I rescued a Chajuajua/Yorkie mix from the pound, they had placed him with a family who had several small kids who terrorized him to the point that he hides under my couch most of the day, and never comes out when company stops by. he will not let me touch him unless we are on my bed which is sort of natural ground for him. He sleeps curled up behind my knees in the night until I have to turn over, then he comes back to that place. That is the only place where I can pet him but if I try to hold him he jumps off the bed and won't return for a few minutes. I have owned him for three years now and there has been not other trust with him then after the first time he got on the bed with me weeks after I bought him. I often think how tragic that people don't teach their kids to respect animals and let them treat them badly.😮💨

My pups story is similar although he loved the little kids but very reactive towards others and aggressive towards men. The world was not a safe place. With the help of friends and family we successfully socialized him. But it took years of slow progress.

To long and going to other dog story I didn’t see the point of it , bit to long getting there
