I own a Birkin 35, a Kelly 28, Evelyne GM & tpm, I think the Margaux is equal quality, the leather is impeccable. I’m considering selling my Kelly to a friend and getting the Margaux. I think the row is on to something. I love their overall aesthetic. I’ve personally not ever had issues getting something from the Hermes boutique, I have a great SA. But I think the accessibility of the Row is more compatible with the younger demographic, they don’t want to go to a lot of trouble when they’re already paying an exorbitant price. I think things are changing in luxury and I’m here for it. While Hermes has my heart I really don’t find anything else from them that I long for, so I’m enjoying these alternative brands.
During my most recent travels, I came across the Margaux in a smooth brown saddle-leather - it was one of the most sumptious leathers I've felt in a long while. It truly felt extremely luxurious; if I could, I would sleep in it. Probably prone to scratches and/or dents, but I can imagine it attaining a beautiful patina after years of handling. Not sure it warrants the price, but I was pleasantly shocked at the hand-feel. Style-wise; very versatile and understated.
I will never understand people spending 4-5 figures on a bag. Idc about the brand or heritage. People buy expensive bags and act as if it came from a magical unicorn. No matter how you slice it and dice it all your paying for is a name and that’s the truth…
Oh I want the Ferragamo Hug medium bag!! I would get it over the Row. The Row’s Margaux bag is quite lovely however, nothing is better than the craftsmanship and history of Hermes. I am sure the Row will continue garnering interest however, Hermes will always be number one😅 You looked so pretty❤ The lip color was perfect 😊😊
Honestly, the bag is timeless like pretty much all of The Row's pieces (since they sell wardrobe basics/staples). I think if you're looking to buy the bag because you're trend conscious and/or want to resell luxury brand items at a profit, this isn't the bag for you. However, if The Row's aesthetic fits your style and you want a good bag to lug your stuff around for the next 30-40 years, you've found your match!
The Row Bag is gorgeous but yes you are correct, you can buy a less expensive bag for this trend. I find your content very interesting. Thanks for giving us your perspective. 😊
The Margaux looks amazing, and it is undoubtedly the new IT bag… but honestly, at that price point, I would rather purchase a Bolide (there are really good deals in the pre-loved market) with the certainty that the quality will be the best I can find in the market. Just my personal opinion of course ❤️. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, love your videos!
I own the Margaux 10 in Dk taupe. I bought it to go with a pair of Chypre sandels. I wanted a small lightweight everyday bag and it fits that bill to a tee 😍 I love it! I want a larger slouchier one now. Btw, mine came with a shoulder strap that's removable.
The Row bag is very well-designed because there's no fuss with gaining access, unlike the Birkin or the Kelly. It's so streamlined and exactly what people are clamouring for. They don't want any nonsense. I don't like the Ferragamo Hug bag, it just looks slapped together visually it's awful. The new LV dome shaped bag with the internal twist is also good design because you can rapidly close it, whereas you cant easily close a zip on a dome shaped bag you need two hands to do that...so that internal closure is for when you're super busy and can;t be bothered with any fuss.
I can see why people are comparing it to Hermès it definitely looks like a slouchy bolide. From what I’ve seen of the rows quality, it’s good but nowhere near Hermès.
The Row has excellent quality; far beyond what we've been seeing from LV and Chanel and the prices are better. That being said, Hermes is in a league of it's own. Also, if understated is someone's style, they could shop Loro Piana and get a bag with quality that is better than The Row and it's price points are slightly below what The Row is offering.
I have a few bags from The Row and have been impressed with the quality, which absolutely exceeds anything from LV or Chanel. I am a big fan of the aesthetic, but do struggle with the price point. The Margaux 15 is on my wish list, but I saw a Loro Piana Sesia in store last week and was stunned at how beautiful this bag is. It has a very similar look and function.
I love your bolide! I got the Margaux bag in size 10 and retuned it. It was too bulky carrying crossbody and the color muschio washed me out. If I can get my hands on a bolide I would choose that over the Row. I may try the row again in a different color and size.
I own both and I find the Row’s smooth calfskins and lambskin a to be far more luxurious that Hermes. And their suedes are next level, feels less suede-like and much more like traditional leather
I think the Margaux is beautiful, but from a utilitarian POV I much prefer the big relaxed Bolide. It's just as beautiful as the Margaux, sits flatter against the body, and I like that (unlike the Margaux) it zips up.
I love this video-you helped inspire me to do my own! I mentioned you in the new video up on my channel, as well as in my “busted Birkin” video. 😉 Love your content and work ethic, Jess! 🧡🙌🏻
I have the Margaux 15 and 3 other Row bags love them. The quality is amazing. Also have several Hermes bags I would say the quality probably is better. 😊
Have never heard of this brand nor style before. Thanks for sharing ❤ Aren't Hermes bags handstitched by a single artisan who has trained for years making SLGs first. I doubt the Row has the same time of craftmanship. Nonetheless I love learning about new bags 🤩
So I watched a Japanese video of The Row store (from 2020) and the The Row sales assistant said the Margaux is handcrafted by 2 artisans over 4 days!! Not sure if this is still the case. The Margaux has been popular in Japan from a few years ago and still is. 😊
I wanted to add a bag that nobody is talking about. The Dior Cannage who has the same shape , an interior pocket that holds a lot and is leather inside and outside. I think it's discontinued but I have the vintage one and I love it.
