Electro-Harmonix Lizard Queen BASS DEMO

- The EHX / JHS Lizard Queen Octave Fuzz takes lordship over my bass.
Originally designed by Josh Scott of JHS Pedals and graphic designer, Daniel Danger as a homage to Electro-Harmonix in what Josh and Daniel consider the company’s design heyday of the 1970s, the EHX Lizard Queen Octave Fuzz is a nano-sized version of the pedal brought to life by the engineers at Electro-Harmonix that has all of the tones and vibes of the original circuit design by Josh. The tone is inspired by EHX’s fuzz pedigree with a unique analog octave up circuit that has all the vibe of the original design first featured on the JHS Show in 2022. This creates a completely new and unique EHX fuzz sound we’ve never heard before. To further tell the tale, the pedal is adorned with vintage EHX-inspired graphics designed by Daniel.

Dude Fire 🔥 playing
This will probably be the best bass demo of the Lizard Queen until the end of times.
Hear ye, hear ye..!
Yeah this demo is insane. I don’t play bass, but now I wanna.
Totally agree. Phenomenal.
Probably. Probably best selling it to bass players too 😂
Agree 💯
I come to these videos for the cool pedal demos and stay for the absolutely insane bass licks.
Thanks, JC!
That pick shuffle at 2:40! 🤯
Yeah video editing lol just joking. WOW
Let’s be honest Nate would make anything sound good
Nates ability to use a pick then slap and pluck while still holding the pick is certainly impressive... oh and nice pedal.
Wait, there was a pedal?
😎
straight ninja sh^t
Your bass playing blows my mind laterally
Literally laterally?
@@funkingitup1805 figuratively flatlined
longitudinally leveled
The harmonic interval part of the demo was both helpful and fascinating!
Yeah i liked that part a lot too. Amazing skills
I don’t even know why I clicked this video but I’m glad I did because you have some sick ass bass lines. So much groove
How does this guy go from Mr Rogers with a bass on a couch to that sickness. Prolly the nastiest bass demo I’ve even freakin heard. Holy crap.
That's some stellar riff-smithing!
ok these intros are seriously the most underrated bass music on this website.
Best demo of the lizard queen by far.
Your playing is always off the wall god tier. Hats off to you, sir 🙏
This guys is as crazy as this pedal !
Thanks for using an affordable bass too (Harley Benton Enhanced MJ-4). I have the MP-4 (P & M pickups) “Shamberg” which is a beast too.
fuckin hell. . . Came for the pedal. Stayed to hear you play... You are a wizard man
love all the tones, wow,
This was/is a blast of an presentation.
Fantastic playin and showin a big variaty on sound examples.
This master has even more amazing licks then hair styles! What a legend.
I'd buy this pedal JUST FOR THIS VIDEO
Yeah, this pedal is interesting but let's get real for second: you are an ASTOUNDING talent!
Maybe the most original, technical and clean yet full of power and bite, bassist I have seen in years.
Truly a one-of-a-kind original.
You've obviously put in the work but don't let that effort take away from the obvious massive talent you have running through your body.
I mean, what the actual fuck, you are insanely good.
Sounds freakin' wicked!
Nate could literally make any pedal sound good.
So gnarly. I wish it came with a blend stock, that is my only qualm.
Buy a splitter pedal you will never have to worry about lack of low end ever again
It would be a dream when Josh the pedalpope could always bring out a bassversion from a new pedal. Yes you can work with lineselectors or extra EQ Pedals but there is not so much place on every board. Great Review.
Good god, that intro. What a player!
impressive playing
Just when I thought I was getting good on bass, this dude comes along- I have a few basses for sell guys.
First pedal I've had an interest in, in a long time. Thanks Nate, (the boss)!
Be careful. Test one if you can. You could hand Nate the shittiest pedal imaginable and he could make it sound good. Nate also mentions utilizing the Switchblade Pro. Without low passing the low end past the fuzz, it would probably have severely destroyed the bottom end and sounded wimpy. Also look at the DSM and Humboldt Bass Simplifier for a way to split signal.
OMG, what an amazing demo, amazing playing!
Been waiting on a decent Bass review of this pedal. Thanks for this video. Sounds killer.
K yes that is effing awesome but to be fair Nate could make a bike pedal sound good on bass
Ha ha! Good point
😂😂 💯
Came here for the tone, left feeling like I need to practice.
I'm buying one immediately purely on the basis of this demo & I NEVER fall Victim to advertising....
This was an excellent bass/pedal demo!! One of best. Well done!!
This dude never fukn fails to deliver.
Dude. Incredible playing! So sick, brutal and groove riddled. Loved every second of it
That's one sick pedal, I love it!
Every paint brush is cool, unique and useful in its own way. But what the painter does is the true art.
All this time I've been thinking this was a guitar pedal, how wrong I was. I thought the LQ was good but this demo has blown my tiny mind!
Oh baby!
❤ great demo and you play sooooo great. fantastic 😊
best bass demo ever
🦎👑
You: introducing the pedal.
Me: shocked by your playing skills.
My speakers: melting.
Excellent work as always. Just an idea for a future video. Would be cool to see how you create the backing tracks to your videos.
Thanks for the great content!
Wish I could get some of these demos as actual full instrumentals..
I didn’t know you were allowed to play the bass like this
Dang that was a spicy intro
That is a KILLER RIFF!!!
Holy Shit! Daddy wants! That's the best pedal demo I have ever seen.
