Hi there my name is Jackalina & I’m actually a qualified jeweller but I haven’t been able to sit at my bench for 10 years due to illness. I’m just setting up again since I am better now to everyone’s amazement (just too stubborn to die) but I truly love Lighting Ridge Opal & I would love to have 1 for myself as soon as I can afford to buy 1 & make it into a ring when I get my confidence back properly- I need to just sit & play with some silver for a while 1st I think. You have some truly beautiful gems there they almost make my heart rate go up (not desirable atm so they tell me 😂) but anyway I am longing for the day when I can spend that much $ on myself. You work is extraordinary & so your stock is top notch. (I’m in Adelaide)😎♥️✌️
I wish you to be recovered and be energized with the strength, desire and motivation that can well up within oneself when you resume your creative work. Blessings to you for happiness and success.
Looking at these opals in your collection and hearing the stories behind them elevates my heart and soul to joy with amazing ancient geology of how they are formed, the locations where they came from and the cutting stories. Thank you everyone at Black Opal Direct including Dad.
Maestro: superb collection!! Makes me want to sing!! Boom shacka lacka lacka " " " " Hey hey hey hey Justin makes the opals smooth, Opals make such music too, Justin makes the opals groove, He want ta, he want ta, he want ta take you higher, He's gonna light your fire!! Baby baby baby, take us higher, Justin lights our fire!!! Boom shacka lacka lacka, Boom boom boom boom! SLY & Family Stone. He'll take you higher, He'll light your fire
The shell opals turned out amazing!! I've never seen opal like it, and I'm a massive opal lover. But I do agree, chaff and flagstone pattern together is the best. I wish I could go to the gem show at Lightning Ridge, but I'm going to be at Port Macquarie visiting family. Honestly, I'd rather be visiting opals - they don't whinge and complain constantly! 🤣🤣 Have fun at the show guys! 😘🇭🇲
Of course those black opals are beautiful but i love crystal opals the most and i cant help it, i'm just in love with them ❤! Thank you Justin for showing your collection of opals for us and it was nice to meet you Haley too! Greetings to you all at BOD 👋🥰🤗💎👍
I was thinking why i am not seeing the Ultimate gem in the Collection and at last i see that. That one is awesome and my faveroit of all. Plz dont loose it to cutting it. Just shave it to perfect tear drop thats all. Its your gem But i feel that I share a piece of it through your Videos. I Really love that Gem. Plz if you Dont mind I Suggest to put a Pet name on that Ultimate Gem. It deserve a Special Name
I would leave the teardrop as is! It makes a beautiful pendant without cutting more of the stone off. Leave well enough alone as the saying goes. It is perfection already.....stunning beauty to show off so many colour surprises. Thanks for the teachings.
I love it every time you bring your collection out to play. I think the recent black with the undulating top you cut is a stunner. I'd buy it if I had the money. It's one of those nebula-trapped-in-a-stone types adore. I don't know how I feel about you re-cutting the stone from under your Dad's shed. I know once it's done it will look great, but as soon as you mentioned it my brain was all 'No, stop that thought, right now!'. It's your stone, you're the man in the know, but I'm still kinda mentally slapping your hands away from it. I promise to sit on my hands whilst you're cutting it 🤣
Crazy can’t wait for the recut I know I would be shaking with over half a mil in my hands I’ll be sweating with ya Justin it’s so unique of a piece as it was as freeform gem cos it has a few different crazy patterns but Can’t wait to see you make it more symmetrical with a few tweaks as you did with the dark cushion recently 🌈🔥💪👊👍
Hello justin. I am your subscriber for years. Resently i cam across a gem trader who Showed me a lot of black oplas. gems were good and Sparkely but when i learned about price i knew that these are not real black opals because the price was 5 dollar ,ten dollar a piece or somthing near that. So now i feeling to Need to Ask you for a tutorial how to Recognise fake and Real black opals and how to Guess the price its worth. Plz make a new video for us That help us to not be fool by local traders. Love you
Hi y'all! From murphy, nprth carolina. Spectatular stones in your collection and show was a lot of fun. Your curley headed sidekick was cool too. See y'a next time.
I would love to be able to come to Lightening Ridge. I’m actually a qualified jeweller but I haven’t sat at my bench for 10 years because I have been very ill. But I’m alive still to everyone’s amazement
💥👍🏻🤙🏻👊🏻 Jason, this was a difficult video for me to watch. You were talking about your loving Dad, which lead to me thinking of mine and missing him as I know that you do yours. (Tearing up 😢) I wouldn’t touch the teardrop opal. Sometimes, things are better left in all of their original glory. It’s a brilliant Cracka! Something could go wrong.😑
24:20 speaking of risks on this stone, I've wondered whether the small-flake flagstone pattern could be polished out to reveal more of the large harlequin-type flagstone. I like the idea of giving it the perfect shape tho
I love the "shed" opal the way it is! You'll never sell it! Don't cut it! The pregnant belly is cool. Don't let your ADHD get the best of you! Love you!
If my x partner pays up what is due by the end of the month lol l will be up to spend up big on a black one Lov your work hope to see you guys soon cheers l am in Melbourne Vic
Do you have much to do with Mintabie Opal? And how does Mintabie crystal opal compare to L/Ridge and Coober Pedy? Absolutely amazing love your work Mate 👍😁
It’s SO hard to capture the true beauty of opals on video-even smart phones/cameras aren’t intelligent enough to interpret then transfer the depth of color over (No slam on your vid skills), however you get the best idea and information from the BOD

I just ADORE the crystals, too - totally my favourite, but i do love raw stones in the rough, as much as cut and polished!

Yeah that one you said you wouldn't go anywhere with. I don't blame you. That is a sweet looking Stone
Oooh love that little black one with the green❤❤❤❤
Love them all, but the last one shined the brightest for me.
I really love teardrop-cuts! ❤❤❤
I missed your show once more (Dr's appointment). Watched it and enjoyed the quality of your opals.
Hey Justin, it's me again here in Olympia Washington 👋 late watching again. Oh well still here
That slightly miss shaped opal that was under your father's bed is just amazing as it is, to me removing any of that insane color would be a loss.😢