They look beautifully made, however I’m hesitant to invest in a bag without any heritage. The history is part of the magic of the halo brands, and part of why they can command such steep prices. I personally enjoy the history as much as the purse, so it’s a no from me 😊 Edit: living for the Britney tee 🥰🥰
I have three Birkins (Togo, Barenia, chèvre de coromandel) and two Margaux (pebbled and saddle). There is a streamlined ease with the Margaux that cannot be overstated or overlooked. Carrying them is a complete joy. The 15 is my preference, and the pebbled leather is sublime. I think we are about to watch the Margaux explode onto the scene.
I like the roe Margaux in black on eBay at the moment. Slouchy leather, nice, looks functional/but will be heavy. Fine for a husband to carry with;stuff in it. I don’t like the bullide at all
So here’s my take just about two years ago I completely transform my entire wardrobe to the row and let me back it up saying that I’ve always had a love for quality and tailoring but also not for tight clothes, trendy clothes, I prefer classic, elegant lines, impeccable, quality of wool that drapes fluidity the six downs also into the margaux, but the mindset is this to me, The Row that label is somebody who wants to get off the trendy train to be confident in their own style choices and what they wear they don’t need one single label that’s why it’s such a small branding because it’s not about the label it’s about the person wearing the clothes which to me is the ultimate regardless of what the price tag is is knowing that you are wearing the outfit in the outfit is not wearing you your confidence doesn’t come from the label But the way you put the outfit together The Row does this effortlessly every single piece in their wardrobe collection can be swapped out and worn together. The margaux is understated. The only reason why and I have loved Kelly bags forever, but the only reason I would never buy one is because they’re over saturated and worn by people who have no sense of style That put these beautiful bags together with horrible trendy clothes 4 1/2 inch spike heels in the middle of the day which to me is just a fashion disaster. If you looked back to the Kelley’s worn by Grace Kelly in her outfit it was classic elegance, which to me as what the Row Harkins to classic elegance.
Hi Jess! Your video made me wonder, what is LV creating for Alma bags these days... so I checked. I was shocked at the variety of Almas! 😂 From tiny to large... some bizarre options, and some BBs that are very overpriced (IMHO). Potential video fodder!
Hi Jess I was tempted to get the Margaux in the smaller sizes but I didn’t like the stitching around the top curves that were concaving in - I feel like over time the round corners will curve inwards. The leather on some of their bags is nice but over all I don’t like the base as all the bases are very bulgy and the bag is not secure with a very wide base and an open top (no zip etc). Anyways for this reason I’ve ordered and returned many in the end .
I own that ferragamo bag in black & red interior and i loveeee that bag! Just sayin’ haha. It has such good quality and the leather is so beautiful. I wish more people would talk abt ferragamo bags, they’re george!
The Row is too minimalist. There's a difference between timeless asthetic and minimalism borne from laziness. The Row bags just seem a bit lazy, like they're out of ideas. Hermes and Loro Piana always have some eye catching detail that separates it from the crowd. The Row bags don't really.
I just can't get on board with a bag that has only been around in what's considered a blink of an eye when compared to Hermes, which was founded in 1837. Yes, I'm an Hermes snob.
Let’s not compare Margaux to a birkin . Margaux bags appear to be very practical in terms of design and attainability. They are high in quality & they are bought genuinely for use and not for showing off and brags unlike the birkins & kellys 😂😂
I feel like even people who can access Hermes might still like this because of the novelty of a newer brand doing a similar offering and unlike many other dupes, The Row has a similar market (in terms of style) and it does have prestige
I see the xl bags being popular and I’m like….. isn’t that too heavy? Like it’s gonna be heavy before you even put your stuff in it. Mind you if I had one I would use it for grocery shopping and a handbag at the same time 😂. Might as well use a big bag for coles and Woolies and iga since these supermarkets are becoming luxury stores with the way they are pricing essentials 😂
Hmm I am never spending so much on The Row bags. They feel like Celine, Loewe, to me. So ex yet not there. Too overpriced. I would compare Moynat, Delvaux to Hermes instead
Cause the bag is quite big, u can stuff a lot in it and it will get quite heavy just holding the bag ( the row margo/ hermes bollide) as a top handle or on the crook of the arm dont you think?! How is that practical?? 🤔😆
Margaux bag the next Birkin? Nah, I don't see that happening. The Birkin is a Hermes. Not some niche bag designed by a couple of twin from a niche company. The Birkin is the most iconic bag in fashion. The design is classy, but it can also be causal. Sure, the Birkin is mad expensive but its a solid investment piece that will be around for ages. Will be The Row be around in 10 years? The jury is out on that.
I love the look but not at that price point. From what I've seen their quality is good, but the price is not justified, since we are paying for the brand name, history and the allure it carries. The name can even outweighs quality issues *ahem* Chanel *ahem*
BirKin is not just a bag, it’s and art and incomparable craftsmanship. Put BirKin and the Row bag in the preloved market and you will see the huge difference.
Places like The Row and Victoria Beckham come in with prices that rival old luxury Houses when they have no history, no tale to tell, things I feel I’m paying for when I buy luxury. I’m buying into that history, that story telling, being able to buy from a store my great Grandmother could’ve bought from. The Row, VB and now Phoebe Philo have some beautiful things but their prices are way off the mark. A 3rd of the price needs to come off Margaux before I’ll consider it. It’s like new brands are here for a quick buck rather than longevity, no legacy is being built. Beautiful things, overpriced.

