“Go Toriyama, and teach a dinosaur to ride a ball” RIP the legend
And that's how Goku became a Super Saiyan...
Tfs good
I involuntarily scream cried when i read that
The morning I heard the news I started up dragon ball to watch all the way thru in honor of him then I’m gonna do Z good bye Akira toriyama your the grandfather of Shonen anime and and inspiration to everyone
@StonedFox0420 I am currently listening to every Dragon Ball game soundtrack on RUclips (except some since they are based on the anime version).
Tho I started before Toriyama's passing, I will definently complete that task in honor of the GOAT of the GOATS !
An international public holiday should be made in honor and celebration of Akira Toriyama and his work.
I second that.
Agreed
I may not have grown up with Dragon Ball, but I watched from the Raditz Saga all the way to the Cell Saga, and I agree, Toriyama Day should exist.
I vote for this.
I think there's already a Goku day in Japan
Dragonball taught me about the benefit of body and mind, improvisation in writing, and always maintaining imagination no matter how fast life goes by.
Work hard, study hard, and plenty of rest. That is the Turtle Hermit way!
@@tigerwarrior1787 Bro you almost made me cry with that roshi quote.
@@tigerwarrior1787sorry to say this but you forgot to add eat plenty too which is important part of quote
He united cultures, inspired staples like One Piece & Naruto, he changed the world. RIP Akira Toriyama, you deserve a small museum dedicated to you.
Indeed. The best thing about Dragonball was how easily accessible it was to so many people. The story is simple but very identifiable.
@@offthedeepend3996 It's amazing how universal his worlds felt. The original story is based on Journey to the West, a Chinese story, features military that resembles various historical militaries, cities that feel culture androgynous, characters from various planets, animals from various time periods, creative depictions of the afterlife, futuristic city life, machines, robots, mad scientists, Native American inspired tribes, India inspired villages (Nam is unironically one of my favorite DB characters with his cool fighting style and just hilarious reactions to others along with his noble goals for fighting in the tournament). He made all kinds of food look so delicious to eat (watching Goku makes anyone hungry). He made martial arts of various styles seem so enticing as a method of honing one's body and mind (inspiring many martial artists, weight lifters, or any other fitness disciplines). His characters were literally about various different races (I mean, not just human even, the king of the planet is a dog lol). Despite what some peope think, I believe Toriyama just wanted to make a really intersting world that anyone could relate to with its characters. It's often a story about a journey, so many places are visited, bringing out the imagination of kids and adults of any culture. The awesome fighting choreography, the transformations, the epic ki blast battles, the intriguing stories involving the Androids, time travel, a space emperor, turning into a giant monkey. Heartwarming moments like Goku seeing his grandpa again for the first time since his death (knowing how Goku only ever traveled to find the 4 star ball because his grandpa meant so much to him). Seeing our protagonist literally grow, physically and mentally, through the years, having his own family, sons, and even grandchild.
The way he actually drew the characters and his masterful paneling so everything is easy to read and understand (I saw Mark's video only, but I appreciated it much more once I understood why it was so straightforward to read). The style is iconic, the jokes are funny, and the characters unique. It really is no wonder so many cultures love the series.
I want to see him get a statue like the one of Walt Disney at Disney World.

As a blind kid, his stories of adventure inspired my creativity. Dragon Ball was central to my childhood, it’s stories help me through my parents divorce, it connected me with friends in college, and introduced me to a wider world of cultural influences.
His legacy will live on in people like me, and his memory will be cherished always.
Rest in Peace, Akira Toriyama. You may be gone but your legacy lives on forever. 😢

Akira Toriyama and his Dragon Ball series is the main reason i was able to continue on living after my almost rock bottom situation after 2012. Once I found out Super was in the works, I kept on living. Now here I am in 2024 with a college degree and looking to improve my life beyond what I currently have. I live because of that man. I'm sure he'd praise you for being strong, for trying to make the most out of yourself and life. Hope you keep getting the success and happiness you deserve!

