This is a GREAT review! I own the Rafale and was debating on the Eurofighter, but I believe that I am going to stick to my Rafale and be happy. I love the maneuverability, and landings are immense fun, now that I've learned to land this thing properly. I may mod the canards for more maneuverability and then I'll be a happy. Thanks for this review, that was exactly what I was looking for. 👍
I had NO idea what I was getting myself into when I purchased the Rafale on craigslist. After watching this video a bunch of times. I've become more comfortable with extreme maneuvers, and I'm absolutely in love with the Rafale.
@@TwoBrosRC Now that my piloting abilities have increased I can definitely exploit the huge flight envelope. FYI I saw that you painted yours black from the Ace combat and I'm going to do the solo demo red and navy blue scheme. You're a damn inspiration.
Its kinda funny that both of these are you best jets of enter-year-here, cause the Rafale was created due to the EF2000 not fully fulfilling Frances desired specifications. Model or full scale they’re directly competing jets!
Your a great inspiration to throw these planes about . We can try to emulate your aerobatic manoeuvres and try and throw caution to the wind ,a bit 😁. Thank you again, great comparisons. I own both. Love both aircraft.😎 🇬🇧
It's interesting the wingload on the Rafale is 43.8g/dm^2 less than the Eurofighter, and 720g flying weight less (w/5000mah 6s). Clearly the Rafale has the advantage in obedience and agility.
Do you prefer the SMC Lipo packs over the LiHv packs for these jets. I'm curious why if you have the time. Great videos Jon, I always look forward to your take on these planes.
Looks like you had fun Jon. I go the Deion Sanders route...BOTH! Lol. It's sad you have to work around the dreaded "Blue Box" to get the gear to cycle in less than a week with the EF. Great looking Jet though. Nice detailed comparison.
It's unfortunate that FW still thinks it's acceptable to have a 30 second gear delay *per cycle*, but thankfully you can work around it. It would be nice to see them start moving their electronics into the 2020s and upgrade the voltage the retracts can handle, too. 5v retracts don't play well with 6v systems.
Definitely don't get a jet as expensive as this one if you're still using SAFE for general flying. Something more inexpensive would be a better choice for that kind of application. While it can be done, we don't recommend it for more than reorientation or quick transmitter checks in flight.
Thanks for the vid. I still can't decide between the two, but I am leaning towards the Eurofighter after watching this. Seems like the 90mm EDF is a serious upgrade compared to the 80mm Rafale. I'm wondering how hard it would be to modify the elevons and make them full span? Perhaps that's something you'll try some day. I also noticed Freewing *used* to sell a thrust vector version of the Eurofighter... I would like to see if it's possible to re-add TV to the new version (this one) that doesn't have it.
It would be a significant amount of work and it would look goofy because the Eurofighter's elevons are gapless, so anything you cut to make it work will look wrong comparatively. You'd also have to add a servo housing. It's probably worth the effort but we just don't have the time or skill to do it right. You can add TV to it by chopping up the tail and installing a TV module, but it'll look horrible compared to the stock setup.
Did I notice Emericas??? Sir, do you skate/did you skate? Also this answered the question on which one I'm going to rig up for scale fpv reasons. thanks!
Thanks for the comparison. Just a note, with the RC Geek (or others) nozzle reduction mod on the Rafale, may Rafale takes off in significantly shorter distance than the Eurofighter.
We did end up using nozzles from a fellow named Kallend on RC Groups which made a significant difference in both thrust and flight time, both positives. We'll cover that in a video soon and feature the new Ace Combat 5 Razgriz scheme for Rafale.
@@shahram677 That weight you needed to add is precisely why we don't recommend 8 cell upgrades. It's just too much additional weight on top of a heavy battery, motor, and ESC combo.
BTW,I could remove air brake and I could put one of my 4s into it,this way I can remove 50g from tail but still is too much weight and in other hand I found out manufacture put another 20g inside of fuselage under vertical stabilizer plastic part which is hidden
Hello, I really like the Rafael , do you have proof, are they some F-14, it would be interesting. I know it's not like the Rafale or Eurofighter but I'd like to see you with one. All the best
It adds high end thrust at the cost of low end performance. We don't really care about top speed as we're far more interested in how slow something can fly.
Sorry John I was commenting on a previous video on same plane when it switched yours. Haha I struggle with my Rafale to lift off my grass runway. I’ve ran off the end a few times taking damage each time. I do love it once it’s flying though. She’s a beast. It needs a larger front wheel or it needs to be a little nose up when sitting for it to lift.
I would love to know how you did it. My brother in law and I have rafales off your recommendation I don’t want to use the control board. We would love to set it up like you did. Can you give me a brief description if you don’t mind. I would happily contribute to your patreon for your help Thank you love the channel
Awesome! We look forward to this comparison.
I’m sure FMS Rafale 80mm will win 🥳
Great video Jon! It’s also worth mentioning that besides their performance comparison, there Eurofighter costs almost 150$ more AFAIK
Great point!
@@Bill14886 I wish the 64mm had retractable gears😢