I clicked on a pedal demo and got B-slapped by Nate's strong pimp hand. The riffs are so heavy, dynamic, creative - 💯 artist.
Awesome playing and demo man 🤘
I had the original big box years ago and have been waiting for this for reissue decades. Mike Matthews got it right back in the day with this one and thanks to Josh for taking this on. Thanks for doing this Nate. Bass players should not sleep on this one.
I think this is actually an original design by JHS, not a vintage pedal
@@TheSPY1997 true!
Yeah no, this is original.
You may have had something else.
@@TheSPY1997 it's a recreation JHS did based on the original big box. Until now you couldn't find these.
lol this didn't exist until josh scott made it with daniel danger like a year ago. maybe you had a big box big muff?
Grate man !!!!
This guy is something else!
Damn Nate! You make me have to practice! Damn! You just keep getting better! I'll never catch up😢
Thanks, Ken! Enjoy the ride, man. "The journey. is usually the part that you remember anyways." - Miley C
Note to self: If I ever design a pedal have Nate do the demo
Jesus this thing sounds sick
Is that a Harley Benton? I think it is! Wow what great way to showcase how good these basses are for the money!
I have no use for this pedal but I’m getting one anyway.. my country band is going to be pissed!!
It will be for sure, bro😂
Sick licks as usual! 🤘
Originally I wondered about lizard queen. But now I'm playing the bass not guitar. Your Bass playing is so awsome!
Awesome sound!!!!
Great demo and playing.
That is also a very interesting take on a J-bass. Love to know more about it.
To me it looks like a heavely modifiyed Harley Benton JB-75MN. I own one and a headstock on his bass is the same as on mine. But in one part of the video I can see he made it string thrugh, rerouted the bridge pickup cavoity to fit that humbucker. Rerouted the back to fit the active electronics. Also he put on a high mass bridge on it. The lower horn is also made pointier. I'm sure there are other modifications. I could not catch what says on the headstock but it looks like Harley Benton. If it say so then it is a HB only by name.
@@SD0409 nope - this a standard Shumberg - Harley Benton Enhanced MJ-4MN Natural
I need to meet this man.
"Thank you for watching my demo of the Lizard King..." Lizard ? what Lizard :) ? Thank *you* for 10 mins of music by one of today's best bass players - this man could be playing a broomstick with fishing strings and it'd still sound good...
The clank is strong in this one. This will cut through a heavy band. I need one
Came for the demo; now I'm subbed and thinking about quitting bass because I'm not this good.....yet
Give me your bass, your hoodie, your mic, you amp and that lizard thingy😎
You might like the Damnation Audio Dirt Fixer, Nate!
Great stuff
Holy I got get this
Nice Nate!
I can get close to some of these sounds with my BF-3, but damn this is nutz. Gimme!
Bad ass!!!
Plucking bell!!!!!!
Ordered 🤘😋
That was the sh t.Great licks and tone. That pedal reminds me of a electro harmonic frequency analyzer with a fuzz , but with more control! You give great bass face.Nasty.
You are a BEAST!
This whole demo is like Primus, Death from Above & The Dead Weather had a child
I really wish there was just a straight LQ section of this demo.
JUICY AF !
It would be nice if they made a bass specific version. I’d be all over it!!! Not buy 2 pedals just to make one pedal work
he had to use two pedals to work? i didn't get it
@@Victor-cm5ve He had to use the EHX switchblade to allow him to split the signal and then blend a clean signal with the sound from the pedal. Without doing this it wouldn't retain the low end
Is that a Harley Benton bass????
I was actually looking into getting that exact model but wasn't sure how it will sound. Guess I know it sound pretty damn good.
Lobster did not like it though
@@RWieladek great guy but I'm not huge on his tone
Ok, so 1. That pedal sounds amazing. I need to add it to my list.
2. Question for Nate. When you practice you’re supposed to work on something you’re not good at to get better. If everything you do in practice is easy you’re not going to improve. So my question is, when you get that good at bass what kind of practice and exercises do you do to keep getting better?
Could you EQ to get the low end back, or is the switch blade necessary to get that sound? I like this clarity but you get the fuzz. Usually I find most fuzz on bass loosing clarity.
John Entwhistle would have loved it
I left a really nice comment, where's it gone? Strange!
I dig that you're playing a Harley Benton bass.
Okay, now you're just showing off... 0:15
Dude you might have just sold this thing for me
Damn i want one now and i dont even play the bass. Time to learn 🤣😂
and all played on a sub £300 harley benton!!!
That's awesome man. Do you know if this kind of pedal is how Daft Punk got that zooming in and out bass sound in the last part of The Prime Time of Your Life?
Whoooww, i´m actually planing a new padelboard for my setup. I´ll never used a fuzz or octaver in our bandsound, but this Padel sounds amazing in this Video.
Great pedal, i think ist a grreat outboard tool in the studio.
I think i´ll take a clother lokk at this pice of gear 😆
Highly recommend getting a separate octave and fuzz pedal. There are some good OC-2 Chinese clones for around $60 and the Behringer SF300 drops to as low as $14.
Mind this comes here with switchblade pro, plus youtube equilizer does its own job. Not mentioning the wizard player ;). In reality it just utterly castrates the lows even with no octaver employed (bear in mind this is with an octave up, not down!!!). Keeping though the pedal for the story behind and interesting tone options when blended with other stomps (switch blade!!!)
Ok. Royal Trux in a box. Ya could work
bass collection video pls
I hope to start hammering through it next week. :D
