This has to be perhaps the most honest, down to earth artist I've heard in a very long time, if i've ever even heard another one like Ron. No pompous arrogance from this talented artist. Very shy, and almost self-conscious about his artistry. He's a breath of fresh air, in an industry where all too often, musicians have a false sense of self importance.
It's nice to know there are such honest and down to earth people out there like Ron Sexsmith. Great singer and songwriter regardless of how much commercial success he's had.
refreshingly honest artist and one of the best that i give tremendous respect to. good luck for the future Ron , i have a feeling that you don,t have to try too hard . I and a heap of fans out there are with you all the way .
The most underrated singer song writer in years have most of his albums met him at a gig in cork Ireland years ago what a gentleman when you see the crap getting recognition these days sorry bout the pun please give this man a listen thank you
Oh and fully agree with @contempower. No need to feel bad for Ron. If we were all a little more honest with ourselves, we'd all admit that there are times when we are down in the dumps and don't feel good enough. His honesty about this is a sign of his greatness.
This songwriter/singer is such a great and amazing talent. The very best. And he's such a modest guy, as all the really talented are . He's not that good with interviews. So what. Sometimes I can't believe his lyrics and melodies. Some are perfect. Pure and simple perfect.
Ron's song writing ability on this album "Late Bloomer" has some of the best material he has ever written. 99% of the song writers today can't even come close to this man creative talents with melody and chord progressions. If you listen closely to these songs, you will hear wonderful new melodies and great singing from Ron. Modern music today has no melodies anymore and they can't appreciate excellent music when they hear it. Ron, please keep do what you do best - keep writing and recording. Just go out and buy this album. You will not be sorry.
Elvis Costello said that Ron Sexsmith's music will still be covered 50 years from now. You can't say that about 99.9 per cent of the junk that passes for popular music these days. He's like Gerard Manley Hopkins or Emily Dickinson. He's going to be one of the great names of music history many years from now.
1:54.Nonsense, Ron. Album #2, "Other Songs" is perfect. "So Young "is sublime- one of my all-time faves-ever! I love your sense of humor ,especially at 2:37 the reference to Walter Matthau with the halo popping up behind you!
Oh Ghomeshi. You acting like it's so quaint to talk in terms of an album instead of a random collection of songs on your unbelievably futuristic ipod. Oh tell us great seer what will this future be like that we're all not a part of? This sounds funny just 4 years later.

The man is dead honest...and a fantastic songwriter. No need to feel bad about that. Wish more songwriters were like him, in more ways than one!

So looking forward to seeing him play in March!
I love this album
Fabulous album filled with great songs from start to finish. Ron's best so far.

Ron is the epitome of a down to earth dude. Hoping to see him when he comes around my nowhere town in a couple months.
Love it.
Be yourself beautifull.

je ne comprend rien une personne peut m aider merci les amis musiciens
Ron looks so uncomfortable, like he'd rather be at the dentist than talking about himself.
That's just the way he is. Very shy and modest, but supremely and genuinely down to earth.
YES thats the exact reason we LOVE him
yes there are levels to everything, including fame and recognition. This next guy has neither yet plays on: soundcloud.com/paul-eliot-1
Sadly I'm not sure he knows what he really wants. I really he hope he finds satisfaction.