Yesterday was a rough day for everyone
I’ve always loved other things from Toriyama from Dragon Ball, but without Dragon Ball, those other projects he made wouldn’t be acknowledged without Dragon Ball. I love Dragon Ball including the other work from Toriyama, may he rest easy.
You almost crying made me cry. RIP Master Toriyama.
Akira Toriyama's work has always been a big part of my life. From beating up slimes in Dragon Warrior on the NES, to Super Broly, and beyond. Games, anime, art. He has been an inspiration for me in so many ways. Learning that he was no longer with us hit me hard... I believe that the best way to honor the legacy he left us with, is to continue to be inspired. Take that silly idea you have and develop it. It doesn't matter if nobody believes in it. Just roll with it. Even if it doesn't go anywhere, you made something no one else did. That's special.
Rest In Peace Akira Toriyama
For me, I didn't start watching Dragon Ball until DBZ when I was around 13 or maybe a little older. Before then though, I actually played the Dragon Ball video games first. So I knew all about the story of DBZ before watching Kai on Nicktoons. When I grew up and wasn't really playing the Tenkaichi series, I was playing Raging Blast or I was playing Blue Dragon a game he did the artwork for. After finally watching the anime for the first time, I knew I had found something that I really liked. I went back and watched Dragon Ball, watched DBZ, and Kai, and started watching Super in Japanese because I didn't want to wait for it to come to English. Dragon Ball had such a profound impact on my life that it inspired me to make my own videos talking about it, because I just wanted to talk about it with someone. He was an inspiration to not only thousands of kids and adults around the world, but he was an icon in the manga world. Mangaka singing his praises and talking about how they were inspired by his work. Seeing Kishimoto and Oda talk about their sadness for his passing destroyed me. I couldn't believe the news when it hit me. I'll forever miss him, and forever treasure the impact he had on my life. Yesterday was my birthday, and hearing about it the day before made celebrating it rough. Thank you, Toriyama, for all that you've done.
Dragonball is to Anime and Manga what The Lord of the Rings is to Fantasy. You can't watch an anime without some small nod to it somewhere. It's in the DNA of every series that came after it. It is the giant whose shoulders other great works stand on.
Akira Toriyama’s death shook the world. I don’t think we even fully realize how much of an impact he’s made on the manga/comic industry. Though he will forever be missed, his legacy continues through the creative minds of those that he’s entertained throughout his years.
Never stop creating and may his soul find peace.
Even games
Toriyama's 69th(Nice) birthday was right around the corner too. April 5th, all of us Dragon Ball fans should celebrate his birthday, in his honor. Rest well, Toriyama Sensei. 🙏
It was an absolute gut-punch waking up to the news when his passing was announced. Akira Toriyama was so important to all of us. The memories he forged. Thank you for your take on it. It really resonated.
Toriyama is why I began drawing. He had this way of illustrating the lives of his characters where you feel like you could be there. You could just picture being in a world with people going about their lives in between the battles and the catastrophes, picking up the pieces and just vibing. I'm going to miss him so much. Be at peace, Akira Toriyama.

When you deliver the line for Goku in Cooler Movie, "You were taken before your time" to a bird that named Toriyama is really sums up of how we feel of Toriyama death, and 68 feels like still young. Thank-you for everything, Mr. Toriyama...
Dragon Ball will always be the best anime
Dragon Ball's writing and style of worldbuilding and character design has deeply embedded myself into my psyche. Even things that aren't explicitly Dragon Ball related I've found has had influence from that critical work.
I remember being a kid, recently moved into my current house, with nothing but a Dish network box TV atop a tiny entertainment system in my living room during the earliest hours of the morning to watch Nick Toons play Dragon Ball Z's English dub. I hardly missed an episode. Sometimes I'd wake up on the couch in front of the TV and it would be playing.
In spite of all of the growing pains Dragon Ball has faced over the years, it is still a masterwork, and I will miss Toriyama. Dragon Ball will simply not be the same without his touch.
May he rest in peace.
Dragon Ball taught me to keep going, no matter what. Keep fighting no matter how bad things may get. As my character in Xenoverse 2 stand at the podium, doing the Spirit Bomb enote, I can't help but cry. But while I feel an immense sense of loss, I feel thankful. Thankful for all the lessons, and the joy that Toriyama gave us. Thankful for the tears, laughs, and smiles his stories gave us. Thankful for everything.
I'll miss him, so so much. Goodbye, Akira Toriyama. ❤
Akira Toriyama has gone to otherworld. He was the godfather of Shonen. Rip 🙏🏻 to the legend 🙏🏻
Not going to lie this effects me greatly and realising how much of an impact his franchise has had on me is amazing Thank you deeply Mr Toriyama your franchise has had on us as fans.
This one hit hard, I was working and on a call when I got notified. Legit had to compose myself.
Dragon ball z to me was one of the few happy points in rough period of my childhood. It'll always be my favourite show from my childhood, my favourite anime, ever.
My 2 best friends of over 20 years now first bonded playing the Tenkaichi Budokai games together.
These are bonds in my life that wouldn't have started without Akira Toriyama's creation.
The cartoons before school were the happiest times for me, as it was conversation starters on the playground. Australian kids who grew up in the late 90s early 00s would remember Cheez TV.
Peak Cheez TV line up was Digimon, Pokemon & Dragonball Z. I'll never forget everyone losing their minds (myself included) when Goku turned super saiyan for the first time.
No show other than maybe the simpsons has impacted me on a level that Dragon Ball has.
RIP Akira Toriyama

I always saw Dragon Ball as a show full of cool action as a kid. And while I still do see it as that as an adult, I grew to appreciate and love the comedy and adventure Toriyama had given us in DB and Z along with his other work like most of Minus and a bit of Dr. Slump. Despite us losing a legend, I'm glad his legacy lives on strong and we can talk about the things he did while even teaching us a thing or two.
I love how while the show was violent and brutal, it was also about this little family growing up and growing closer to each other.

Akira Toriyama did what Stan Lee did to the action comic books. I was 7 years old and immigrant who loved dragonball I was obsessed with it !! I love the games . And it opened my eyes to other mangas.
He inspired a generation of Artists
I discovered Dragonball Z when my parents sent me to Mexico back in 96 (I was 7) but because I lived in the country side I didn't have a proper antenna to see it Monday through Friday at 8pm on channel 5. I made a friend who invited me to his house and he said hey you wanna "stay to watch Dragonball Z" and M-F I went to his house to watch Dragonball Z till my Mom got satélite, then we watched at my place.
