How could one set up a camera trap (meaning leaving an unattended camera in a nature setting and have motion-activated recording, as when a fox or whatever walks in front of the camera. Can this be done with a simple accessory?
The invisible selfie stick feature works in full 360 mode, not just in the "me" mode. As long as you use the invisible selfie stick, it will be hidden in the 360 shooting mode.
Question, I prefer using the camera w/ quick capture 'on'. when I hit QC to begin recording. The camera doesn't automatically default to the 4k 9:16 horizontal setting that I desire. I have a 'quick menu' RIDING saved and checked off. so it will record but appears to default to the 360 5k setting and won't automatically reorient to the horizontal either. do you know how to remedy this? Edit: In other words I want to use like a GoPro Session (I use my Hero 8 like this as well) Saves battery.

Great video. I'm looking for a camera to take 360 still photos for personal use and to upload to Google maps and Instagram. Almost all of my shots will be outdoors in varying light conditions. I'm also interested in 360 video, but its not a priority now. Is the Insta360 X3 a good choice for me? Can I upload to Google maps directly from from the camera?

does transferring the video from the camera to the app/phone cause quality issues? DJI drones for example are known for severely impacting resolution when doing this so most drone photographers/videographers need to transfer from the sd card on their pc/laptop to edit further. If insta360 solves this issue, that'd be great

Is there something special about airpods and x3 connectivity? Can I pair them with other earphones/headphones? I don't like airpods, they not comfortable and not that great. So the me mode is reduced to 1080? Wow why so low compared to 4k? I mean 2k I could understand. This makes me mode very low quality imo. Yes, X3 is capable of recording a full-court basketball game. You can set up the camera on the 114 invisible selfie stick and secure it atop the All-Purpose Tripod to capture the entire court. It is advisable to position the lens to face the court directly while shooting.

only thing i would not do is the bullet swing on the selfie stick as I'm sure that it would loosen / weaken the joints so down the line about the stick wont stay pulled out. nice video

I film in 5.7K, when I export on my phone, the highest resolution I can go is 1080p, in custom settings, you said it's 1440, how do I get the higher resolution? The only way I found to get the higher resolution is to do it on my computer. Also, what should the bit rate be to get the maximum clarity? I would like the bitrate to be the same number as it was filmed so there's no loss in quality.
Hi there! Sorry about any misunderstanding. The 5.7K is for the entire 360° sphere. The highest resolution of a 360° video will be 4K in the App and 5.7K in Insta360 Studio. For 16:9 flat video, the max native reframed resolution is 1080p by cutting out a piece of the 360° sphere. We really appreciate your understanding. Hello there, because the mobile phone's WiFi can only establish one connection at a time, when the mobile phone is connected to the camera WiFi, it cannot maintain the connection to the home WiFi at the same time.

Unfortunately, due to the limited affordance to display high frame rate video (e.g. above 30fps), footage shot with certain modes can not support in-camera playback. *** WARNING *** I've just bought an X3 and it is FANTASTIC, almost magical in what it can do. HOWEVER, the camera MUST be connected to the wi-fi function of Insta 360 application on a phone before it can be used. Frustratingly, I wasted several hours attempting to connect my camera to the Insta 360 application I'd downloaded to my Android phone and when that failed, an iPhone. Both phones were three or more years old and whilst the app downloaded onto them without a problem, neither was able to then connect to the camera's wi-fi function. As above, you cannot use the X3 until this initial wi-fi connection is achieved. Unfortunately, a fair bit of my wasted time was spent conversing with the Insta360 Help Desk who wasn't able to resolve the issue. In the end though, I came up with the following simple fix - I borrowed a friend's late model iPhone and connected to the camera's wi-fi using that. If only I'd known a late model phone was needed, or the Help Desk had known that, in the first place!! Once that initial connection is made, you don't need to use the Insta 360 application again and you can easily update the camera's firmware via a USB connection to the SD card. Notwithstanding I can't use the app on my phone to view, edit, etc, my intention is to always use the Insta360 Studio on my laptop. (14:23) And thanks to the creator for this excellent video!!!

