+LoW LyFe I'm pretty sure the Seattle bands of the early 90s would have blown Oasis away had they been around at the same time. Oasis had their first hit after Kurt Cobain died & didn't have to compete with them.

Doesn't explain why you brought up the Gorillaz project. Surely it proves that you agree that since it is significantly different in focus and sound that it deserves a different artist name (which it does - "Gorilliaz")? Art should have focus and a point. Consistency helps. As does integrity.
And secondly there's no need for insults. I could have chosen to call you an idiot for proving my point by mentioning the Gorillaz (a different name for a different project). I could have called you an idiot for bringing up classical composers in a debate about pop music. But I didn't.

I said there was no link between classical COMPOSERS and the current discussion (changing one's artist name for a significantly different musical project). How on earth could Damon Albarn have the nerve to call Cigarettes & Alcohol "baggy"?? I suppose There's No Other Way or Bang don't sound baggy at all then?!!! Or was his head so far up his own arse that he never actually heard those songs when they recorded them?
They knew their first album sounded baggy and they admitted that they hated it and purposefully changed their sound afterwards so damons not being hypocritical by criticising Oasis for it.
It shows a lack of vision in their career, just desperately trying to stay in the limelight for as long as possible without really having anything new/interesting to say, they don't have a "sound". All they have is FAME. They have nothing to contribute to the music world other than their NAME-simply because those pretty boys were covered by the music press and gossip at some point during the 90s. After their pop hits dried up, their remaining output would be dull, uninspired, and embarrassing.
Justine Frischmann - a scion of the unspeakably privileged London upper-middle-classes who viewed her foray into popular rock music as a kind of jolly distraction from art school, a weekend safari among the benighted masses. Made a couple of forgettable records and attached herself to a few infinitely more talented and popular individuals (in direct proportion to how popular they were at any given point in time, of course). In the end, though, she grew up, came to her senses, left the plebs and their noise behind, and secured her social status by marrying an eminent climate scientist. That's showbiz!
Yeah... Cigs and Alcohol is rubbish? I think she's jealous as fuck by the fact that this Single probably sold more than any album by Elastica! But anyway, most people only recognizes her for being Damon Albarn's ex girlfriend, so... who cares?!
+Fernando Andrade I think you are right, she is just jealous and that's why she hates a particular song that she hates, by the same logic you are just jealous that she sold more than you and that's why you don't like her music. And I'm sorry but I don't even recognise your boyfriend. I do care though, so that's one person at least.

This is just my opinion though, you dont have to take it so seriously, or take it.... But keep me out of the endless internet discussion that leave us nowhere!
i can reasure you that neither Justine Frischmann nor her band, Elastica had anything to be jealous of!!!! They were the Britpop band that DID succeed to break America!!! They were number one around 1995 , and they held the record of fastest selling album for over a decade!!!!! Justine alone, is way smarter than both the Gallagher brothers, whose work i really like though!!!! She proved , both by her actions and her words, that her opinion about them, was clearly coming from a place of freedom of speech as well as a deep knowledge around music!!!!! Musical taste and capability to express it , is a sign of wit spirit , and Justine has planty of this!!! Finally, as far as I am concerned, Damon Albarn was deeply influenced musically by Justine! His records are a live proof of my saying!!!!!!! Justine Frischmann ' s musical legacy and art work would might have been the same , with or without Damon, but i doubt if the opposite would have been the case!!!!

The no guitar solo rule is lame.
Nice ,she must have been a CIA agent, infiltrating these bands. lol
How on earth could Damon Albarn have the nerve to call Cigarettes & Alcohol "baggy"?? I suppose There's No Other Way or Bang don't sound baggy at all then?!!! Or was his head so far up his own arse that he never actually heard those songs when they recorded them?
They knew their first album sounded baggy and they admitted that they hated it and purposefully changed their sound afterwards so damons not being hypocritical by criticising Oasis for it.
he didn't say that, she did, he just said it was shit which is very vague
elastica sounds like the stereotypical britpop band...
Bullshit ! : )
They were awful
It shows a lack of vision in their career, just desperately trying to stay in the limelight for as long as possible without really having anything new/interesting to say, they don't have a "sound". All they have is FAME. They have nothing to contribute to the music world other than their NAME-simply because those pretty boys were covered by the music press and gossip at some point during the 90s. After their pop hits dried up, their remaining output would be dull, uninspired, and embarrassing.
Did you hear of Blur from "Smash Hits?"
Thought she od,d
Justine Frischmann - a scion of the unspeakably privileged London upper-middle-classes who viewed her foray into popular rock music as a kind of jolly distraction from art school, a weekend safari among the benighted masses. Made a couple of forgettable records and attached herself to a few infinitely more talented and popular individuals (in direct proportion to how popular they were at any given point in time, of course). In the end, though, she grew up, came to her senses, left the plebs and their noise behind, and secured her social status by marrying an eminent climate scientist. That's showbiz!
She stated that she left Brett Anderson to be with someone who matched her own ambitions in the music industry.
Shit
And your definition of artist is too broad.
David Winter The thing is... I do like her music! But in this interview, she seems to be a jealous fucker... Its in her eyes and her gestures!
Elastica are a band where the music hasn't aged well! It's total shit! But I quite liked them in the 90s...
Men Age Like Wine...
Women age like milk, sadly.
