Ashar 15, also known as "Dhan Diwas" or "Rice Plantation Day," is a significant Nepali festival , celebrating the monsoon season's arrival and the beginning of rice planting. This year, the celebration took a unique turn as it was organized in Jhepi, under the Bijanbari block of Darjeeling, by Feel a Thrill, a local adventure company, in collaboration with YATRI Homestay.
The event brought together the vibrant youth of Darjeeling and the hardworking local farmers, fostering a sense of community and cultural appreciation. The youth, many experiencing rice planting for the first time, worked alongside seasoned farmers, learning the traditional techniques that have sustained the region for generations. This hands-on participation not only educated the younger generation about their cultural heritage but also emphasized the importance of agriculture in sustaining their community.
Feel a Thrill and YATRI Homestay orchestrated a day filled with not just hard work, but also enjoyment and bonding.
