    I can always count on you to read the documentation, John. Thanks for mentioning the spinner function as well as how to modify the light pattern (something most other reviews miss). Now I'm going to preorder one of these thanks to the thoroughness of your review :)

      I really appreciate it, yeah I spent some time in the manual. Read it entirely at least once, re-read several sections more than a few times and also reviewed Glen's early manual before it went to print (without using the product). I do enjoy reading and creating documentation, I'm weird LOL. Thank you for your kind comments and I think you'll thoroughly enjoy this kit. There is much more that I haven't covered yet in detail, but plan to in the future. I mean, push-pull spinner, that's begging for Discs of Tron right? I was going to cover it here, but didn't want the video to become so long that no-one has the time for it. On average, most only watch 4:31 of this video which is not uncommon.

      You and your team did an amazing job with this kit, Glen! Thank you so much for sending it, I always LOVE your products!! You remember years ago when we used to talk about 3D printing? Now look how far you've come since then - Amazing! The products you and tsticks create make this hobby so much better and give us the options that weren't possible -and at an extremely reasonable price.

      @@WagnersTechTalk one thing Gamester did a poor job conveying and something your video lightly touched upon that I wanna ask. is this only a joystick? is Ikari Warriors in no way packed with the unit in any form? (if not then is the SNK branding just for show??) also any idea what collections or anything support this? im not a Mame guy but part of me would love in some way to play Midnight Resistance with this thing

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  Год назад +1

      I'm not sure if there will be anything included in the package for downloading SNK's collection. I do know there will be some slight changes between the package that I received and retail packages (i.e. my wires weren't labeled, but retail units will be). Along those same lines, not sure if an insert will be provided with a download code. However, at 06:25 I do show how you can download it for free (at least, at the time of writing this).

      @@WagnersTechTalk thats cool stuff, though strange to have SNK branding along with a specific game motief but not include the game in question as a gateway game to entice trying more (there isn't a ton of games out there that take advantage of rotary joysticks, but it would have helped it beyond a hobbyist project) still this is a neat product, but as someone who isn't very tech savey, I dont know theres enough confidence put into the products longevity to make it more then a fun but pricey addition to a digital collection thats free for the moment. It's nice that it can serve as a normal joystick for other programs and such, but I feel like some opportunities might have been missed to make this a more commercial product outside of joystick modders.

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  Год назад

      @@Gojiro7 You can pick it up for free, currently, if you have Amazon Prime. But yeah, it is a bummer it's not included with the package itself. I did just check with Glen, he confirmed no software included. I can definitely see using this the next time I build a custom cabinet. Might be a project soon now that the Pi5 has been released.

    Got this some months ago and I LOVE... the idea of using it. But it's still unassembled, waiting for the next free Saturday. I'm torn between using the box as the, um, box, but also getting a custom case like The Fighter from Haruman's Customs. I'm actually leaning towards the box since (1) it's already paid for, (2) it's already got the artwork, and (3) if I'm going to be using it as a spinner, I _don't_ want a heavy enclosure on my lap. Plus I figure I could still do the same things our friends in the FGC do to the box, i.e. Neutrik hole for detachable USB and adhesive foam feet to prevent slippage.

      I thought about installing it into an Arcade cabinet my son and I built several years ago, may still do it at some point when I have time. I really want to re-work the entire control panel and this stick would be ideal for it. Thank you for watching!

  • @QunMang
    @QunMang Год назад +3

    Nice. I was really hoping this could also be used as a spinner too when I noticed it in the product description, but MadLittlePixel's review made no mention of this. Despite this, I already placed my preorder. I'll try it in the box, but I also have an old HotRodSE controller that I may replace the player 2 side with this as I rarely have anyone else play on it (heck, I don't use it much lately and haven't even replaced the old PS/2 encoder with a USB one, just use an adapter every time a take the controller out).

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  Год назад +1

      Glen sent me a video that showed it working with Arkanoid and mentioned there would be a firmware update to allow using it as a spinner. That will open the doors for many more games that work with it.

He takes the time to make sure it's done right and at a price that is always lower than I personally think it should be priced at. Same here on the iiRcade deck, that one I've pre-ordered and can't wait to upgrade the machine.

    Excellent and professional review as always.
    I do have a couple of questions though
    1) what size is the joystick body, Happ?
    2) is there any way to make the joystick act as an analog stick (like a Brook Fighting Board does)?
    3) does the 12 total buttons include the dual mode button?

    I'd love to know how to support this controller in future games. If I understood correctly in this video, the rotational input seems to be mapped to mouse trackball movement on the x-axis together with a sensitivity variable.

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  Год назад

      Yes, you can also adjust this two different ways by pressing+holding the Mode button for POV Hat, Keystroke or mouse or the WAY button for 8,12 or 16 way. Free way will be in an upcoming update (free spinning), from what I understand.

    Hey man great video! I found your channel after watching all of your AtGames 4k videos. I have a question on these joysticks, I did email the company (thunderstick) but they said it wouldn't work. So I have 2 arcade machines that use the LS-30 joysticks, and one of them needs new sticks (Heavy Barrel). Do you know if the wires that come out operate as each switch without USB power? Like I can just connect each wire to the arcade harness, and they would register as inputs? I feel like it would work, but they wrote back and said these couldn't be used with out the interface / converter USB board. Thanks and if you don't know, no worries! Great channel, I am subbing!

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  Год назад +1

      Hey brother, thank you for checking out the vids and for your support - greatly appreciated! I don't have an original LS-30 stick here, so I'd definitely go by what thunderstick/GRS have mentioned. I wish I could say based on experience that it would/wouldn't work but I can't. I hope you find past/future content just as interesting, a lot coming. Also, be sure and check out the guides here: wagnerstechtalk.com/guides . A lot of how-to type stuff that cover a large number of tech/gaming topics with much more to come!
