If yours has a bit more hours / mileage on yours than the video above, I suggest removing your muffler and checking the exhaust port for clogging due to soot in the port. Mine started but maintained very low rpm. Yes i had the capacitor problem too, first. Move to 450w capacitor. Mine has been in service for over 12 years.
It takes allot of pulls to get mine going to with full choke. Especially in really cold weather. I had to replace the carburetor on mine because the float would stick in the up position, not allowing the float bowl to fill with gas. Since then, I have not had any issues with it other than it takes allot of pulls to get it going. But once it's running it will run the full tank without any hiccups.
I am on my 4th harbor freight tail gator in a period of 3 short weeks, all I run on it is 2 laptops and I have had nothing but problems with this thing. every week I have to drive 120 miles round trip to replace the tailgator and it is not worth getting a new one
Mine was a spark coil. Don't ask for coils at the mower shop. Go to v power in NJ USA . Mine got the part. And away we go. Oh don't use the original plug. Chinese plug bad. Auto lite is best .and I'm 68 don't like cranking
I know there cheap and they are cheap and break down easier. But if your good at finding the problem such as spark arrestor it can last for a long time.
You put to much fuel in. I know, I did the same thing. I read the instructions first, where it says to leave an inch of space below the top of the tank on the inside. But to say also it says to leave enough space for air; two conflicting statements. but still I poured the whole gallon in, thinkingxx no I mean without thinking. Its advertised on the box having a one gallon tank, but it doesn't tell you that to leave an inch of spacec below the top of the tank while the tank is only 1.5 inches deep. You do the math. I had to stuff a shirt into the tank to get fuel out, and a towel. But I had a funnel that covered the opening and i couldn't see, again thinking it was a one gallon tank. Why would they advertise for a one gallon tank when their instructions say to leave a 2/3s (of the tanks depth) empty for air of the carb. Can someone tell me how to spell carberater? I'm hungry.
Cause it’s a total POS! I went to start 3 months after buying the POS like it said to and the POS Won’t start! I have blisters on my hands from trying to start the POS & I have very rough hands! It’s a total piece of garbage! Damn thing is only 3 months old don’t waist ur money!
I'm ready to drag mine down the road. The carb seems clean when I blow through it but the engine won't pull any fuel in. It won't even hit on starter fluid and the fire is strong.

Not sure you ever got that thing started but I just had the same exact problem. I cleaned the jet on the carb and it started right up.
I need starting fluid to start mine. I use the pre-mix in the can too. once it starts, it runs good. you get what you pay for.
I bought many of these before finding main problom.....spark arrestor clogs up. Banana in the tailpipe
Jo, i did the same thing!!!Lol. So this is my problem? The spark arrestor clogging up?
So how do you fix it?
@@aleshajohnson97477 remove spark arrestor
This guy reminds me of the Texas chain saw massacre. But I haven't seen the movie. Darn, I just spill beer on my lap.
I finally gave up and used a hole saw, took out the recoil, put a hole in the cover and just use my drill with a socket to start it LOL
Just in case people are still looking, check the Chinese connection behind the on/off switch...when you have a no spark condition.

Same bloody problem here. Ran mine through the breaking in period, used it a few days later to buff the car out, and now absolutely nothing.

Arrestor where is that location on engine,on a Tailgator
.....MINE ALWAYS STARTS BETTER OUTSIDE....I THINK IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE VERY HARD TO FIND ...RUN OUT SIDE ONLY SWITCH...
Neither would mine and I kept it in the warm it would not start stabilizer all kinds of stuff in and still would not start
Ah keep a dry spare. And some sand paper as any 2 cycle plug tends to candy.

Can I have it then
Ever figure out the problem? Mine is doing the same thing
I'm not sure but it seemed like he put windshield washer fluid in the gas tank instead of gasoline. 😁😂
The 2 cycle changes the color. Some 2 cycle is a cherry color. And will give it a pinkish hue.
Open the fuel valve

A little prime wouldn't hurt.
Best thing to do that throw it in the junk and spend some xtra money on a more quality product
Look at the spark plug make its not broke anywhere and grounding out somewhere
