I would argue the last one is also about being lost, though for the diver more so from feeling out of his depths about what to do about the angry mom-maid.
My head canon for the mermaid group is that the mother had the baby with a previous human, and it ended up going south. Which is why she’s so protective against another human being near her kid
All three look wonderful! My favorite has to be the tree (?) woman! She feels very fae-like, luring a child deeper into the woods for a nefarious purpose. You also really captured a sort of scary gorgeousness with her! She's got a flower crown! Flower crowns are always cute right! Not when they're literally beheaded flowers! I also love how the alive flower child is looking towards what I assume to be the light source, while the woman is leering behind him with an empty grin (and eyes) half covered in shadow. Forgive me if the last part doesn't make sense I'm not an artist!
For me the second one was the best! Sidenote: Did anyone else noticed that none of these families had a dad in the picture? Just mums with kid(s). As it is a magazine, not a family album, it is unlikely that they took the picture... So...
I also found that... interesting. There was actually one other costume idea that included a father, but it was literally just clowns and I found them boring, hahaha.
I love this series! As a kid i remember begging for these halloween magazines specifically, i think i had four or five. i loved looking at the spooky crafts and treats and even convinced my parents to let me try a couple
i love the twist you added to the inspirations. Making it more interesting. My favorite is the Space Mom. Just casually collecting' star' kids. Idk why but that made me think of the Resident Evil Nemesis saying " Stars". but it's the space mom saying that seeing a lost floating spaceman unaware of what's to come.
I love Kasey's videos, especially when they fall when I have an art block. Speaking of Kasey if you see this I'd love another art block video if you wouldn't mind making another. Please and thank you. Hope you have a great weekend! ❤
You know that one meme of a mom yelling at her kid and the dad tries to step in only to end up on his knees getting yelled at as well? That’s the vibes the piece gives me
Mer-mom: "What have I told you about bringing those weird earth creatures home with you?! NO PETS!! You just get upset when they die and they're all so bizarre and unique looking so I can't just switch it out for an alive one while you're at school and tell you it's the same one. You're too old to believe in a ocean in the sky where all the humans go to be free and swim around in kelp fields all day. It's too much hassle when you get too rough and they die of blood loss. I just can't do this all again Christopher. No means no. Take him back where you found him right this instant young man, or do I have to call your father?" Shark boy: "But Mooooooooommmm! I wanna keep him!" Diver: 😳😰😬
Omg, the creepy woodland woman is so horrifying but cool at the same time!! Her smile is so offputting, the way you drew the poor little flower babies on her is so cute and sad. AGH! Could I use the concept for my dnd campaign? She seems like the perfect villain for a couple sessions. If not that's super understandable!
Hullo Kasey, I simply love your style! You are truly inspirational and so talented, you created a wonderful Halloween themed video and from simple magazine layouts! Well done young lady! I am a little bit concerned that you are not creating a background for your pieces, it does lend an air of unfinished potential to them, really just one opinion. I think back to your simple circles of color to separate your figures and believe that might be a solution that you might consider going back to? Ah well it is a fun video and wonderful artworks, thanks for sharing your costumed ideas with us.
Not me being SO convinced that the second drawing was going to go along the Sims 2 route, where plant-sims shake pollen from the big flower on their heads to grow their babies! 😂
Yes, true, but if these flower creatures walked around like humans and had faces I think they would not only have blood, but also internal organs, hahaha.
The wood-fairy is an absolute groomer. She tries to befriend you, and just when you're most vulnerable, you're dead. ...That's arguably a better fate than what usually happens with groomers.
Love this space mom but all I can keep going back to look at is her long fingernails holding the star. My girl needs to go back to the space nail salon asap. She's losing her press ons! 😂
Is it just me or is something off with the paints that Kasey’s using? It could also be the paper, but I think it’s the paints. When Kasey colors in a big flat area, the way the paint dries gives it this odd texture. Kasey’s doing everything right so those flats should be nice and smooth, not patchy. The paint also dulls the line art, if you look at the tree woman, when Kasey painted in the dress, the ink became duller in color. Maybe that last one is normal. Regardless, I don’t remember Kasey’s watercolors looking like this, so I thought she swapped brands but it still seems it’s Qor.
I think it's more of a US thing. There are 3 types of costume for Halloween I think. 1) The cute-but-boring ones - these are either really generic Halloween like witches, bedsheet ghosts, vampire, or really dull and boring ones that have been done a million times like mermaid (no-one does it like Cher does 😂) Disney princess, superhero/villain or stuff like the ones here in this magazine. Also includes latest trends/fads like TV characters (Danerys Targaryon/The Witcher etc) 2) The "who/what are you again?" - includes costumes people think are witty/clever but no-one actually gets them and costumes that are easily confused with each other (like in the bit in 'Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy' where Trillian is dressed as Charles Darwin but keeps getting confused with Santa/Abe Lincoln etc). 3) The 'made it sexy/slutty anyway' costumes. These are just absolutely anything but they've made the costume way smaller, have less coverage of their bodies and are usually paired with stockings/fishnets. This is regardless of whether it is appropriate or makes sense to 'make it slutty' 😂 I am literally waiting on the day that someone thinks it's ok to dress as Hitler if they make his uniform hot pants, fishnets and a fitted blazer with no shirt under it 😂😂😂
@@Littlewings1211 as someone who lives in the US I can say you are 100% right but you forgot 2 types. 4. The ACTUALLY scary ones that are pretty good at FX makeup. Most of the time it's a pregnant person who did the baby ripping out of the stomach, or someone who just down right went ALL OUT and used the entire gallon of liquid latex and fake blood. 5. The people who dress up as horror movie, or horror game icons. Ie. Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, any of the zombies from "Left 4 dead" etc.
So interesting how the first two drawings involve being lost but take completely different turns
I would argue the last one is also about being lost, though for the diver more so from feeling out of his depths about what to do about the angry mom-maid.

