In a parallel universe, Jim Carrey's career doesn't take off as well as it did here and he ended up making dozens of Ace Ventura movies, essentially filling the Ernest shaped void left by Jim Varney.
I've always said, if Jim had created the character in the early 80's, he'd have been right alongside Ernest, Elvira, Pee-Wee, Cheech & Chong, and Mr. Bean. Maybe in the early 90s we could've gotten a "80's comedic character Cinematic Universe".
I was a teenager in high school when both of the Ace Ventura movies came out, and like so many others, I just couldn’t get enough of Jim Carrey. I had previously thought he was the clear standout on In Living Color, but once Ace Ventura, The Mask, and Dumb & Dumber all came out in the same year in 1994 and Jim was really allowed to shine? Wow was it fun. Some part of why I enjoyed movies in the mid and late 90’s maybe more than any other time in my life was Carrey. It just felt great to laugh, and in such a new way. I can remember when When Nature Calls came out, my local theater chain in Michigan had a great promotion. You paid around $20 for a large plastic When Nature Calls popcorn bucket, and you could keep bringing back to movies the entire summer for 3-4 months for unlimited free refills! For a frequent moviegoer, it was THE most incredible deal for me, and u used it so many times. Wish theaters would do something like that today.
Yes, I was 7 when Ace Ventura: Pet Detective came out and my parents took me to see it… Jim Carrey became my idol ever since. I followed his career from them on. One of the best things about him is how versatile he actually is, he plays different characters in all of his movies
The Rhino scene is the most insane, the funniest, the craziest scene, the sickest scene in the history of comedies! It can not be described, it can not be explained, it is lunacy and brilliance! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙌🙌👏👈👈

The Monopoly guy is part of the Mandella Effect. The original Monopoly guy never had a monocle but movie scenes like this make people think they remember a monocle.
Why do you need to agitate? Are you the authority? No. They clearly filmed the scene giving the guy the monocle for a reason, nobody needs a nothing like you to tell them it’s one way or the other lol. YOU are the literal Mandela effect thinking you can state something with such authority making people further confused🙄
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is hilarious. I used to use my nephew as the Monopoly Man when he was little and he would giggle so much. He still loves that scene.
15:10 I was the same, and I think it is for that exact reason. I remember enjoying it but upon seeing the review scores years later I just assumed I was more easily impressed when I was younger. I’ll have to watch them both again.
High Strung - movie Jim Carey appeared in as “Death” uncredited. You have to watch it Minty! Steve Oedekerk gave Jim Carey one of his first breaks as a friend. It’s actually a great movie with Bif actor Tom Wilson and a classic scene with Fred Willard! Minty please please find High Strung and watch it!

Since Jim passionately loves the role of Robotnik. Plus, he loves that the character grows and evolves as each Sonic film progresses forward. Which is why, Jim would rather work on the Sonic Movie sequels. I’ll say that’s fair enough for him. But deep down inside, if there was a filmmaker and a decent script for Ace Ventura 3. I would love to see Jim Carrey return to Ace Ventura 3 as an opportunity for his character to get a true proper closure. Probably out of retirement in his Pet Detective career. And save wildlife animals from poachers, wildfires in their natural habitats, or any species going extinct. That’s my hypothetical pitch for an Ace Ventura 3: The Last Chapter.
Fantastic movie ! Jim Carrey brings a lot of great humor to the story as usual. This movie is very memorable. I definitely wish there really was a Lego set for it. Your final thoughts are always so silly!

I like the original, but When Nature Calls remains my favorite of the 2. So many quotable lines that my wife and I still use regularly.

I almost died from Rhino scene , I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt for 1-2 weeks afterwards!

I think the rhino scene is unparalleled in cinema history 🤣🤣
