I would like to add something to your last summary
All kind of motors work on same principal to rotate stator sinosudal type current is required
Pmsm use ac current and
Dc motors (any kind) use brushes with comutater to make dc current suitable for motor to create flux its simple
But the reason for why pmsm is prefered over bldc or any other dc motor is the way we control speed of motor without losing efficiency
Pmsm can be controlled with modulating frequency
Dc current is flat no frequency to control speed we can only modulate pulse width that will put frequency to dc current but the average voltage would still be same
So even when we reduce speed we use same power
Btw in my opinion both dc motor (any kind) or ac motor(sync) are almost same performing in EVs
Bldc was created to be light weight and is often used in drones and is hella expensive
On the other hand pmsm is new tech (atleast for indian market) is specially created to replace universal motor which are highly not efficient, heat alot but have good torque

Very good info. Bgauss D15i has PMSM hub motor with max speed of 60kmph. How is this motor any issues in longer period of 8years or so? do you recommend this for Blore roads which rains heavily and water logged?

Thanks for the nice video with technical details on EV motors. Please make a video on Chetak motor and drive train details. Understand the motor is directly connected to the rear wheel with gears. Does it absorb shocks unlike in case of belt driven motor?

S1 Air has BLDC Hub Motor it seems ? I am getting S1 Air for ₹85000 (on road) is it worth ? or should I spend few more and get S1 ? It has lesser range ? Even TVS iqube has Hub motor, but still it runs well.

Just wanted to clearify that BLDC Hub motor and PMSM motors are both same by design, its the electronics and controller that makes the difference, BLDC and PMSM motor can used interchangeably, while IPM motor is the is 80% same as BLDC or PMSM motor with more advanced electronics and control system. All companies uses BLDC motor with different power ratings.
I always love to explain in laymans language. What you said is also correct sir.

@@NehalPatelNMP that's what ur fault is. Ola is nothing like activa. Ola is much superior in all aspects. Try Ola u will never feel like riding an activa Or TVS. U have been missled by stupid utubers who are promoting outdated tech u will soon regret ur perchase.

Very nice once again, I learned some nice stuff. I had seen a bldc motor in an expensive toy car which had come for repair at me local mechanic's shop and the only part gone was the hall effect sensor. This was some 6 years ago and I did some reading and concluded that I won't buy a hub motor ev. Tvs ticks a lot of my requirements except for this hub motor unfortunately. Very useful content, keep it up 😉

You can add that, those are 3 phase AC motors. It is more efficient than any other motors. And inveter is used to achive 3 phase power. This is expensive compared to bldc arrangement.
And please correct the graphs you showed. It's showing as brushed DC motor and you are explaining it as brushless dc motor.

For some of the EVs BLDCs have very good ingress protection. For ex. TVS iQube
16:56 its Brushed DC and we are talking about Brushless DC (BLDC)

Thank you for your comment. IPMM technology has better torque than PMSM.
Ather is far better than Ola & everyone knows this ! I even had drag race between Ather and my Avenger 220 cruise.. Ather performed better..
As an educator, I talked about motors and their performance.. Ola is not able to perform better than Ather is not my concern for this video.. for that you can check my other videos.
