i love when jake explained the bit to me. felt like director's commentary
It helps make it funnier
Top Tier Breaking the 4th Wall right there
Jake? Surely you mean Man Carrying Thing
the coughing made it that much more believable
This is first time I hear of Man's name being Jake
Him being behind the chair really convinced me he was in a dystopian world. This is a reference to the fact that Emperor Bezos would not allow his citizens to sit down in order to maximize their productivity and therefore the people of the future might not know what chairs are.
Im wheezing
“To rest is to rust.”
Dude, that's not a chair. It's a podium.
I think I saw a plastic bottle full of urine in the directors cut too. This is what it's all about people: _maximising productivity_ . Who needs happiness when you can slave to make a billionaire richer?
It's also a reference to the metaverse where nobody can't sit because legs don't exist
I love how he changed aspect ratio halfway through,
truly an expert in film…
That's how we knew the big action scene was coming
@@EmeraldLavigne Hopefully he doesn’t look at the explosions. That’s what all the cool action heroes do
@@EmeraldLavigne how else would I know when to pay attention?
I like how the end of the video implies that Netflix will become only 4th wall breaks and RUclips style talking to the camera videos, really says a lot about our society
So deep.
No one will understand jokes or satire anymore, it has to be explained
We live in a society.
She-Hulk***
Literally 1498
In the dystopian future you will need one account for sound and the other for visuals
Don’t give them any ideas
😂😂😂😂
And a third for subtitles.
lmao
Don't forget one for peak times and one for others
Netflix begging me to watch big mouth after deleting one of 3 shows I actually watched.
i dont know anyone who has watched big mouth
@@ManCarryingThing I tried but it was so shit I couldn't finish season 1
@@hiddensquid7048 wrong opinion but cool man I still respect you
@@billyalarie929 the hottest new tool for social debate
@@billyalarie929 Nope wrong opinion about someone's wrong opinion and i don't respect you lol
Ah yes, the new man carrying thing thing were he breaks the 4th wall to explain his skit at the end just to be cut off. Soon to be a classic
We’ll never know what happens…
It's so overdone, i think Man Carrying Thing should make a skit about it
@@Wighen18 quite funny
One of the best 4th wall breaks ever??
where?
Oh hey, it's JJJacksfilms. Well, close enough.
Jack, this is a channel for cultured men, what are you doing here?
Why is you pfp still be funny now that game sucked
Jagsfilms was was bvckbroken by youtube and ssstraponwolf... now he is just a shell of a man...
I'm glad the Man carrying the Thing explained the skit to me because I'm watching this in the future and have no idea what a Netflix is. Thanks, Emperor Bezos.
Man really carried the skit for me here.
And you time travelled back to comment this in 2022 to seem less suspicious
Do you have to end all of your comments with "Thanks, Emperor Bezos" in the future?
Man Carrying Thing then: Look cool books
vs
Man Carrying Thing now: Im going to desguise insightful commentary as a comedy sketch
"insightful"
“Disguise”
"Man Carrying Thing"
“Sketch”
"books"
Netflix really fell into chaos when they removed Nacho Libre
I forgot that movie existed so really, did that have that big of an effect after all? 🤷♂️
@@billyalarie929 yes
They. Removed. Nacho Libre???????
hate that Netflix cancelled the second season of Man Carrying Thing, I was really hooked in the first season when the Man Carried the Thing, now I'll never know where he is Carrying it to :(
There’s a prequel show coming out about where he picked the Thing up from. Different cast though
@@richardbourton4523 I heard it's going to be released on Disney double plus good
I'M CRYING I THOUGHT THAT WAS AN ACTUAL SHOW FOR A SECOND-
I heard he was carrying it to the place
@@o_p0tterhead dude, spoilers!!
There are more videos about Netflix on your channel than there are good shows on Netflix
There are more vidoes on his channel about netflix than there are netflix shows about him
To be fair that’s a low bar.
@@looy._. that's a lie i have watched like 10 MCT shows
Have you watched The Sandman yet? I think it's one of the best shows to come out on Netflix.
“Quantity IS a quality.” - The Red Army of 1944 & also Netflix.
Loved the subtle meta commentary! Great stuff really had to think
The third act was a bit ambiguous for me
I appreciated the Nolan-smooth exposition character.
The throat clearing at the end was impeccable.
That chair is a great actor.
The three coughs declining in depth are a great metaphor for Netflix's decline, incredibly succinct commentary
I thought the three coughs were a metaphor for the outside air no longer being breathable.
But this makes a lot more sense!
Writing experts: "show don't tell"
Man Carrying thingies: "show for 40 seconds tell for about 40 more seconds"
how do you make 2min videos feel like 2hrs - what a talent
this is a brilliant commentary on netflix then vs now
You know the acting is amazing when they are able to tell a whole story and really get a point across without really having to use a lot of words.
You really got me when the future suddenly turned into a commentary on how Netflix is the least of our problems. Loved it.
Thank you, Man Explaining Thing, for explaining the premise of the final section of this sketch! I would be so lost without it!
I got hit by a buffer just as the dystopian plot started happening and I honestly thought it was part of the video. I laughed a lot.
I appreciate the subtext of this skit, most people miss it though
I really appreciate the explanation of this skit that took up half the run time of said skit it really helped me to understand the skit so thank you for that
That whole pause to explain the skit ending is the best part of the whole video, that's where the comedy gold is, it's just so unexpected, such a MAJOR clash in tone you can't help but laugh, intentionally awkward while pretending it's not trying to be ("I know this is a weird way to end the skit") and yet it allows him to go deeper than he could've been without it. It also makes it seem like it's crucial for us to understand exactly what he's saying and that there were absolutely no other way to express this. He makes a valid point and it allows him to speak his thoughts clearly, etc. And then his explanation goes for too long compared to what it needed until it's ridiculous, and he cuts right when he's about to reach the point of no return of his hour-long rant.
these insight videos are getting and more concise. soon it'll be only 30 minutes of single take footage!
