I think the issue here (as a Munster supporter at least) is not the tour itself, in principle offering further good coaching to ppl like Ruadhán Quinn, George Hadden or Sean Edogbo is an excellent idea as they may not see much game time at senior level next year. But if it took ppl like Edwin Edogbo or Alex Kendellen who are key members of our 23 regularly when fit that is where frustration sets in. These are not fringe guys struggling to access game time that we are not fully seeing the value in. The coaching staff here are fully aware that fitness allowing Edwin will be a key member of a team that could grow to win the champions cup in the next 2-3 years same with Alex.

Not ideal with timing but realistically there’s more then one party here and scheduling would have to suit the opponents aswell. Hopefully it’s more focused on u20s and academy olayers

So it's a money thing vs an actual proper set of 'A' games which not only would be a better challenge for the players, it also would help with the wider development of the game if those games were vs Portugal, Georgia, Spain, etc.. And you are messing with potential URC finishing places which actually could cost the provinces money in the long run and ultimately the IRFU - a total nonsense !!!!

Agree these games should be played against the teams in the Rugby Europe Championship. It would be beneficial to all concerned. Alternatively they could enter an Emerging Ireland team into the Rugby Europe Championship, which takes place during the period when the Six Nations is taking place. It would not disturb the URC as they don't play during this period and in the event of an injury to a player in the Six Nations squad, an Emerging Ireland player will be battle hardened and could step up into the Six Nations squad.
