Nice! Was that all improv? Kind of curious what kind of "rules" do you guys agree on (if any) before starting so that you don't step on each others toes and everything comes together so well?
Hi mate, almost everything is improv, yes, some patterns are preprogrammed, but most of it we try to make on the spot. The rule is that we try to avoid putting more than one melody at the same time and we try to communicate (or just be aware of) when someone's part is "in front" of others. Our next one (we agreed after we recorded this one) is that we will create melodies in the same scale, but here this rule was not in effect yet :D
Other "general rules" are: the main kick and bass is usually coming from my Digitakt (we thought it's the best this way to take care for the "core"), Tobias and me are creating the whole "ready made" loops and Denis is adding percussions (and sometimes leads) and taking care of the "mixing" stage, transitions and playing with effects. Also OTO Boum helps a lot with keeping everything very well glued together ;)
Thanks for the kind words ❤
@@markoluk3970 Very cool. Thanks for sharing. Then it sounds like you'd divided up based on "frequency"? Something like: person 1 lows, 2 = mids / melody; 3 = highs?
@@HalfBakedBeats Not exactly, everyone is covering rhythmic and melodic part at some point, just kick and sub (which we feel are the most delicate elements and need to be stable) are always coming from Digitakt :) But I must admit that we were thinking about the way you described (1 low, 2 mid, 3 highs) at some point, but it felt too restrictive, so we just divided kick & sub from the rest of the elements and everyone is building their thing on top of it while being aware of what everyone else is doing :)
