By the other hand, it’s also a good
opportunity to exercise the memory, because with the effort it is much more
difficult to work with these areas of the brain. At least that's what I've been
experiencing during these years.
Running by the mountains helps to improve
your psychomotor skills… and you see it: you have to be aware of the path, the stones and the relief of the ground. It's not that you should be thinking about how to put your foot on the ground the next step but rather that the "sensors”, (senses of your body) used by your psychomotor system, that’s to say, the sight (the eyes mainly) but also the hearing; you have to put them at its disposal ... If you are seeing the landscape instead to look at the ground, this complex system stops to receive the information and doesn’t modified
the positioning of your musculoskeletal system in the next step and you can stumble on a stone or a hole. You also learn to control your center of gravity with your body, mainly with your arms; that’s important into the slopes and bends and when you run along a path with “a cliff“ in one side. That doesn’t happen running through the streets because the ground is uniform and you look at it less frequently; on the mountain is quite different. The proof of what I’m saying is clear: when you go down unconsciously from a sidewalk that you didn’t expect or when one stair has different height than the others. The shake that you feel in your spine is due to the fact that your body hasn’t been able to perceive that and it has positioned muscles and bones as if you were still going through a flat ground or lowered a stair like the others or maybe you fall down because your center of gravity has left the sustenance zone for the same reason.