@@TwoBrosRC I saw my typo, whoops. I meant to say you're black Rafale. Voice to text error.
Very great jhon i like your chanel 🎉🎉🎉
FANTASTIC 🎉 LOVE THAT YELLOW SCHEME!
At last. I’ve been anticipating this one

Interesting info there!
The French were never going to go with the EF. They always do things their own with their military.

I love the Rafale but I'd have to go with the Euro Fighter on this one for it's overall stability.

Do you prefer the SMC Lipo packs over the LiHv packs for these jets. I'm curious why if you have the time. Great videos Jon, I always look forward to your take on these planes.
The LiPo pack was used because we didn't have enough HV packs for both jets. HV is generally superior to LiPo in our experiences.
I like the Rafale, but and the yellow is bright but I don't like the scheme , I could do without the lion claws and all that
Now if it had the 64mm scheme

Have you flown the Freewing Mirage? I'd love to know your thoughts about it. I feel like it does high alpha very very well.
Never flown it, but it's a death dorito. It'll high alpha.
I have both and my preference is the Rafale. It's just more fun to fly.
We love both but for different reasons.
Would you say the eurofighter is a good second jet?
Or maybe a third?
Can you fly it with safe?

With the current trend of 64mm I’m betting a donut that a 64mm typhoon comes out
👀

You did notice Emericas. Our lead pilot wishes he had the coordination to skate. They're comfortable and durable which is why he wears them.

@@TwoBrosRC awesome. I definitely found a difference once they were in place. Looking forward to the video.
They really need to get rid of these tiger schemes. The year of the Tiger is over. Please give us an alternative scheme for both jets.
It would be nice to see something else for a change.
Both jet are amazing. Have you thought about doing a review on the mirage 2000 80MM from freewing. I have it, and it is an high alpha beast.
We've considered it!
If you had to pick between the eurofighter or viper 90 which would you go with?
Can't say. They're both solid choices.
Which one is more beginner friendly?
Rafale, mostly due to handling characteristics and its lower price point.
Just buy both 😋
Great flight, that rafale is nice , but that euro is a problem 💪💯💯
A problem?
@@TwoBrosRC my bad for the misunderstanding, probelms referring as a beast , real nice , 🗣️💯

May I know how much weight did you add to Eurofighter?
And how much you went behind CG mark?
This is being flown at 35mm level behind the marks with 28g of weight in the tail.
@@TwoBrosRC you are very lucky,I have 8s version and I added 170g so far

What makes you prefer rc castle vs motion rc? Just curious
We prefer the business model of RC Castle and how they treat their customers.
how much does the battery last?
Depends on how you fly.
Now I've got to get both thanks great video. Aren't both jets 6s compatible? Why in the world they leave the pilot out makes no sense.
Use the code and link in the description for 10% off the Rafale when it comes back in stock!
@@TwoBrosRCThanks for that
Can you please post a link to your Rafale set up?
We decided not to create one due to very low demand. If you need specific help, let us know!
Did you do the nozzle mod on the Rafale?
Nope. We generally shy away from modifying exhausts as it's often unnecessary.
@@TwoBrosRC that’s interesting…as this mod is proven to increase thrust quite significantly. It has been well documented.
It adds high end thrust at the cost of low end performance. We don't really care about top speed as we're far more interested in how slow something can fly.
@@TwoBrosRC Makes sense. There's plenty of rockets to have fun with, it's nice to float like a butterfly, then sting like a bee.

What is your favorite sporty bush plane? I know rc is expensive so i gotta cap the price at $300 😂
The Super Cub 1300mm is a solid inexpensive option: bit.ly/SuperCub1300
