Citizen science brings together a range of partners to help communities contribute to efforts to monitor, understand, and protect the Great Barrier Reef. Strengthening ways to inform and drive local actions that build resilience is a critical part of the effort to shape a better future for the Reef and Reef communities in the face of climate change and other threats.
This presentation will offer case studies from a diverse suite of projects seeking to translate community data and knowledge into tangible applications and local action. To achieve this, many projects are exploring ways to collaboratively design citizen science monitoring and data use, as well as strengthen community leadership to deliver outcomes. The case studies will highlight different ways to approach the design, delivery and applications of citizen science, and share insights and learnings around building partnerships to support data use and growing pathways for impact.