Aw.
Lol as Kasey was drawing it I was thinking nasty aquatic family custody battle. 😂
This was so fun!! My fave is definitely the mermaid mum!! 😂
OMG the mermaid mum turned out sooooo goood! I love it too! 💚💙

Love the creepy wood fairy design! The hollow eyes are just such a nice touch
I love this series!! I sure hope you keep getting inspired by magazines because your art is 🔥!! So much fun and so unique.
For me the second one was the best!

exactly what i ws about to say.. where are the dads?! I hope these magazines are more progressive nowadays
These all turned out great! It was very fun to watch you paint them on Twitch too.
I love this series! As a kid i remember begging for these halloween magazines specifically, i think i had four or five. i loved looking at the spooky crafts and treats and even convinced my parents to let me try a couple
Love the mermaid! This was a fun and creative one!

What do you mean by 'art block' video? Like... how to overcome it?
@@KaseyTheGolden yea 😅 I should have specified that.
You know that one meme of a mom yelling at her kid and the dad tries to step in only to end up on his knees getting yelled at as well? That’s the vibes the piece gives me
The little flower babies remind me of Gudetama!
The shark kid is just a reverse mermaid 😂😂😂😂😂
I love them all, but the second drawing is my favorite! The way you drew the wooden skin, I love it ❤
This magazine provides a ton of inspiration=) Love these families - they all are so unique!
I had Fun , i love the pieces , thank you
The first costume gave such middle child vibes. As a middle child, I have been the star. Lol
this is probably my favorite of your recent videos! you’re so creative 🥰
You should do some creepy Halloween washi tape art 💕
I think Mermaid Mom is upset Shark Child and Adopted Diver Child are late for curfew.
I love your stories just as much as I love your art ❤️🤣😍
Omg I love this series!
Halloween: NO DADS ALLOWED.
That said, I very much enjoy these pieces.

😂😂😂😂 I love this story idea!!! I 100% believe that's what's happening here!! 😂😂😂😂😂

Love them all! ✌🏻🎨☕️
Looooooooove this!!!

I think it's better that you didn't put blood on the flower tree drawing, because flowers don't have blood
Yes, true, but if these flower creatures walked around like humans and had faces I think they would not only have blood, but also internal organs, hahaha.
If the little girl is an astronaut, and the mother is a galaxy, does that mean the the daughter is exploring her mom?

times 30 years old books photos halloween and birthday
Diver is late on child support
Why do they all look like aliens forced to dress up like people for the first time???
