    I had been searching for weeks if not months for something that would help my heel pain/ achilles strains after returning from injuries sustained at work and trying to regain fitness. Nothing was working til I found your videos. Intense pain in all my fascia in my legs. Some much more intense than others! but only after a few days of working with the roller/ball/rolling pin etc etc its proving very effective!. Thank you so much.....nothing else has worked.

    Awesome thanks I got a foam roller but decided to use a basket ball 🏀 to do what your showing it feels good.

    relax my leg while it's screaming in pain...now that's a challenge! This one has really helped me. Like Emmit Duff, I've been lazy and not foam rolled for a long time.     This is crazy intense! I noticed an increase in intensity when I relaxed my leg! I found bad hard stuff around my knee. Will be doing this everyday for sure. Thanks.

      YES - when you relax, it tends to get more intense. But it's a truer marker of what's in there, and if you can stay relaxed it'll get healthier much faster than if you're bracing against this technique.

    No question, this is your best video yet! The clunks are satisfying, aren't they? Before I found your channel and website, I thought the weird popping sensation (clunks) were bad and I'd stop rolling on them. Now I look for them and do a little giggle (or would if my IT band/quads weren't so painful).

      Ha, everyone clunks! Even healthy fascia clunks a little, but when it's healthy it won't HURT to be compressed.

      I think it is worse if it is just tight and not clunking at all though. At least with the clunks you feel like you are making progress pretty well (and getting something done finally.)

    Just watch a couple of your videos yesterday. Wow what a relief so far! If got most the pain you speech of. Thank you. Been in pain seen fire college and can’t seem to get rid of it for good. I’m going to keep look through your videos. On another note, what kind of foam roller to you recommend and or other equipment for best results?

      That roller she is using supports a really nice indie craftsman type company. I will see if I can find the link, since I want to order one also. She also recommnended the lacrosse balls for a long time, not sure if she still does, but I do use mine a lot. A lot of times it is great to improvise with what is at home, since as one progresses, they need harder rollers etc, but you might find results with something softer (like maybe a filled gallon water container at first etc.)

    This was great, thank you! I've heard that foam rolling is just crushing muscle and not necessarily gliding or moving or smoothing the fascia. How can we tell if we're doing this the right way and releasing the tightness of fascia?

      I have thought the same, for my entire journey through severe disability and the long road to recovery. I've never found any forceful or painful treatment to be actually helpful.
      Until this.
      The voluntary fascia release technique seems to be something totally different. I believe the primary thing is that we find the spot, then use voluntary local movement as the action, rather than just rolling up and down on a static spot, using muscles to move that are far away from the roller/ball point.
      The way to tell I think is if you feel any better over the following few days.

      Yes this is a shearing motion, pinning the muscle to bone or progressively to each successively deeper layer, then calling for movement that allows the layers of fascia to slide past one another!

    I need serious help with my fascia. It must be that since I know I have arthritis and degenerative discs but why oh why is my hip knee and other areas so painful and tight. Bingo a light went off while watching these videos. It has to be my fascia. I’m looking for a myofascial massage therapist near me

    Thanks so much for all your videos! They’ve been really helpful! Can I work around an inter muscular lipoma using this technique? It’s right in the front of my thigh. I’ve had sciatica/disc issues for the last seven months and I’ve been wondering if adhesions around a lipoma could be to blame.

      For (hopefully) obvious reasons, I can't give medical advice. So please use your own best judgment about working around the lipoma. For what it's worth, I have a lipoma on my back, and have never had an issue doing fascia release around it.

      @@cynthiacramer5879 - I definitely recommend against soft rollers for my version of fascia release (just because it's extremely difficult to compress fascia with something that's too soft). AND, I recommend avoiding the knobby/grooved or super hard rollers like PVC pipes. I LOVE the roller I use, but it's handmade and therefore more expensive than people are used to (most roam rollers are made of plastic and thus very cheap). Mine is called Om Roller (formerly Lana Roller), and it is made of a hollow mango wood core on the inside, covered in non-toxic latex with a hand woven cotton cover.       @@cynthiacramer5879 - if the soft roller is all you've been used to, it could just be nothing to compare it to? Depending on how soft the roller is, you could get SOME compression, but not as much as with something a little more dense. The reason I love the Om Roller is because it does have some give (like human soft tissue wrapped around bone, aka someone working on your body), but it's not as soft as the soft rollers.

      It's really individual. There should be a link in the description box here for my "Beginner's Guide to Fascia Release." It answers the basic questions when you're just starting out. The primary rule is don't get sore, and you can do as much as you want. If you do get sore it's not the end of the world, but it usually indicates the body was fighting back so maybe back off the intensity.

    In terms of the shadow banend thing. It's been 2y now so things may have changed in terms of our understanding. I don't think a channel like this would necessarily be shadow banned. You're not saying anything that's harmful to "the system". Probably it's just bugs in YouTub's algo. But I don't know.

    I am in optimization though still do have some inner heel pain. Anyway I have been doing your techniques for a year maybe 2, and want to say that I feel I understand them l so well that I already figured this one out and have been doing it!! I just 'listened' to my body what was still tight and this area was speaking out it needed release. Would you say this is similar to the technique in your video where you do have someone step on you?? Sorry don't remember which one, but you lay down and they step on your thigh, getting that it band and quad area, also super intense!!!

      Awesome! LOVE this! I'm always so happy when I hear that people are improvising and listening to their own body and making all of this YOUR OWN. And YES, this is like that Kinetix video. However, Kinetix is far more effective at actually "shearing" the adhesions, since there's a big difference between compressing tissue from above (like a foot stepping on the IT Band), vs pressing the IT Band into the foam roller (which tends to SQUISH the adhesion and not allow for much shearing).

      @@ElishaCeleste yay! I just did it again and will say i was willing to go a little deeper, knowing it's a solid 'elicia recommendation!' especially with the IT band being that tricky area. Yes, definitely works best RELAXED and SLOW! I picked that up from the Kinetix video, that just tightening then relaxing the compressed area can help, in addition to rotating your limb, etc.

      Well, for one thing I interviewed one of the most banned people in 2020 (Dr Andrew Kaufman). But aside from that, natural health blogs and RUclips channels are routinely being shadow banned or completely censored by Google (which owns RUclips).

I am assuming they are trying to avoid the spread of misinformation, and that this is even more important right now, but they need to screen the actual material if that is the goal, not just ban everyone. 😡

      @@briannerebecca944 - that is the supposed goal, however my personal opinion is that "misinformation" is highly subjective and dependent on personal beliefs. We should all be allowed to explore a diversity of opinions, thoughts, theories etc and then make our own minds up. The interview with Dr. Kaufman is still on my channel, primarily because I didn't ask him the typical questions that got him banned. It was more personal.
