    This helps a lot. I pulled mine out and found the pump had been replaced in the past but not plugged in! I also found the transfer filter blocked. Plugged in and tested the pump and renewed the fuel filter. I didn’t check the Venturi though and put it all back together. Seemed to work for a while but has stopped again. I’m going to have to pull it out again!

      Engine would stop running with the fuel gauge at 1/2 a tank. Toyota dealer changed senders and dashboard ($2,000), and still had the problem, took IT back and they said IT was the jet pump that was only getting half of the fuel out of the sub tank, after watching the video I went to another shop, they just cleaned all the fuel system and problem is gone ($80).

    how the heck did you remove the "large fuel line" at 0:36?
    Please help, i literally spent 20 minutes attempting to take it off and run out of daylight :(

      flat screwdriver in and gently open the clasps holding it secure whilst you pull at same time :)

      @@Richard-Tanya thanks for the reply. I got it off eventually. Seems like the last person butchered it and it overflared the clasps

    Hey lads, would this make the car hard to start.
    Mine will go through a full cycle of the auto start then will fire with another turn of the key

    • @ARTCNC
      @ARTCNC  2 месяца назад

      @@RobertMcKenna-p8n I don't think this particular problem affects starting. It just affects the transfer between the rear to the front tank.
      It sounds like you may have a fuel pressure problem which is controlled by a completely different system. There's a different high pressure pump that supplies fuel from the front tank to the injection system.

    My Prado has an issue, and I am wondering if this is the reason.
    When I start my Prado (KDJ120 - 03/2006), the engine turns over and start, but immediately shuts off again. Batteries, keys & immobilizer are checked and works just fine.
    I pulled off the fuel supply line on the fuel filter in the engine compartment - turned over the engine - and none fuel came out.
    I still have to check the fuel supply pump. If its working - could this be the reason for the issue I am experiencing?

      Hi Andre, it’s my vehicle in the video and one of the symptoms is that it appears to be out of fuel even when the fuel gauge shows there should be fuel in the tank. So if your fuel gauge says you have fuel and you can’t start it try putting fuel in with a Jerry can. It will be slow to go in (up to 10mins to get 25lts into the tank) and prime the fuel lines with the primer on the fuel filter until it’s firm and try again. If it starts and runs I would say you are having the same issue I was. You will be able to drive until that fuel from the Jerry can runs out. Good luck

      Shem Tewkesbury Thanks! I ended up with a total disasembly of the fuel Line. I didn’t find any jet nozzle though - But i clean out the whole Fuel Line, and now it runs smooth again. Thanks for the video Shem!

    I have a 2012 Prado 150 series with a sub-fuel tank and have just had the fuel transfer pump replaced. However the fuel light is now flashing ( the fuel light NOT the one with the 2 lines of dots underneath) when I get down to about 700 km to go - fuel gauge approx at middle.. I presume this is when the tank changeover occurs? I topped up the fuel and the light went off, but it came on again when the fuel went down to approx the same level as before. I thought the ECU may need resetting and did this but no change. I have also checked the relevant fuses.
    Any solutions / ideas????

      hi @Ian Cook did you have any solutions to this problem? My 2012 Prado 150 has been doing the same for a while. Now however, i can't seem to fill the tank much over half as the fuel filler clicks off as if the tank is full.

    Hi Shem Tewkesbury, my prado150 1kd 2012 flashes the fuel light on/off despite fuel gauge at middle. When I fill up, the flashing fuel light stops flashing...Do u think venturi or secondary fuel filter?

    Mine is a 2003 first month of the 120 series I don’t have the internal pump as shown in the video think mine uses main pump I had no blockage in Venturi still NFG note my model does not have a transfer filter

    I have a Prado 120 and the car stopped today seemingly due to fuel starvation. I had about 100 liters fuel, so 90 liter in one tank, about 10 liters in the rear tank. After waiting for the fuel pump and car to cool down, I was able to start again. Do you think the culprit is probably the venturi? I suspected that the fuel pump itself is the issue.

  • @meganjamieson8766
    @meganjamieson8766 5 лет назад +2

    Its called a jet pump. It uses a hi pressure, low volume flow through a venturi to create a high volume, low pressure pump. Simple but effective, at least until you get junk in the venturi.

    would it be ... a good idea or a bad idea to widen that hole with a 4mm drill bit ... to stop more particles clogging?
    obviously we want to stop the particles but it needs to be stopped at the Fuel Filter thats its job haha

    • @boonjabby

      don't enlarge the hole. it was created like that to ensure the venturi effect works. if you make the hole bigger, the vacuum action will reduce

    • @justuswalker-lovell2492
      @justuswalker-lovell2492 2 года назад

      Probably needs the backpressure to create the right amount of vacuum