Agree. I recently picked up a Relax Bolide 35 from rebag and its amazing. For less then half what the Row bags are selling for.
thanks! I feel the same as you!
Hi, loving the Ferragamo hug bag. It is gorgeous
i like it too! thanks!
OOo very nice Debra! good to know your recommend it!
I think the Delvaux L'XXL and Tempête is more likely to compete with Hermes, especially as the brand is older than Hermes.
hmmm yes!! Delvaux has some gorgeous bags!
The Row bag is very well-designed because there's no fuss with gaining access, unlike the Birkin or the Kelly.

The Row is the same as a Mango bag that was made with care. Tbh The Row has nice designs but definitely overpriced
I own both Hermes and Row bags. The quality of Hermes' bags are way beyond that of The Row.
I own both and I find the Row’s smooth calfskins and lambskin a to be far more luxurious that Hermes. And their suedes are next level, feels less suede-like and much more like traditional leather

I love the Margaux bag. You don’t have to have Hermes only. I have a Margaux 10.
ooo very nice!
I have the Margaux 15 and 3 other Row bags love them. The quality is amazing. Also have several Hermes bags I would say the quality probably is better. 😊
Would you please clarify... is Hermes or The Row better quality? Thank you 🙂
Good to know! I have to suss the row out more!!

hahah thanks Mel!!! Yes that could be a good video topic...how story telling and history adds value to a bag!
I have three Birkins (Togo, Barenia, chèvre de coromandel) and two Margaux (pebbled and saddle).

