You should mention that the USB drive needs to be formatted as NTFS otherwise the copy to the USB drive will fail if the file size is greater than 4GB. I just had that happen when I tried to save a very large Outlook file when I was trying to copy over two Outlook folders to a new p.c.
You all prolly dont care at all but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot my password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Uriel Avi i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Uriel Avi HOLY **** IT ACTUALLY WORKED :O Just hacked my IG login within roughly 45 minutes of using the site. Had to pay 15 bucks but for sure worth it :O Thank you so much you saved my account!
I am using Outlook 365 as a lokal installation on my PC and another copy on my Laptop. How would I transfer all data from the pc to the laptop using OneDrive? Maybe that´s a stupid question, but I don´t know how that would change the process other than not having to use a usb drive.
In the case of moving your outlook data file, you'd simply be using One Drive to upload and copy your ost file from your old computer to a new one. However, if you are already using OneDrive, it's most likely that your outlook data is already stored in the cloud in which case you would just login to Outlook from your new computer and add a new account from Outlook - the emails and data stored in the cloud on OneDrive would automatically setup and appear.
is it necessary to set up the account first before importing a pst? What if I cannot set up the account successfully even with the exact same settings? I've had instances where an account don't seem to want to function as on the previous installation with everything exactly the same down to the incoming & out going port numbers
The settings should not have to be the same. As long as you have outlook running on your new destination computer, the import from your saved ost file should import without any limitations.
What are the drawbacks of just copying the .PST files on the old PC to the USB and then the new PC. Does the export process create a different .PST file?
It is essentially the same process. I am not aware of any differences. If you use outlook.com, you will most likely have to use the export feature. Hope this helps!
You can take your computer to the Geek Squad at Best Buy in North America or a similar computer repair service store and have them recover the information on your hard drive for a fee. If the info can be recovered they will copy the files including your outlook file onto a USB drive or other external drive for you to access. Good luck and hope this helps!
Your old emails are saved yes. Here is a link that you might helpful regarding filters / rules: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/import-or-export-a-set-of-rules-f54b5bd2-40e0-426e-9f25-e51fa14eeb95
Your Outlook screen looks nothing like mine. I have none of that information I see on yours at the top. Not even close. Mine just says Outlook and search in a line at the top.
If you go the File Menu and Select > Office Account it will show you which version of Outlook you are using under the "About Outlook" section of the screen. Despite version differences, the outlook file fand file directory should still be similar if not identical despite the screens looking different due to different versions of Outlook. Hope this helps!
great instruction. Do I need to enter email passwords etc in order for the emails to flow into the new computer/outlook or does all that migrate over in the file transfer process?
Thanks John. Glad you found it helpful! I don't believe the passwords are needed for this process since you will already be signed in or logged in an active Outlook session to export and import files. So So to answer your question, all of the emails should appear in the file transfer process as outlined in this video. I did find additional information regarding password settings on OST filed mentioned in this video. Hope this helps! support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/change-the-password-for-an-outlook-data-file-pst-a2eeefc2-aca4-49f9-9761-10e295e9fb85
I was able to transfer my data but I can't retrieve my email address book though I can see it's there but can't open it or transfer anything from it. But even worse is I can't find or transfer my emails from the old hard drive onto the new, and there are thousands and many highly important. I'm at a loss as to how to retrieve them? Anyone know how to find the emails on an old hard drive? PS: I'm trying to transfer from an old hard drive (that's been removed from a pc) onto another computer.
@@temefire I managed to start the old computer and saved the things I mentioned. I couldn't find the Windows Explorer except in one place but when clicked it just took me to This PC. So that didn't help. Anyway, I did find a way as I said earlier. Thanks!
What about if one has archive files for each of many email accounts in a single Outlook2019 app? Do we import them the same way as you suggest we do for each main email account?

Does this work with custom folders and does this work with exporting from old outlook versions to the latest versions?

How does one enter Outlook to import the pst without setting up an account first? Wouldn't the pst contain the account details in itself?
Me after noticing the task bar icons in the thumbnail:Dude what is this guy's pc resolution???

From windows explorer, enter *.ost in the search field on the drive that you want to search. Import the ost file once it is located. Hope this helps!

What about if one has archive files for each of many email accounts in a single Outlook2019 app? Do we import them the same way as you suggest we do for each main email account?
Yes, this import process should work for as many outlook data files that you have.
