order vs. chaos Good vs. bad Doing what you love with a clean heart vs. succumbing to the temptations of fame (again, order over chaos) The ever-present duality battling within each and every one of us. There are many different ways to look at these concepts. The only way we will ever know what's churning in Taemin's very philosophical mind is if he reveals it all to us. However, it's fun to speculate and see what everyone comes up with.
I'm not Christian but I've learnt a couple things that I think might be interesting. Firstly, looking at the beanie he's wearing in the trailer, there's a symbol on it that I think looks similar to a crown of thorns. This and the veil immediately had me think of NGDA act 2 again. I also found that in some parts of the world the pansy is the flower of trinity. Are the three Taemin's we see Mary, the holy spirit and Jesus? He's wearing a necklace with three crosses and the pansies on the set have all three colors representing the Father, the son and the holy spirit. I might be wrong but I think this is definitely part of the theme. At least, this is my theory.
Some of your interpretation is right. He is very mysterious and unpredictable person. We will just have to wait what he will show us soon.Loving everything about him so far❤😊
