    Purchased a 10" Wahuda jointer a few months ago and I've been extremely happy with it thus far. I also added some support brackets for the fence that I purchased from Cutech to provide much better support for the fence on the outside edges. Cutech part number 80400 worked perfectly.

    *Love the size and weight of this little jointer **MyBest.Tools** Easy to set up and light enough to pick up and put away. The adjusters and controls are dead easy to use. It has an aluminum deck rather than iron, but for those who are careful it should suffice, and it has a vacuum port that, unlike some other tools I have, actually gathers ALL the dust. Very happy with this for the price.*

    It’s official. I’m getting rid of my wen bench top jointer. To do the same setup with when you don’t have the little set screws for adjusting the height. You have to fully remove one bolt at a time to access the height adjustment, twist it, put the bolt back, then do the same to the next one, only to then have to go back all the way around three or 4 or 5 more times to get it correct. So carve out a solid hour to do this with a wen.

    Was working to setup my 10” jointer today. Seems like the setup has changed completely. There are two hold down bolts and one set screw. You turn the set screw ccw to raise the gable. Also, it seems like there’s an interplay bw the set screws and the hold down bolts. You need to adjust both to achieve desired position.

    Excellent demonstration here for proper setup on these units... I added my email address on the Wahuda company's website in Tennessee. Apparently they are out of stock on the 10" unit & expect their next delivery in approximately 6 weeks as of todays date of 3/20/21 which puts it at roughly 05/01/21, possibly sooner... Based on my research on benchtop jointers, pound for pound these Wahuda jointers give the most bang for the buck, i.e. cast iron tables, ( 20 ) staggered carbide tips with ( 4 ) sides each, table extensions... Like everything in this world, ( unfortunately ) the 10" jointer is made in Taiwan, not the mainland of CCP China, thankfully, ( for now )… These units do not come with helix spherical cutting heads, however the staggered spiral head with the carbide tipped inserts is a step up from the knifed units & will save you money in the long term & they do produce better results imo...
    Bill on the Hill... :~)

    One important additional tip I got from Mike at Wahuda tools - if you turn the leveling studs on one or more corners to achieve tolerance, after you tighten the 4 center bolts, make sure to 'snug' all the leveling studs so that they make contact with the base. If you don't, it is quite possible that the table will move out of tolerance if it is bumped, moved, or otherwise relocated (ask me how i know).

    Thank you so much for the video. It was really helpful. The only problem I'm having is when I lower my infeed table. It's lower the cutterhead side more than the back so my infeed/outfeed table are not coplanar anymore. Is this a factory defect?

  • @ralphsmith7412
    @ralphsmith7412 2 года назад

    I have one of the earlier versions of this jointer which requires the user to completely remove one of the screws in the table and then use a screw driver to raise or lower the table. It takes a tremendous effort to adjust the tables to get them to be coplanar. I thought about getting rid of this jointer and buying a more expensive and easier to adjust machine. I now have it working pretty well so for the moment I am okay.

    Mine arrived yesterday. i got it in the shop and assembled. Someone has definitely been trying to set these tables by some unknown method. The set screws were so screwed up that I took the outfeed table off and reset all the levelers to 'flat' against the bottom surface. Since these surfaces were also milled I figure there's a chance that they are all somewhat parallel to the top face. I then set the outfeed table back in place and leveled it to the blade zenith as you did in this video. Repeating that process for the infeed table. Will update you when that's readied and i'm prepped for running a test board through...

  • @verdedenim662

    Lowering the infeed table essentially sets the jointer for a 1/8" (nominal) cut. If you then dial the infeed table up to be level with the outfeed table (let's say that you are now at 5/64" when they are co-planar), do you now have a total cutting depth of 3/64? I’ve found a huge discrepancy as the infeed lowers. After setting coplane to 0.003 between in and out as measured at all four corners of both beds - the infeed lowers on an angle: lowered table 1/16 and measured a 0.021 difference from fence to outside location at the cutting head. I had sown hours trying to understand WHY nothing would come out square after setting coplane to within 0.003 across both tables. You can actually see the infeed gap (table to cutter) grow on an angle as the table is lowered. No clue how to address this, except to return and get something better.
      Thoughts form anyone?

    How much higher should the outfeed table be ? You said they shouldn't be level in the beginning but then you said adjust the fee tables until they are perfectly level ! Please explain ?

      This can be changed using the adjustment knob on the right side of the jointer under the infeed table. I tend to keep mine at about 1/16 of an inch but you can change it base on how much wood you want to take off in each pass. Check the video at the 12:45 point where I go over this.

    I received my second Wahuda yesterday after they suggested returning the first due to a “loose” infeed table. When locked in place, the infeed table does not hold tight and when I add wood or simulate the pressure of wood on the infeed table and extension, it causes the table to move, making the tables no longer coplanar. Do you have any suggestions to help with this? No matter how many hours I spend getting the tables coplanar, as soon as the boards are positioned to go through the jointer, it is irrelevant because the tables don’t support the weight of the wood.

      Mine is doing the same thing but it's not even running a board that's doing it. Getting the tables parallel at top position but as soon as I lower the infeed table the front(by cutter head) drops by about 3/16" begore the rear even moves. Asking for an exchange because I think this machine is bad

    I’m still a bit confused about setting up the tables. When you started on that section you first said you wanted both tables level with each other. Then at about 5:15 in you said you didn’t want both tables level with each other. And then toward the end of that section you set both tables level with each other. Could you please clarify which it is for me? Thanks

    • @kentelrod4699

      For setup you want to make infeed and outfeed level. For actually cutting wood you lower the infeed table. Because of the setup the two tables are always parallel now but the lower infeed table defines the amount of cut.

    -5 today... Brought the jointer in from the shop. Setup the outfeed table, re-set the infeed; got everything to within .003". Tightened everything down to a nominal torque (not 'gorilla-tight, as it came to me, but at least 25-30ftlbs). Carried the jointer back to the shop and bolted it on to its stand. Was in the process of re-attaching the guard and noticed that the head looked a bit close. Turned it counter-clockwise and, sure enough, it contacted the infeed table! Placed my 4' level across the tables - out of level by approx. 3/16" over the 32" ... Not sure how, or why. Another day shot. I'm starting to doubt this tool's quality - or at least this particular machine... Any constructive suggestions are welcome.

      “Calibrated it, moved it to another location, bolted it down and calibration is now off”. Allowing for the fact that this is a bench top machine, that is not really surprising. You really ought to bolt it to it’s stand and calibrate it in the position that it will be used. Just my $0.02...

    I almost pulled the trigger on the wahuda. Instead, I dialed in my track saw to exactly 90°. When jointing with a track saw it helps to do a backwards scoring cut then the full depth forward cut. That'll produce sharp, clean edges both on top and bottom. I just glued up a small counter top and the seams are perfect.

    Umm - did i miss something? You start by saying that the outfeed table wants to be HIGHER than the infeed table, but then you set the infeed table to be level with the outfeed. Doesn't that make them equal?

    • @Jesusdparra
      @Jesusdparra 3 года назад +6

      You set them equal just to make sure they are flat and level with each other and then you lower the infeed table with the little handle to 1/16 or whatever cut per pass you prefer

  • @jgarehart89

    Incorrect set up here. You are adjusting the table to where the cutters are 90°, not at the true Apex of the blade. The blade continues to rise despite not being 90° to the table.