wow good to know!!! thanks for sharing Robyn!! 🌸
I am trying to decide between smooth and pebbled. Can you share more about your experience with the both leather types?
How do you have the Margaux pebble leather when compared to Hermes?
The row India bag is on my top 3 wish list bag
oooo nice!!
I like the roe Margaux in black on eBay at the moment. Slouchy leather, nice, looks functional/but will be heavy. Fine for a husband to carry with;stuff in it. I don’t like the bullide at all
Nope I’m passing on the Margaux bag. Too expensive, less history. I’m not into trends. Its shape is not my style, too wide.
I'm Not a Row gal...if im spending 8-10k on a handbag it will be chanel, hermes or Special fendi or LV 😊

wow!! yes i know what you mean about the curve at the top! what a shame! I am very curious by this bag but I'm too hypnotised by hermes to sway!
I own that ferragamo bag in black & red interior and i loveeee that bag! Just sayin’ haha. It has such good quality and the leather is so beautiful. I wish more people would talk abt ferragamo bags, they’re george!

true!!
I love the Row bags. Never owned one but love the look. The price however oaf…can’t do it.
At that price I’m not sure why anyone would choose it over a similar - non-quota! - bolide bag from Hermes.
I love your Britney shirt!
thanks Kate!
M-K&A have carried their fare share of Birkins! 😂
So I have an inspired bag like this it's very cool 😎
I see the xl bags being popular and I’m like….. isn’t that too heavy? Like it’s gonna be heavy before you even put your stuff in it. Hmm I am never spending so much on The Row bags. They feel like Celine, Loewe, to me. So ex yet not there. Too overpriced. I would compare Moynat, Delvaux to Hermes instead
The Row is so much better priced and far fewer people have it so it is definitely cooler
Cause the bag is quite big, u can stuff a lot in it and it will get quite heavy just holding the bag ( the row margo/ hermes bollide) as a top handle or on the crook of the arm dont you think?! How is that practical?? 🤔😆
Mine came with a shoulder strap that's removable if that makes a difference for u. The Margaux is surprisingly lightweight as well.
It bags come and go. I am tired of following this trends. It’s not the new birkin . 😂 hermes has a long history and the row started yesterday
Not worth that sort of money...but then neither is the Birkin
Two things turned me off about this bag 1. Glazing 2. Not leather lined ! So I guess I will pass 😅
All the reviews I've seen online say these bags are HEAVY😢
perhaps it depends on the leather on size combo!! interesting
The Row won’t never be the next Hermes. The quality isn’t the same. Not worth it!
Jess have you heard that rodeos are now discontinued!!!
really!?!?! where did you hear that!💀
Bag🎉❤🎉s
Hope you’re doing ok. I haven’t heard from you today. You deserve a day off. I just thought I would let you know I miss you.
hi nubby!!
Looks just ok but I don’t think I would spend that kind of money on Mary Kay & Ashley design-just saying.
Not to sound rude, but your comment kind of comes off as though you're buying bags from certain fashion houses because of the brand's prestige and not the actual quality of the bags being sold. It's just jarring to see someone reference brands like Victoria Beckham, Phoebe Philo, and The Row who make beautiful, high-quality merchandise that you'll be able to pass down to your children and claim that they're trying to "make a quick buck." I would actually say that we've seen that type of behavior from some of the heritage brands lately; coasting on their name while declining in quality.
Great quality but so boring.
I only love the Birkin in certain colors 😑
Not a fan of the Row bags
I think that this bag is ugly. It’s too big and bulky. It almost reminds me of a weekender.
Tried to watch this but couldn't due to the sound quality as the pitch of your voice made it seem like you were 'screeching' at very high pitch which sounded like long acrylic nails going down a blackboard. Please look at your audio settings if possible to adjust sound quality to remove the 'screeching' aspect of your voice as frankly you are imo unwatchable even at low volume or different speeds. Sad and I hope you can fix things as the topic was somewhat interesting.
No it’s not worth it😅😂😂
agree😂
It’s a wanna be bag
