He missed the mark on the Chypre section though. There is WAY more to the Chypre family than just patchouli. I wish he would do an updated version of this video, I'm sure he's knowledge of fragrances has grown in 2024 now that he has his own brand of perfumes.
I've been working at a fragrance shop for a little over a month now and I myself have learned a thing or two. Will definitely use this on customers more often. Thank you for the help! :)
As a newbie, I fully expected you to be talking about the modern categories most talked about in RUclips reviewer videos, eg, Blue & Green, etc. I think it would be a great video topic to show how these classical fragrance categories interface with the ways that modern reviewers talk about fragrances, in today's parlance. Additionally, it would be helpful to learn exactly how these two sets of categories interfaces with the 5 situational categories you presented in another video, eg, Summer, Versatile, Clubbing, etc. Thank you for your excellent content.
1. Citruses : Short lasting but Fresh and sharp 2. Florals : Feminine | White florals(Neroli)< Darker< Rose | Ex - Toyboy 3. Fougere : Barbershop | Lavender & Oakmoss | Ex- Drakkar noir, Aqua de parma 4. Patchouli(Cyprus): Dark leafy note, a little sharp, tiny bit sweet and smells Mysterious| Ex - Encre Noire Extreme | Oakmoss & Labdanum are also used 5. Woody : Masculine & Powdery| Also Gives Longevity & Structure | Ex - Tom Ford Oud Wood 6. Leather : Not necessary but adds edge | Animalic and an acquired taste | Ex - Tom Ford Ombre leather 7. Orientals(Spicy): Sweet & Balsamic notes | Vanilla, Amber, Tonka, Myrrh and Benzoin | Ex - 1 Million(Date night) 8. Orientals(Gourmand) : Super Sweet, Rich and Edible | Usually Unisex | Ex - Montales Chocolate Greedy(60% Vanilla + 40% Chocolate) 9. Fruity : Bright fruits(Orange) < Dark fruits(Raspberry) | Usually found in Women’s Perfumes
I’ve finally subscribed because of your amazing content, you don’t only review perfumes but you teach the art of Fregrance, more of these videos please!!! P.S; do ‘How perfumes are made’ next
Hey. I just got into fragrances, and I was wondering if you had any recommendations? I bought Dylan blue as my first fragrance. Any suggestions? Love ur vids btw
Dolce & Gabanna The One EDP for dates, Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue Homme OG or Intense for summers, Mont Blanc Explorer for a cheap and versatile fragrance that smells like Creed Aventus (a very expensive fragrance) and maybe Bleu De Chanel for a slightly “classy” bit fresh fragrance. I know most of them are fresh and blue fragrances but as a beginner that’s a safe and good route to go. Also, don’t buy retail, use FragranceNet.com and you can buy more fragrances for less money.
Need recommendation... Fruity colognes, sweet and masculine: For 25 and under: Diesel, Fuel for Life For 25-35 years of age: Versace, Eros For over 35: ??? Looking for a masculine, sweet and fruity fragrance for mature men.
Great explanation! But I have a question about the fougère/aromatic category: are both the same thing, or is there a distinction between the two? Kind regards from the Netherlands
I'm very late to the party here but I wanted to thank you for what was a truly excellent breakdown. It was informative and also fun with the way you put it together with visuals as well as examples of colognes. Thanks.
Hi, 👋🏽 when you say Safe or unsafe fragrances/ notes what exactly do you mean by that? Care to explain please ? I’d really appreciate that. Thanks in advance.
Patchouli is fresh and green but you described it as associated with dark fragrances I don't think there is patchouli in a lot of fragrances because of it's freshness
Men i really love your videos and i love the fragrances but in my country Morocco the fragrances its so expansive i dont have anything any fragrance what your recommendation something cheap
That would be a family of its own, although not a traditional ones as a lot of these molecules are modern and created after this classification system!
When I get to the end of number four the video for some reason jumps back to the fougeres and starts, then jumps back again at the end of number four. It's so frustrating I just can't see the woods for the threes.
Cool! So can anyone give me a suggestions on finding a men's fragrance which convey's leather and cinnamon, but I also want to throw out the words smokey, and a log cabin nested in the forest:)
Bonus points for integrating Attack on Titan into the content!
Lol I love that he did that😂.
2 years later this is still the best intro to any fragrance video that I’ve seen

One of my favorite perfumers is Alberto Morillas. Everything he creates is just awesome
Finally, someone took the time to explain this topic! Thanks brother, well done. And, thanks for the example fragrances
By far one of THE BEST video Ive seen that is related to fragrance notes! Subscribed my man!
Super Bonus on the AOT Sir lol keep spreading the knowledge. You talk me into getting the dolce and gabbana light blue intense haha.
Good one Omar, I upload on the same day as you so that's 2 things I look forward to on Sunday's

Always happy to see the notification from your channel. Best fragrance reviewer! 👍
I’m just beginning and found this a very helpful overview. Thankyou !
This is such a great video. Thanks for this. I am applying to work in a fragrance shop and feel a lot more knowledgeable. God bless you man
Heck of a breakdown you’re appreciated in the Fragrance community sir.