You're seriously one of the most consistently funny sketch creators on YT. I can't believe how you're able to crank out these hits daily. Top notch stuff, man.
i love the awkward explanation in the second half
Wow, emperor Bezos has finally figured out the key to eternal life!
This sketch is like if the DVD extras menu was included in the main story and was also longer than it with more plot and character development. I love it! I would never understand this sketch without the exposition
I love the subtle subtext in the future segment.
A masterclass in seamless exposition dumping
Improvised school presentaion vibes at the end there, had me laughin
I wish more skits ended like this. Except the explanation went on longer
Another great skit brought bt M. C. Thing. I gotta say, when Netflix appeared and told 'It's Netflixin' time' before limiting access to my account and cancelling a show I was really into brought me to tears.
Physical media - accept no substitutions.
I love how he unappollogetically explains the joke.
Great job Man Carrying Thing you really showed those "netflix users" who's boss.
This really helped me to imagine a world in which netflix
This skit is a work of art
You've really embraced a long-form art style in this video. Truly, an epic of shorts. Man carrying multiple things, perhaps?
I love how sometimes you do a 5 second clip that will convey a whole story arc seamlessly and just assume your audience will pick up the subtle hints of your joke. Then other times you just go full send in the other direction and spend most of your video explaining it step by step. Every time you do that it catches me off guard and makes me laugh. Good stuff.
Jake explaining bits is my favorite bit
the 4th wall break is fantastic
Netflix in 1348:
"Boy I sure do hope I don't get the plague today"
You really did carry that thing
I talk like this when I’m presenting things at work sometimes 😓
Thanks for the skit explanation, without glasses you look like a young version of Bale
As much as I love you explaining your intentions as part of the joke, be careful not to do it too much.
Nah I like that part
ah but you are forgettting the crucial detail that it is fun to do
RUclips served me a Netflix ad before this vid
It was really nice of the other you to stand there patiently, off screen, during the end
For the last part explaining the "dice-topian" portion, I hear Eugene Levy's inflection and rhythm. Well done.
When there's a skit in the middle of a skit: siiiiigh (speeds up x2)
the periodic clearing of the throat during the commentary bit was *Chef Kiss*
Sharing Netflix passwords is a time-honored tradition that I hope truly never dies. Hopefully Emperor Palpa-Bezos won't ban it.
*Bezos-tine
I think when Netflix came out with Cuties and everyone decided to defend it is when we entered the dystopia.
This was a very succinct way to wrap up the skit.
Searching Star Wa...
You mean Star Wars?
Doesn't have Star Wars
Behind the chair: best dystopian future hiding place
The good old days when we could all self teach the history and artform of cinema for only $4.99 a month. I look back at that time now as like a digital library for all. Man, what great times.
This sketch really puts the B in subtle. Good job, Man.
Ok but unironically I really wish some media had that level of explanation by the person who created it, some of it really needs it
The whole ending made it so much better hahaha
I like how I am being lectured on what the sketche's end is about... Realistically I kind of needed it at that point.
You know, I was definitely on the fence about this one, it went a bit over my head. But the ending really helped clear things up, though I'm still a little muddy on character motivations
Truly one of the most Netflix of all time.
how is he both so reliable but still so surprising hahahahah that end was great
Omg this is the best one!! It went from light chuckle to full on LMAO!
*Usually it's not funny when someone explains a joke*
*Xcept when Man carrying things does it..😂😂*
Thanks for explaining the bit at the end. If you hadn't turned directly to the camera, I would have been lost and confused.
The exposition dump was well worth the wait!
I feel like breaking character to explain a bit is gonna come back into fashion
"Don't ask what the Man is Carrying. He carries Himself."
See the point of that last minute of rambling was because if he stopped talking and allowed the camera to go back to the reverse shot once The Probe started scanning the room for dissidents, he'd have had to pay for the cgi to depict it on screen
thank you for the explanation. i was really confused.
the bit, that was the longest 40 seconds of my life
From the future here: netflix is 25 bucks and you can't share your password with anyone or it locks you out.
Take a shot every time he clears his throat
Everyone talking about content and I just want to highlight the strong nebbish Woody Allen vibes at the end there.
Thanks for the explanation, I have no media literacy skills and cannot comprehend anything I watch unless the commentary is spoon fed to me.
I hope they announce season 2 of this skit
Now for the next phase where it gets meta about the explainy end-of-skit fourth wall break twist and we descend ever deeper into meta-humour.
1:38? What, do you think I'm made of time?! I've got Netflix shows to endlessly browse!
I absolutely loved the ending 😂
We certainly do love in a society, it really makes you Netflix.
You are too good at this. lmao
Did he just say ‘die-stopian’?
This made me cancel my Netflix subscription 👍🏾 thanks Man Carrying Thing
Short, sweet, and to the point. Like a Ken Burns documentary
I like the subtle explanation at the end
@undefined thank you!
Im glad he cleared that up in the end
"A 4th wall break inside a 4th wall break... That's like 16 walls."
That was such a *cough* funny meta-commentary *cough* about how this silly thing wouldn't matter *cough* if conditions were worse for people *cough* I think that
I want the dystopian future segments to become a real series
I liked the video! I sort of didn't understand the last joke though; I wish you would have explained it better.
Writers: Show, don't tell.
Jake: No.
Things we have learnt from this video
- he pronounces dystopian as die-stopian not dis-topian
The coughs really tie it all together
Cant wait to buy a box of '99% clean air' from Amazon in the future
We know it's coming
