Jocko doing stuff like this needs to be a regular thing, I could listen to stuff like this for thousands of hours. JD was an excellent guest and story teller

These Civil War excursions are so good. JD and Jocko discussing past battles is an amazing gift. I can’t wait to do a staff ride with JD and Jocko at Gettysburg!
Love civil war history and as a veteran, love it interpreted by men who speak in our vernacular and live our lifestyle. It goes a bit deeper and in an angle that many of us can relate.
One of the reasons why the officers didn’t believe the men reporting Jackson’s movement was because of the men being Germans. Germans were thought less of as soldiers, and were discriminated against. Read this in Bruce Canton’s three volume series on the Army of the Potomac. The series discusses pretty much what Jocko and JD are covering.
It's interesting to get on the family tree websites and figure out what your ancestors were doing at this time. Most of mine were in the North. A few were in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia, but they moved to Indiana or Ohio at the beginning. I wonder how many people moved their families North out of danger and how hard it was to do that?

JD and Jocko laid the wood to this podcast. I want more of this!
One of my favorite Jocko Podcasts! We need more excursions into other wars the US has fought like Revolutionary, WWII, 1812, Vietnam, etc

Nothing fires me up like hearing JD talking about someone "bringing the wood to that ass!"
What about when he says "ya'know what I mean?" That fires me up like nothing else

The book JD is referring is called Hardtack and Coffee. A great first hand account from the private soldier’s perspective.
The absolute best I’ve seen about the high point and low point of the Army of Northern Virginia
My great-great-great-great-great grandfather was a POW at Andersonville and survived till the end of the war
Love this series

I don't know who JD baker is but he's the funniest historian I've ever heard
The man needs to be teaching history class. I've learned more about the Civil War from this series than I have everywhere else combined.
This is an excellent series. I bet JD has a tattoo “bringin the wood! “Lol
Jocko please do a couple of episodes on Andersonville
Not always. But to know our enemy is to love them.
Good stuff!
The book is Hardtack and Coffee by John D Billings
I'd love to listen to you guys do the Revolutionary War in this style.
Well, I already listened to them all on audible, but I guess I can watch them on RUclips also!
keep coming back
Loved this
If this guy simplified his explanation that would be great. You know what I mean?
