Slo-Mo Ice over the Cedar Rapids Iowa roller dam

I was at the roller dam to photograph eagles, but saw a big slab of ice coming down the Cedar River. It is oddly fascinating (calming?) to watch the ice as it breaks up as it rolls over the dam in slow motion!

Did that cause any damage to the river banks?

No damage. It was a relatively small slab that broke loose. It will be more interesting in the spring when the whole river's ice breaks up!