@@Insta360_Tutorials sorry but that makes a camera useless for recording long events as you will never know what you will be missing. There has to be a way to work around this to make it seamless. How are you ok with this? I know that my use case is very specific (recording concerts in 360) but others need that as well and other 360 cameras are capable of recording seamlessly with data rates and resolutions equivalent to your cameras. Can't you come up with a long recording mode where the footage doesn't have to be chopped up into several files? Can't you use some cache memory to buffer those 15s that the camera needs to start a new file? I bought two of your cameras in the past, a one r and a one x2, and had to return them because they had this issue. On top of that, nowhere in the manuals do you mention this so I totally botched a recording of a concert because of this... please work on this problem and I will purchase and recomend your cameras to everyone, for sure!
I've had the one X since it came out and love it. Still haven't damaged the lens! So, I often walk with it in forests. Once I frame the 360 to 1080p, the details that I see on trees isn't as good as I'd like (I've been a forester for 50 years) - pretty good but not good enough. I had been thinking of springing for a dedicated 4K camera then I heard about the X3 which can use a single lens at 4K. What I'd like to know is- will the detail with the single lens at 4K be much better than framing a 5.7K 360 to 1080p? And, with single lens- how will it work with the selfie stick because the camera will need to be vertical. I've seen people put smart phones on selfie sticks and they can adjust the camera so it will be vertical. I suppose I could hold it straight up or down or sideways but that's inconvenient. Or, use it on a chest or head mount.
Hi Joseph, thanks for your interest! Yes, the image quality of the 4K single lens mode will be better than that of a 1080P reframed video cropped from the 5.7K 360 mode. Regarding the second question, unfortunately, the angle might not be easily adjustable on the Insta360 selfie stick. You can also try the Me Mode if you want to be in the frame. OK anyone - HELP. First I am going to be contacting Insta360 support next week (Monday) and ask what ways can I activate this camera. I would like to get this camera, but I am not going to buy another mobile phone just for use of this camera. I have a Motorola G Pure Android phone with latest version 12 android update software just installed today. I do not have the X3 camera at this time. My phone tells me that the Insta360 app is not compatible with my phone and I say WHY???? I had to download the Insta360 app from their website since it did not show up in Google Play app area. Be nice if I could activate it on my PC laptop, but that probably wouldn't work either. So anybody have any ideas how activate this Insta360 X3 camera other than a mobile phone???? This is ridiculous how they make this camera initially operate. So, What Android phones do work with this camera????? Not that i am going to buy another one. I am definitely not buying an expensive IPhone.

Hi there! You can try to directly charge and use X3 without the battery. Please make sure the power supply to be 5V3A. I hope this info can help.

Great video, thank you. I bought X3 two days ago and your video was a good help. One thing I would change in X3 is to get rid of airpods icon. Is there something special about airpods and x3 connectivity? Can I pair them with other earphones/headphones? I don't like airpods, they not comfortable and not that great. I prefer using proper earphones/headphones like Sony or Bose.

only thing i would not do is the bullet swing on the selfie stick as I'm sure that it would loosen / weaken the joints so down the line about the stick wont stay pulled out. nice video

I film in 5.7K, when I export on my phone, the highest resolution I can go is 1080p, in custom settings, you said it's 1440, how do I get the higher resolution? The only way I found to get the higher resolution is to do it on my computer. Also, what should the bit rate be to get the maximum clarity? I would like the bitrate to be the same number as it was filmed so there's no loss in quality.
Hi there! Sorry about any misunderstanding. The 5.7K is for the entire 360° sphere. The highest resolution of a 360° video will be 4K in the App and 5.7K in Insta360 Studio. For 16:9 flat video, the max native reframed resolution is 1080p by cutting out a piece of the 360° sphere. We really appreciate your understanding. Regarding the bitrate issue, we'll forward your feedback to the R&D team and attach importance to it. Hopefully there can be some improvements later.

Why do insta360 disconnect home WiFi before connecting to its WiFi?
Hello there, because the mobile phone's WiFi can only establish one connection at a time, when the mobile phone is connected to the camera WiFi, it cannot maintain the connection to the home WiFi at the same time.
I WANT but almost £500! my wife got me the Hero 4 black back when it was new and she did pay around the same price. I've rarely used that but I like the look of this and will make the effort to use it.... fairly sure I said the same about the Hero 4 black LOL

Unfortunately, due to the limited affordance to display high frame rate video (e.g. above 30fps), footage shot with certain modes can not support in-camera playback. Modes like time-lapse are also limited to in-camera playback. You may need to preview the footage via Insta360 App. We appreciate your understanding and support.

