The former leading exorcist for The Catholic Church, Fr. Gabriele Amorth, wrote that in most cases where folks thought an exorcist was needed the 'victim' really needed a therapist or psychologist b/c they were really suffering from mental or emotional health issues. It is the policy of the CC to help put folks in contact with therapists or psychologists. Very few cases require a real exorcist. I took part in performing a real exorcism. It's not something one easily forgets.
Can't say I agree. Most people have demons. You can be a Christian and have demonic influence in your life. It's not always going to be this dramatic exorcist horror movie scene. Actually demons are quite intelligent and know if you don't know they're there then they can occupy their host much longer. Either they deceived you or you just don't have much knowledge about demons. Also, Catholics are a flase religion and a counterfeit Christianity. If you're Catholic I pray you find a way out and ask Jesus Christ to show you the truth.
Also....referrals to mental health experts? I mean sometimes sure but I think demons are way too overlooked. The spiritual is way more powerful than the physical. Everything happens in the spirit before it happens in the world. Any True Beliver in Christ can cast a demon out. You don't need an "exorcist" a priest or holy water. You just need Jesus Christ living inside you.
