I can hear the begginings of "Magnificent" near the end of the jam session. If any of you ever hear the Aghtung Baby stolen tapes from their early Berlin sessions, you'll notice the similarity in the way U2 records their music. They do straight jams and eventually come up with song structures.
This videos are a jewel. The ALBUM is great. However I would have loved that they could play some random and rough material form these sessions on the album. It sounds awesome...
thefutureisahead, I totally agree with you!! It must take them hours to come up with songs that would later be so well known such as magnificent and unknown caller :). I love U2 can't wait for Anaheim :).
they actually mentioned it, they might do it this month in fact! its called u2- songs of ascent. they consider it more of an idea then something they would put in motion at the time being, but watch out for it!
okay, on this next album we need stuff like this... Really, we do... That intro to Magnificent would have been up there with one of the greatest things they'd ever released...
Yeah, true. They actually kept some of those notes If you listen to the finished version of Magnificent at the very beggining, the bass intro is the same riff.
I do not know why U2 is so amazed about Morocco's music but if they want a different influence they should come to India and experience the variety.. With AR rahman winning 2 oscars for soundtrack in Slumdog millionaire i hope Indian music will be more popular!
I do not care about the accusations as long as they are original and as long as they come to India.. Why dont they visit the world's largest democracy? which has 1.6 billion people..???
They should release a bonus CD with all this rare stuff, I´m so thrilled with the early version of Unknown Caller...such a beautiful song.
This video is great. I hope we get to see more of their recording sessions in Morocco.
This song will stay in our memories !!!

The unknown caller part is excellent. My favorite track along side with Cedars of Lebanon.

The music playing to this video is great. They should've included something like this in the new album.
The song winter is a great song.... It is in the Corbjin Film Linear...

@shackle5 yeah, is an amazing rough version
SOO cool
i like !!
super
thats why Rubin didn't work out as producer. he wanted them to come in ready with songs that he could rework.
yeah i completely agree
they did.. at around 1:40 it becomes obvious it's magnificent. and at 3:21 it's unknown caller
the edge
arguable whether or not india is a democracy???
what ever u might say! we have an election process and the head of state is elected so as far as teh definition goes ours is a democracy!
they'd be accused of copying the Beatles if they did that
dutch are the most taller standard in the world