Best fragrance youtuber.
SASAGEYO
Chanel Platinum Egoiste is my favorite Fougere
That AOT intro means that this right here is legit 🔥🔥🔥
Vanilla and tonka bean and aquatic notes are my favourite
Very well described !! Want to have more of such classes in near future 😉
Loved that Attack on Titan reference 😂❤️ Golden!
Always appreciate the anime references in the beginning 😌
Excellent intro, Lord Yeager is sure to be proud ! Ps: masr ohm el dounia
I LOVED this video - you took an educational point of view and made it fun through the pace and editing techniques. Very well blended vid.
Loved the vibes! 😅 Got to post more of these educational videos. 👌💯
I know very few comment on this, but DAMN, that’s a classy logo…
Very helpful vid bro 👊🏽👊🏽💯
Extremely educational! Thank you!
My number 1 date night fragrance was Gucci Pour Homme 1976.
I love your content ! Keep pushing bro
greetings from brazil 💛

@@Mac10Demarco thank you son much! I’ll check it out
I got Dylan Blue for a first as well lol, I’m pretty happy with it so far
Need recommendation...
Fruity colognes, sweet and masculine:

Great explanation! But I have a question about the fougère/aromatic category: are both the same thing, or is there a distinction between the two?
Kind regards from the Netherlands
Fougeres are aromatic but not all aromatics are Fougeres 😅
@ I read that EXACT explanation on a forum ;-). Thanks, though
Brilliant review as usual.
Great video! As usual, high quality info. Thank you
Where can I get a book on this topic? i want to read about different perfume styles, And the history of perfumery.
I'm very late to the party here but I wanted to thank you for what was a truly excellent breakdown. It was informative and also fun with the way you put it together with visuals as well as examples of colognes. Thanks.
Solid content and summary. Cheers
Hi, 👋🏽 when you say Safe or unsafe fragrances/ notes what exactly do you mean by that? Care to explain please ? I’d really appreciate that. Thanks in advance.
The AoT caught me off guard. Good touch
Thank you for this insight, I can now explain different scents to non fragrance forward individuals.
Yeah, this is one of the better channels.
So... When do you buy which? Maybe you can link these groups to the occasions from the predecessor video?
In my opinion the families are less about the occasion they can be worn and more about the type of ‘character’ that they give off.
Really helpful; what would one make of a spicy note which isn't sweet per se, like pepper or cloves or even tobacco.
I would love you to post more!!!
Patchouli is fresh and green but you described it as associated with dark fragrances I don't think there is patchouli in a lot of fragrances because of it's freshness
What does 'blue' actually means in perfumes?
a 'fresh out the shower' effect is given by the scent profile
Very informative, thanks Omar😄!
That SpongeBob fragrantica example
Made me laugh hahaha
Where will a tabaco fragrance would fall like Tobaccolor o Tobacco Vanille, oriental?
Very Well Done..... for fragrance connoisseurs
So what is armani the code considered😊
I'm also curious about this! Particularly because the recent EDT an EDP versions seem to lean in a bit of a different direction than the Parfum.
Should each perfume belong to just one category or family?
Or does it usually belong to several fragrance categories?
You are a good teacher
Came for the fragrance education, stayed for the AoT references
Thank you for the great video. It was very informative.
I'm looking for a good pine tree scent cant seem to find one
Good one mate but you forgot gourmand and oriental types.
You didn’t watch the full video 😕
As Italian I feel obligated to explain Moschino spelling: the right way to pronounce it is something like "Mos key no" 😎
Would you please review Chanel Egoiste and maybe compare it with Platinium Egoiste ?
Will do at some point, still need to acquire Egoiste but they don’t smell that similar
What is a better alternative for ‘police - to be or not to be’?
Men i really love your videos and i love the fragrances but in my country Morocco the fragrances its so expansive i dont have anything any fragrance what your recommendation something cheap
How do u explain blue aquatic vs green fragrances
Excellent topic👌🏻
Isn’t the Lalique Encre Noir A L’extreme counting to the woody family?
Absolutely, but it’s difficult to find examples for the Chypre family haha
How about Marine type scents? Like marine, sea salt, seaweeds, etc?
That would be a family of its own, although not a traditional ones as a lot of these molecules are modern and created after this classification system!
When I get to the end of number four the video for some reason jumps back to the fougeres and starts, then jumps back again at the end of number four. It's so frustrating I just can't see the woods for the threes.
Who is the fragrance that should be the attacking titan ? Maybe Dior sauvage because it is harsh 🤣
Citrus is my absolute favorite
Good stuff teach
What about sea notes / aquatic ?
Subscibed because of the AOT referrences. XD
Cool! So can anyone give me a suggestions on finding a men's fragrance which convey's leather and cinnamon, but I also want to throw out the words smokey, and a log cabin nested in the forest:)
Can you please do a review on Cartier Déclaration parfum
Review on Jimmy Choo Man Intense?
The link to the atrium group doesn’t work
Wouldnt a gourmand be in there somewhere ?
It could be included as a bonus, it isn’t traditionally seen as one of the original 7 that perfumers use
What do you think of stronger with you?
Discussed in the top 10 date video 😊
The text you use in your thumbnail makes it look like a video ad.
Great content though!
wait, what category would valentino uomo intense fall in? it's leathery, but not the masculine, animalic type of leather.
A bit tricky but maybe floral due to the intense iris
Great vid, thanks
I just learnt a lot
I didnt expect AoT on any fragrance video ever 😂😂😂
Helpful video
Peace & Prosperity
Nice content.
Thanks!
@@SchoolOfScent there’s a video of you saying the n word trending on tik tok bro 😔
Great Vid👌
