Saving money from first round and staying at 500g per turn is the most efficient way to play. You just need to understand when and when not to go all in and spend everything to survive. I got to Masters easily doing this.

Also you don't need to start saving from first round everytime if you want to try to save HP early but sometimes you'll still lose anyways.