*** WARNING *** I've just bought an X3 and it is FANTASTIC, almost magical in what it can do.
HOWEVER, the camera MUST be connected to the wi-fi function of Insta 360 application on a phone before it can be used. Frustratingly, I wasted several hours attempting to connect my camera to the Insta 360 application I'd downloaded to my Android phone and when that failed, an iPhone. Both phones were three or more years old and whilst the app downloaded onto them without a problem, neither was able to then connect to the camera's wi-fi function. As above, you cannot use the X3 until this initial wi-fi connection is achieved. Unfortunately, a fair bit of my wasted time was spent conversing with the Insta360 Help Desk who wasn't able to resolve the issue. In the end though, I came up with the following simple fix - I borrowed a friend's late model iPhone and connected to the camera's wi-fi using that. If only I'd known a late model phone was needed, or the Help Desk had known that, in the first place!!
Once that initial connection is made, you don't need to use the Insta 360 application again and you can easily update the camera's firmware via a USB connection to the SD card. Notwithstanding I can't use the app on my phone to view, edit, etc, my intention is to always use the Insta360 Studio on my laptop. (14:23)

Can you turn off the display while recording?
Sure, you can click the power button to turn off the screen during recording. Also, you can set the time of Auto Sleep in the camera's settings.

Hi, there! Due to the optimization of file storage logic and storage stability improvement, the current firmware uses 29 minutes of segmentation for recording 5.7K 360 video, the camera will continue shooting automatically soon after segmentation storage.

@@Insta360_Tutorials sorry but that makes a camera useless for recording long events as you will never know what you will be missing. There has to be a way to work around this to make it seamless. How are you ok with this? I know that my use case is very specific (recording concerts in 360) but others need that as well and other 360 cameras are capable of recording seamlessly with data rates and resolutions equivalent to your cameras. Can't you come up with a long recording mode where the footage doesn't have to be chopped up into several files? Can't you use some cache memory to buffer those 15s that the camera needs to start a new file? I bought two of your cameras in the past, a one r and a one x2, and had to return them because they had this issue. On top of that, nowhere in the manuals do you mention this so I totally botched a recording of a concert because of this... please work on this problem and I will purchase and recomend your cameras to everyone, for sure!

I've had the one X since it came out and love it. Still haven't damaged the lens! So, I often walk with it in forests. Once I frame the 360 to 1080p, the details that I see on trees isn't as good as I'd like (I've been a forester for 50 years) - pretty good but not good enough. I had been thinking of springing for a dedicated 4K camera then I heard about the X3 which can use a single lens at 4K. What I'd like to know is- will the detail with the single lens at 4K be much better than framing a 5.7K 360 to 1080p? And, with single lens- how will it work with the selfie stick because the camera will need to be vertical. I've seen people put smart phones on selfie sticks and they can adjust the camera so it will be vertical. I suppose I could hold it straight up or down or sideways but that's inconvenient. Or, use it on a chest or head mount.
Hi Joseph, thanks for your interest! Yes, the image quality of the 4K single lens mode will be better than that of a 1080P reframed video cropped from the 5.7K 360 mode. Regarding the second question, unfortunately, the angle might not be easily adjustable on the Insta360 selfie stick. You can also try the Me Mode if you want to be in the frame. And yes, maybe some accessories can work better. Here I attach the link for you.

OK anyone - HELP. First I am going to be contacting Insta360 support next week (Monday) and ask what ways can I activate this camera. I would like to get this camera, but I am not going to buy another mobile phone just for use of this camera.
I have a Motorola G Pure Android phone with latest version 12 android update software just installed today. I do not have the X3 camera at this time. My phone tells me that the Insta360 app is not compatible with my phone and I say WHY????
I had to download the Insta360 app from their website since it did not show up in Google Play app area. Be nice if I could activate it on my PC laptop, but that probably wouldn't work either.
So anybody have any ideas how activate this Insta360 X3 camera other than a mobile phone???? This is ridiculous how they make this camera initially operate.
So, What Android phones do work with this camera????? Not that i am going to buy another one. I am definitely not buying an expensive IPhone.
