It turned out to be easier than my first impression of thinking I needed to remove the PCB from the front panel. That might have been a bad one… other than missing the screws on the back of the power amp… that was a bit embarrassing… overall the trophy goes to the Hakko!

I hope the main tuning sensor unit comes back to life soon! I also saw that ugly battery back-up cell in there… progress is fun anyway.
That would make a nice pota or field day radio.
And the bumps and scratches would fit right in. the Op might need to bring a car battery along… not sure what it draws on receive.
