Delightful to find this video; it's interesting to see inside the factory that produces these kuffiyeh. It was doubly interesting for me because as a young man I worked in the textile trade and the machinery looked familiar. I've got the Hirbawi website open right now so I can buy a couple more of the original kuffiyeh, and they have a short video on youtube also. I bought a small collection of the different coloured Hirbawi keffiyeh a couple of years ago, but it's only the original black and white ones that I wear when I go out anywhere. Come rain or come shine, I like to advertise my solidarity with Palestinians and support for their country and their culture. Their history is amazing, and so few people really understand or know anything about it.. There's a wonderful book available called "Palestine - A Four Thousand Year History" by historian and author Nur Masalha. I cannot recommend it enough. Free Palestine!!
I wish that these hardships and struggles would end for Palestine.. tears me up to see this happening and most people are unaware of whats going on for so long.. I bought one of your Keffiyeh just yet, hope I can add some benefit or food in a plate for some people there. Long live Palestine!
i guess Im randomly asking but does any of you know a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot my password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Jay Magnus i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Jay Magnus HOLY **** IT REALLY WORKED! I literally hacked my Instagram account details within about 40 minutes of using the site. Just had to pay 15$ but for sure worth the money :) Thank you so much you saved my account !
I'm not of Palestinian origin, but, you may rest assured, the standard black and white design is the original; most definitely. I wear one of these original Hirbawi keffiyeh everywhere I go as an expression of support for Palestine and its people.
I have mine for the US. I know some look at these items as unfavorable as they are usually known to Arab men or even associated with Islam. However, going back far enough, Arabic men and women wore cloth like this long before Mohammed ever found Islam. So at the end of the day, it's not making a statement; it's just a beautifully crafted scarf that can be used during the pandemic over one's mouth, as hospital masks are in short supply. So might as well look good keeping safe. Also, the colors of the shemagh represent certain tribes of Arab nations too. You also see Israeli citizens who wear scarfs like this but are usually black and white. So I do agree that mostly the veil is known as a symbol of resistance, but the symbol does not belong to any one people. It only originated there. Symbols are ever-evolving. The only negative thing I will say about manufacturers who make these scarfs is some are refusing to sell to the US for fear that their ”symbol” is being taken from them. But again, these scarfs have been around long before they were a symbol of resistance.
Mr. X exactly. And 100% cotton is the way to go as the cotton keeps cold water cool for hours. I wear mine in 90-degree weather, and my neck stays cool.
It's pretty much everything in mankind's history that makes even this piece of cloth possible. It's very useful for anything: head, face, neck protection, for heat regulation, as a bandage or triangular bandage if you break your bones, concealment, filtering the bigger particles in dirty water, as a little improvised bag, as a way to start a fire, as a weapon, also as a fashionable item that never gets old and a piece of artistic craftsmanship!
