One of the reasons why the officers didn’t believe the men reporting Jackson’s movement was because of the men being Germans. Germans were thought less of as soldiers, and were discriminated against. Read this in Bruce Canton’s three volume series on the Army of the Potomac. The series discusses pretty much what Jocko and JD are covering.

It's interesting to get on the family tree websites and figure out what your ancestors were doing at this time. Most of mine were in the North. A few were in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia, but they moved to Indiana or Ohio at the beginning. I wonder how many people moved their families North out of danger and how hard it was to do that?

Congratulations America, alas, both sides represented and in a respectful tone of reasonable expectation weve accomplished a decent bit information transfer.
I am if the Georgians, grandad 5 times, fought at Fredericksburg and Wilderness, lost an arm, walked home, lost the other arm ( his South) and was a gentleman to his dying day.
    Deo Vindice.
You can see your man Jocko not buying some of what he's handed, and a little too enthusiastic about that William Tecumseh who shall not be surname spoken, but, he s respectful about it and doesn't make us feel like a piece of shite for going with our conscience.
One thing has anyone ever considered looking at our CSA Constitution? We committed to abolition and it's ratification by 7 years after the war to accommodate assimilation and success for our negro Bruthas and Sistas. You may not be able to wrap your head around this but they were not slaves, they were our family and to see a respectful discussion take place like y'all did here means the world to those who have been denied a world their own
God bless y'all and all our good operator community.
    Thank you for your service!
